	I have a 2012 Ford Focus. I had to replace the alternator a few months ago, which I did myself. The alternator has three bolts—two on top and one on the bottom (the pivot bolt) —and I tightened the bottom bolt all the way when I screwed it in. About two months later, I started hearing a metallic noise while driving and discovered that the bolt had almost completely loosened (but could not be pulled out). I screwed it back in and found that at the end of the threading, it doesn't fully tighten but instead just spins. Now it slowly loosens again and again, and I also have that metallic noise which I don't like hearing. Does anyone have an idea what I can do to keep it from unscrewing? Thanks in advance everyone.

	I just wanted to give heads up on a issue I had. I have a 17 focus that wouldn't shut off after the key was turned and removed. If i cycled the key it would then shut off. I have a buddy I went to school with that works at the local dealer so I took it to him. He found I had moisture in my right head light and he figured out that the day time LED strip must of been shorted and back fed to the ignition. He pulled the fuse to the LED and everything worked as should again. Car has 244,000 miles on it now and still runs strong.

	15 Focus automatic 170 k km, TCM replaced a year ago under recall warranty. Shutter has never gone away but today I suddenly couldn’t get my car to speed up - would just rev when pressing gas, and eventually got transmission overheat warning pull over wait 5 minutes warning. Same thing happened over and over. Finally left it in a parking lot bc I couldn’t try to drive in traffic, wasn’t safe. It starts fine and reverses fine but when going from stop to start in D or L just revs like I’m in neutral and eventually gives me the over heat warning. No other warning lights, no check engine light etc.
</p>

<p>
	coolant level looked fine, temp gauge normal. <br />
	Anyone know how I can quick fix to get it home? As opposed to towing it? If I knew it was related to the TCM recall, I would have it towed right up the street to the dealership because it’s just around the corner. <span class="ipsEmoji">🫠</span>

	My wife's Focus, a 2015 is now about to get Clutch #3, first two under warranty, this I am doing myself.  All went great until I unlocked the disks and gave it a spin then heard a terrible racket. I had to remove the clutch and found that there appear to be shipping clips on the shift forks. Spring steel and nothing saying to remove before use on them or in the package. It is a true LUK clutch too.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Anyway, I reinstalled the clutch and had no problem getting it down enough to install the snap ring, however, the clutches are now engaged and I cannot turn it unless I remove the center shaft spline disk for the top clutch.   I have a reset tool on the way to reset the springs, but am curious to know why the disks were engaged even though the shift forks are at their resting position.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	If what I saw is correct that these clutches are backwards to a standard manual clutch, where the shift forks actually engage the disks, and they are released at rest, then what would be the reason for them to not be disengaged when at rest?  I will find out for sure once I reset the clutch and if it goes back like the very first time, then I will be OK.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	What I found weird is that the inner will spin opposite the outer, when both should spin freely in park or neutral, or is this always the case and what I saw where they spun the clutch after release that the inner one spins easier than the outer one so the clutch disk moved with the clutch?

	Guys I am absolutely stumped on this one. I've got a 2012 ford focus se automatic with 145k miles on it and she's acting up. It all started while backing out of a parking spot, the car basically scooted and then went dead. Just battery discharge and oil pressure light illuminated. When I started her up she scooted and died in drive. Started again and then drove fine. It's gotten progressively worse and I've I do a bunch of short drives it will get to a point where it just cranks and cranks and no start. I floor the gas pedal during starts and it will "in my head" help it start again. And to keep it running once it does start I have to floor the pedal for about 15 seconds or it will stall out. The only CEL I get is a p00c6, nothing else. If I do a cold start in the am it fires up no issues.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Now I'm getting spark and I have no other codes pointing me to a sensor. The low pressure pump was replaced about 500 miles ago. I did get a p1450 code recently and replaced the vapor purge valve...I think unrelated as this happened before she was acting up. Also put on a junkyard HPFP and it didn't change the situation. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

	Recently bought 2005 with 2.3L duratec, it seems to run well but, fuel economy is really bad, there is an engine tick, and it occasionally surges/searches at idle (will pulse every few seconds from 800 to ~1500 RPM, this is only sometimes, never on startup, always after coming to a stop at a light).
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	No codes at all.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I will end up taking it to the shop but want to do my best to look for a few things first:
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I will do my best to look for exhaust manifold leak – maybe that is the tick, not a lifter
</p>

<p>
	I can change PCV valve and hose because why not, is there any way to know if hose is torn without tearing it all apart to get at it?
</p>

<p>
	If I start looking for vacuum leaks, any suggestions on most likely places?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Are any of these actual possible causes for the symptoms?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I just got forscan, it is my first time with a tool that can look beyond DTCs. Is there any parameters I can look at to do some diagnosing? Fuel pressure? Engine control?

