Howdy Folks!!.... As you can see, I've not been up here for a while. I moved away from my 2019 Ranger because I was tired of the high payments. Now my payments are 250 piasters lower ;>))) I bought a 2013 Ford Mustang GT. with low mileage. There are a few things to iron out (Used cars generally have a few problems) But the thing that really bites is a red light on my right side instrument gauge tachometer, It sets between 7 and 8 grand near the center of the dial. It is rectangular on its side with what looks like 2 short legs pointed to the left as you look at it. Now when I just took it over to a Ford dealer, the service writer didn't know what it was. It is not in the operator's manual. He tried to tell me it was the over-rev for the engine. Now, I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack, but somebody needs to stay away from the "Whoopie" tobacco. I've never seen a Tach like that. The red warning is usually over by the numbers, not at the next to the center of the dial. And besides, it stays on ALL the time. It only shuts off when the ignition is turned off. Turn on the key and there it is. I suppose I should have taken a photo, but you'll have to forgive me.... The "'60s were kind to me... ;>))) Anyway, that is something that most folks would remember if seen before.

Then also there is a 6 speed that doesn't like me. I haven't had a floor shift since the '90s. But that is another question for next time. You should have seen me trying to find the reverse. Any reply will definitely be appreciated.

	Be Well

I was excited to see the GT in the IMSA GTLM classes and the initial success looked promising, then I found out about the BoP and how it degrades the performance of a GT to the point a Corvette can beat it on a track. My question then is why develop the GT at all? Why not just put the Mustang in those races and then all the other manufacturers would have to weigh down their cars until the Mustang can beat them? I agree with BoP to a point, however what has happened is the team with the best pit crew is most likely to win are we actually watching racing or are we actually watching a pit crew competition?

I'd be really, really tempted to enter the Mustang into this series and move the GT to some other series for a year, just to let them know BoP is overreaching... and of course then I'd be laughing my ass off watching Mustangs beat Corvettes that are carrying 500 lbs of BoP weight.

2017 Ford GT confirmed with 647 hp, 216 mph top speed

motorauthority

By Viknesh Vijayenthiran Published January 25, 2017

Fox News

ford gt handout

Ford Motor Company has finally revealed some of the performance specs for its new GT supercar.

We can confirm that the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 fitted to the car makes 647 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 550 pound-feet of torque at 5,900 rpm, with 90 percent of that torque figure coming up at 3,500 rpm. We also know via the EPA that the car returns 11 mpg city, 18 highway and 14 combined, which is worse than the fuel economy of the V-10-powered Dodge Viper.

The mid-mounted engine features a 9.0:1 compression ratio and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Drive is to the rear wheels only, via a limited-slip differential.

The top speed is 216 mph, making the GT the fastest production car in Ford history. We dont have a figure for acceleration but most of the cars in this class will hit 60 mph in 3.0 seconds or less and we have no doubt that the same will be true for the GT.

The dry weight is 3,053.84 pounds, which is quite a bit more than the 2,712-lb dry weight of the 666-hp McLaren 675LT, though in Fords own testing the GT proved quicker around a track.

During testing, Ford pitted a GT against a 675LT as well as a Ferrari 458 Speciale in a race against the clock at Canadas Calabogie Motorsports Park. With the same driver for each of the cars, the GT clocked a time of 2:09.8 around the 3.1-mile track. The McLarens time was 2:10.8 and the Ferraris 2:12.9.

This was no independent test so the figures shouldnt be taken at face value. However, they do provide a benchmark in which future tests can be measured against. Were sure if Ford isnt willing to deliver a GT for testing some owners will.

The Blue Oval praises the cars active aerodynamics and suspension for helping to deliver the superior track times. These systems, honed on the race track, are designed to make the car perform with optimum downforce, drag and balance at any speed. These can be adjusted via the cars driving modes selector, which includes a Track mode.

In Track mode, the suspension is firmed, the fuel flow is raised and the car is also lowered by 50 millimeters. The active aerodynamics also come to life, with air channels up front becoming sealed so that more air is fed to high-pressure downforce channels further back in the body. The rear wing also extends, adding to the downforce and serving as an air brake during heavy breaking maneuvers.

Production of the GT is being handled by Canadas Multimatic in Markham, Ontario. The cars are being built at a rate of 250 per year and the first examples have already been delivered.

The Ford GT will be built in Ontario by Multimatic Motorsports, a longstanding partner in Ford Motor Co.’s

racing programs, the automaker said today.

The GT, a 600-hp supercar unveiled in Detroit last month, is scheduled to go into production next year.

Analysts have said they expect Ford to build only a few hundred GTs a year and charge more than

$200,000 for the car, which is made largely of carbon fiber and aluminum.

Ford confirmed its production plans for the GT at the Toronto auto show, near Multimatic’s headquarters in

Markham, a spokeswoman said.

Speaking at the Toronto auto show today, Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of the Americas, said the automaker

will benefit from Multimatic’s experience in working with carbon fiber.

He noted that Ford has worked with Multimatic for 30 years. The Canadian company has 12 manufacturing

facilities in five countries: Canada, the U.S., Mexico, England and China.

Ford’s executive chairman, Bill Ford, had said last month that the GT would be assembled in a “purpose-built”

facility rather than a traditional plant.

The GT is one of 12 vehicles the automaker is rolling out under the umbrella of a new Ford Performance division.

Others include the Focus RS, F-150 Raptor and Mustang GT 350R, all of which have been revealed in the past month.

The selection of Multimatic adds to anticipation that Ford will use the GT to return to the 24 Hours of LeMans race in 2016.

Ford executives have said they conceived the GT to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the company’s 1966 LeMans win,

though they haven’t confirmed plans to participate next year.

Multimatic was part of the team that won the LMP675 class in the 2000 LeMans race. It has worked with Ford since 1992.

Among their most recent collaborations was the Mustang Boss 302R.

Although my Mustang quest ended with a 2008 Bullitt I couldn't be happier with, it was the convertible 07 GT-H I rented that got me started. A reason I opted for the Bullitt was it's such a bargain, and the 07 GT-H's were predictably high when they were released.

From what little I've been watching on E-bay it looks like they're taking the path of the 06's and really going down in price.

Anyone tracking them more closely as to availability & price?
