My electricity has been out since about 11:15 AM on Thursday (7/2/26). Not a huge deal due to the fact that about a year ago I installed a 14kw Generac whole house natural gas fired generator. I also have a gas well on my property so I get free gas. It's now Sunday afternoon and I just got back from spending the holiday weekend with relatives. The generator has been running nearly the entire time I was gone, although the power was on when I left here Thursday morning, and it's still running right now. Utility company says they should have the power restored by tomorrow evening (7/6) at 11 PM. I get text updates periodically from the utility company so I can tell when the power goes off or comes back on along with their restoration estimates. The generator also has wifi and can monitor itself all of which means I also get a monthly operation report via email. Besides all the normal appliances I also have a couple of chest freezers and well water (with a submersible pump) so the investment in the generator was absolutely worth the cost. Because it doesn't run on gasoline and has an automatic transfer switch I also don't have to be here to start or maintain it. It might stumble a bit when I first turn on the central AC but other than that it has run flawlessly. BTW, I had the AC off while I was gone.

I bought a used 2023 Can-Am Commander XT700 UTV a few weeks ago. It has almost $6k in add-ons and still has about 11 months of remaining factory warranty. It has just under 2000 miles on the clock. The dealer who took it on trade has already replaced both rear axles under warranty and has filed a warranty claim on the winch. The winch still operates under power but the "free-wheeling" knob will not turn which means you cannot pull the winch cable out by hand. I've also done a few minor repairs and repainted most of the shiny body parts due to some nasty paint scratches. I have a full Can-Am decal kit ordered since I had to remove most of the factory decals before doing the paint work. I also just added an outside mirror on both doors. The other add-ons that were done by the previous owner include the windshield with a manual wiper, rear cab window, upper door kit (fixed windows), cab heater, front forward off-set A-arms, LED light bar on the front bumper, rear cab lights and 32x10 tires on 15" System E beadlock wheels. Factory equipment includes the lower doors, digital dash, an electronic locking rear axle, limited slip front axle, front mounted winch and electronic power steering. It also has a tilt bed with a 600 lb load capacity and is rated to tow 2000 lbs. The engine is a single cylinder 650cc Rotax with 52 HP and 41 LB-FT with a CVT transmission with high and low range.

This is one of my pet peeves. Is there anyone on the face of the earth that actually believes what they see and hear on most YouTube "short" videos? Especially anything that has been created in the past year or at least the past few months. It seems like AI is completely taking over YouTube. A good example is all of these stupid animal encounter things. Where on earth are you going to see a grizzly bear fighting a gorilla? Answer....NOWHERE! I get it that most of it is just entertainment bullshit designed to get clicks but come on. The other obvious thing about them is that they are put out there as "shorts" because no one can leave any comments debunking their BS. It's to the point where if something pops up as a "short" when you do a YouTube search most people probably just ignore them which completely defeats the purpose of putting them out there in the first place. Same thing for AI generated voices on any video. It's almost as bad as trying to understand some of my sister's texts. 😁

I decided to replace the front bumper on my '99 Cobra with a reproduction of one from a 2000 Cobra R. I had already installed a Roush body kit on the car several years ago and always wanted to get the front of the car down to the level of the Roush side skirts but I didn't want to use the Roush front bumper cover since it would lose too much of it's Cobra identity, IMO. The Cobra R bumper cover with its lowered splitter solves those problems. Unfortunately, the brackets that attach the ends of the bumper to the front fenders are pop riveted to the inside of the bumper and I didn't want to drill out those rivets on a perfectly good original bumper and they weren't included with the new bumper. Ford also no longer makes those brackets due to the age of the car.

However, Late Model Restorations (LMR) does make reproduction brackets. So, I ordered a pair of their brackets back on 2/26/25. LMR is in Waco, TX. According to the USPS tracking number, the package was in Pittsburgh, PA on 3/4/25. Because I live in west central Pennsylvania I assumed the package would have been here by now. Afterall, today is 3/7/25 and it was less than 100 miles away four days ago. Wrong. Can't do that. Guess where it was today? Santa f'n Clara, California! WTF? Musk can't DOGE these a-holes fast enough!

So I suppose this applies to cars in general, not just Ford's. Does parking on a mostly level surface without the e-brake damage/ significantly accelerate the wear on the transmission? I've heard some people say yes, and others say no, it's fine, e-brakes are mostly something you should use if you're parked in a steep incline.

Here's my driveway for reference. It's hard to tell, but like most driveways, there's a mild incline to it, I'd say maybe a degree or a couple of degrees at most.

Ideally, politics wouldn't come up on this site, but seeing as we just wrapped up an election, they probably will. So I thought instead of having a heated political argument in the main threads, let's discuss it here if we want to discuss it at all. Try to remain respectful please. Remember that even if someone didn't vote the way you did, that doesn't make them a bad person.

Because nobody else has anything else to do but buy buy buy online! Instead of doing some thinking while idle, they shop! My postal friend says parcel volumes are almost Christmas time levels! Very sad! And the Chinese get rewarded because everything is made there! Like I already said elsewhere, have him and his billionaire buddies cut a check for $50 billion EACH and send it to the Treasury for redistribution to us middle class slaves!

Not quite ready for a Lightning yet but it's a start. I bought this to use mainly to get to and from my tree stands during archery season without making as much noise or stink. Greenworks 60V mini-bike. I also have multiple other Greenworks tools that use the same 60V batteries as this so it made perfect sense. 25 mph top speed and 20 mile range.

Tried searching to see if this has already been discussed but search results yielded 20,000 hits. I’m looking for contact information for somebody in Labor Relations at the Glass House. The only result Google supplied was the main 800#.

I am a current Ford employee. While working on my ancestry, I discovered that my Grandfather worked for Ford prior to WWII (his draft card listed employer as Ford Motor Company). I only knew that he retired from Chrysler Dodge Main. I would love to find out which Plant he worked at and in what capacity? He passed way in 1994 and my father wasn’t even aware that he worked for Ford either.

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks!

I haven't read a book in a while, but I used to read fairly regularly. In the past I would read John Grisham novels, I also liked Michael Crichton, and I've read some Dan Brown. I've been curious about Tom Clancy novels, but have never read one. Are they a good read? If so, which one is a good first introduction to Clancy? Or any other suggestions for a good "guy" book.

We'd Like To Know A Little Bit About You For Our Files