I am struggling of a way to word the description so the transmission issue does not scare away any buyers. We’ve taken the car in multiple times and always fixed under warranty but it’s not fixed. It drives okay, you can just feel a little hesitation in the transmission when accelerating and a little high pitched whine at high speeds.

	<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383a3b;font-size:15px;">2000 Zetec DOHC, car sat a LONG time, started it, alternator seized up, belt got hot, kinda melted tensioner pulley. Ran fine, but squealed like mad. On shut off, I could hear some "sizzling" &amp; "popping", in the area of the alternator.</span><br style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383a3b;font-size:15px;" />
	<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383a3b;font-size:15px;">I replaced the tensioner and the alternator, (Rockauto), and in doing so, had to move the engine up down and forward quite a bit to get the alt and tensioner out of there. I only undid 4 plugs up by the firewall on the passenger side, and re-plugged all of it in. The battery is about dead, so I used a jump box to start the car today. It starts right up, but won't stay running; it won't idle. If I sit there with my foot in it, about 1/4 way down, it will run. If I let off the gas, it becomes really rough and lopes a lot, then dies quickly.</span><br style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383a3b;font-size:15px;" />

	<span style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383a3b;font-size:15px;">UPDATE: I put a different battery in that is fully charged. Connected positive, &amp; turned key to "on" to clear codes. Started car, still won't idle. I had my wife start it and give it a little gas to keep it running; voltage at battery was 13.5-14.5, depending on rpm's. When she let off the gas, it stumbles all over itself misfiring etc, and slows down before dying.</span><br style="background-color:#ffffff;color:#383a3b;font-size:15px;" />

<p>
	My experience with the trans shutter. Excuse me if this is a repeat. I have a 2014 Focus. 50,000 miles. I bought it new. Like most of the cars, mine started the famous trans shutter. After reading this forum and watching a YouTube video I was able to eliminate the shutter. The first thing I did was to do about 6 accelerations from a full stop. I used full throttle until it went through all of the gears.  Then I unbolted the battery negative cable from the frame. I used a wire wheel to remove the paint off the two mating surfaces then reinstalled it. I was shocked that it actually made it shift like it should.  The shutter that I had was from a standing start in first gear, maybe just a bit in second gear. Now it only just barley shutters only 10% of the time. I am a car guy, this isn't my imagination.
</p>

<p>
	    How many cars have been taken to the dealer to have them say,,,, "you need a trans rebuild" for $$$$$$?  Then have them install the same part number that the original car had.

<p>
	Hello,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	As we all know the transmission on these cars are not good (I've had to get mine recently changed the clutch and TCM at 54,000KM with the car at 57,000KM now) Being in Canada I have been offered the extended warranty ( 7 year aka 4 more years left and 150KM aka 100KM left) for $2,600 plus tax Canadian. ($2,100 approx USD). It's the cheapest I've found.There is also a $100 deductible that would be payed for every warranty claim
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I'm not sure if that's worth it or not since I'm pretty sure the TCM and clutch etc is probably going to go again (I believe it's about $1,700 or so from what they last did with the clutch, TCM change). Should I bother with the extended Ford warranty or just leave it alone and go about fixing it myself out of pocket when (not if as we all know) it happens again? Looking to keep the car as long as I can.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	That's of course provided it's the same kind of replacement that is needed and not a whole new transmission. Any feedback/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	Thank you

However, I am aware that the reliability of the 2012+ automatic Focuses are pretty bad. However, I have heard that the I3 EcoBoost Focuses use a different and far more reliable automatic transmission...perhaps the same one that went into the Fusion. Is this true? Are the automatics used in the I3 EcoBoost Automatics reliable? <br />

<p>
	A few months ago I bought a 2006 Focus ZXW SE. While I haven't spent a whole lot of time driving this car I did want to put together an episode of my show on it. I doubt there are many modern reviews on the Mk1 Focus so I hope this helps people who might be interested in buying one of these today. I discuss some of the differences between the North American and European spec models and what you should consider if you're in the market for one of these in 2020.

<p>
	Hi all,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I bought a second hand Ford Focus SEL 2012 in January when I was in rush and the seller really tricked me and sold me a really damaged car. Its front bumper is broken and getting worse everyday.  I have some questions. It will  be really helpful if have some knowledge please help me.
</p>

<p>
	1) Do you know what is the device behind the front bumper in driver side above the fog light . I have ordered a full set of front bumper to replace it but I just notice today, there is an electrical module in another cover behind the front bumper in driver side and its cover is broken too and it is falling down. It has a cable connected into that. I did not find the name of that device to order the its cover . Do you know what is the name of that device ?
</p>

<p>
	2) Every time that turn on the car the radio is restarted after a few second, the volume goes down and the screen goes to black screen that it should be closed and the channel jumps to something. Is that normal that it goes to a default setting or there is a problem?
</p>

<p>
	3) The bottoms on the right side of the wheel  doesn't work. Is there a fuse that causes this issue?
</p>

<p>
	4) I cannot change the time on the climate screen. why?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Thanks a lot. I appreciate you time in advance.

	Planning on picking up a 2018 Focus ST3 with 26k miles in the next couple of days.  The car has some mods, which includes Cobb Stage 1 Power Package (Accessport tuner, RS intake and rear motor mount) and a <span><a href="http://i.viglink.com/?key=04f7d7ed4704e99036bec0f6be709c58&amp;insertId=0aacc8035da08d66&amp;type=L&amp;exp=-1%3Ana%3A0&amp;libId=k97gkbqu0100b4br000DAc21vcy0x&amp;loc=https%3A%2F%2Fblueovalforums.com%2Fforums%2Findex.php%3F%2Fforum%2F69-focus-forum%2F%26do%3Dadd&amp;v=1&amp;iid=0aacc8035da08d66&amp;opt=true&amp;out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3Dflowmaster&amp;ref=https%3A%2F%2Fblueovalforums.com%2Fforums%2Findex.php%3F%2Fforum%2F69-focus-forum%2F%26sortby%3Dlast_real_post%26sortdirection%3Ddesc&amp;title=Create%20New%20Topic%20-%20Blue%20Oval%20Forums&amp;txt=%3Cspan%3EFlowmaster%3C%2Fspan%3E" rel="external nofollow" title="Link added by VigLink">Flowmaster</a> Outlaw catback <span><a href="http://i.viglink.com/?key=04f7d7ed4704e99036bec0f6be709c58&amp;insertId=33f5e915ee4bbe51&amp;type=L&amp;exp=-1%3Ana%3A0&amp;libId=k97gkbqu0100b4br000DAc21vcy0x&amp;loc=https%3A%2F%2Fblueovalforums.com%2Fforums%2Findex.php%3F%2Fforum%2F69-focus-forum%2F%26do%3Dadd&amp;v=1&amp;iid=33f5e915ee4bbe51&amp;opt=true&amp;out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.autopartswarehouse.com%2Fsearch%2F%3FNtt%3Dexhaust%26searchType%3Dglobal%26shopId%3D1%26N%3D0%26addfitment%3D1&amp;ref=https%3A%2F%2Fblueovalforums.com%2Fforums%2Findex.php%3F%2Fforum%2F69-focus-forum%2F%26sortby%3Dlast_real_post%26sortdirection%3Ddesc&amp;title=Create%20New%20Topic%20-%20Blue%20Oval%20Forums&amp;txt=%3Cspan%3Eexhaust%3C%2Fspan%3E" rel="external nofollow" title="Link added by VigLink">exhaust</a>. Cruise acting weird? <p>
	I have a 2015 Ford Focus SE with a 4cyl 2.0L Flex Fuel Engine. When I do a full fill up it says 174 Miles until empty. I've cleared all of the Trip Info ect.  I find it hard to believe a 4cyl Ford Focus would get 170 Miles till E.  Do some city driving and highway driving and don't smash the gas.  Anyone else had any kind of an issue like this?    Also when I put on the Cruise control in the 70s sometime It will change randomly on it's own to Kilometers?
