Hey all, looking for advice before I pull the trigger on a used radio swap.
My 2011 Lincoln MKS has the THX audio system, no nav, no satellite. The original radio is dead and I currently have an aftermarket unit in it which caused me to lose dash message functionality (can't clear messages, can't see odometer or reset oil life).
I found a used OEM unit with the exact same part number: BA5T-18C815-AA38N8 but it came out of a 2009 MKS. The seller says it was working when removed.
My questions:
Will a 2009 unit work in a 2011 with the same part number?
Was the BA5T-18C815-AA38N8 available in THX-equipped cars? I need to make sure it will communicate properly with my THX amp
Can this be reprogrammed with Forscan + OBDLink EX using my As-Built data, or does it require dealer IDS?
Will swapping back to OEM restore my dash message functionality?
Thanks in advance!

I bought a 2012 MKS AWD with 126k miles with the Ecooboost to flip it (timing issue) , but now I am having a Stopping problem. I installed all new brakes and rotors and seems that I am having trouble stopping when at high speeds . You can hear the front brakes like grinding and really have to press the pedal real hard and sinks pretty low . So I switched out master cylinder , got a little better but not alot .. Anyone ever have this issue ?

	Hello,

I have a low-mileage 2016 MKS Basemodel with only 76k miles, but recently the RF and LR windows stopped working. A Facebook group for MKS owners suggested the issue might be in the driver's door panel, so I replaced it with an OEM part, but the problem persists. I also swapped the RR and LR switches, but the same issue remains; in fact, the LR window worked even without a switch installed. I know Fuse 3 under the dash powers the RF window, but I can’t access it, and it seems unlikely that two different fuses would fail. Initially, the problem was intermittent, but it completely failed a few days later. Any suggestions?

My 2013 Lincoln MKS with touch controls (FCIM) for audio and HVAC recently started having the runaway temperature + button problem. For those unfamiliar the temperature starts rising on it's own until it maxes out at 85. Using either the steering wheel or touch screen controls one can fight this trying to force the temperature down. In my case, the problem seemed to happen when the interior got really hot while parked. It would stop once I got the car cooled off a bit. Prior to the runaway temp increase issue, I noticed that the driver's side + button sometimes would not work when touched.

These button work on capacitance and over time, heat seems to cause some defect with the driver's side temperature + button (see first photo below) on the front console. This defect causes the button to send inputs to the environmental control module as if someone was pressing the + button continuously. Turning off the HVAC is not a workaround because the car is programmed to turn the heat or air on as soon as it receives an input from any of the temperature +/- buttons.

I tried something that, so far, has stopped the runaway temperature increase problem. About ten days ago, I got in the car and the temperature started increasing on it's own. I was bit surprised as the interior wasn't all that hot. Also, the phantom inputs were sporadic rather than continuous. I stopped by Wally World and bought a can of compressed air, the type for cleaning computers. My theory was that if heat caused the touch button to go off on its own, maybe super cooling that area would stop it. After said purchase, I started the car and the temperature was still increasing on its own. I inverted the can and hit is with a two or three second burst of the propellant (second photo below). The button and surrounding area frosted over and immediately the temperature stopped increasing on its own. The button appears to be completely dead (touching it does nothing) now and I have not experienced the runaway temperature increase since I super cooled the button. As previously stated, a dead + button on the panel is a minor inconvenience given the multiple ways to adjust the temperature, including voice controls.

I have a 2013 Lincoln MKS Ecoboost, the climate control system is all touch buttons (Not inside of the LCD screen but below the screen) which are pretty nice but lately I have a very annoying issue with the + (plus) Button of the climate control. I would be driving the car and randomly the climate control starts to increase the Temperature as if I am tapping the + button on the climate control area. Sometimes when I press the - (Minus) button as the car is automatically increasing the temperature the temperature stops and then I can controll the temperature manually - or +, but other times no matter what buttons I press the car keeps increasing the temperature and I have to turn off the whole Heat/Ac to make it stop increasing and then turn it back on, but even that sometimes does not fix the problem, anyone knows why this could be and how I can fix this.

These are not push buttons that would stick down and the car thinks I am constantly pressing the + button. Mind you the steering wheel buttons I can use also to control the climate work fine, but when the climate control is acting up even these buttons do not seem to work, is this a computer issue or the touch button it self ? I would really appreciate any help/hints. thanks

* I have included a picture of the climate controls below, I am talking about the "RED + Button" on the right of "MY TEMP", for some reason it automatically is pressed or the car thinks I am touching it when in fact i am not.

Got my car inspected today and as I expected it looks like my struts are starting to go bad - problem is from what I can tell Ford has stopped producing the struts for the 20" wheel on the 09 MKS.

The only thing I've been able to find are some Monroe units that are listed with the interchange number of the OEM struts for the 20" wheels, but compatibility checkers seem to state that it won't work. Is this just sites being a bit odd or am I just going to have to keep my eyes out for things?

	For reference, the OEM parts:

	Left: AST397/8A5Z18124H

	Right: AST396/8A5Z18124G

The parts I've found with matching interchange numbers are:

	Left: MONROE 72532 OESpectrum

	Right: MONROE 72533 OESpectrum

But if I put those parts into a compatibility checker it says no, so I'm a bit perplexed.

Obviously I'm hoping that I can just use the Monroe parts, so I was wondering if anyone here has tried to use the OESpectrum units on an MKS with 20" wheels before or if I'm better off looking at a junkyard.

I have a 2009 Lincoln mks. It had minor damage to the driver front bumper when we bought it. Clock spring was bad so we replaced it. I never knew the cruise wasn't working. First the notification area said CRUISE MALFUNCTION. The radar for the ACC had a busted plug on the unit. So I purchased a used one from a junk yard. Just installed it. The display don't say MALFUNCTION anymore but does say CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE when you press any of the cruise buttons. Also off to the left of the dash is an amber logo for the acc. It won't stop flashing. I cannot find anything about this ACC light, the display msg nothing. Before we replaced this radar this light never was flashing. Even after replacing the clock spring. This all happened after we put the new/used radar in. Any help would be awesome. Cause I'm gonna sell it if we can't figure this out. Also we have not taken it to a dealer to get checked out. We don't have lots of money to throw out at this. We do our own work. Thanks!

Replaced my super-reliable ‘old’ 2011 MKZ commuter car (Traded right at 360,000 km / 224,000 miles) with a 2013 MKS EcoBoost, fully loaded but high mileage. I had been looking for one for a while but they are quite rare I found.

Car is in amazing shape for its age and mileage - clearly very well kept. The FCIM has the common problem and a new one is on order. Dealership replaced the BCM due to some fault codes (although Forscan shows some new ones as well as some DTCs related to the DDM and some overvoltage error somewhere else) but the one perplexing issue is with the lane keep. The menus show it as active but the button doesn’t do anything. Forscan showed it as disabled and when I tried to reactivate there was an error. Does anyone know if LKA is in any way controlled through the FCIM? Any ideas?

The other question/comment I have is related to the engine note from inside the cabin. Tooling around town the engine is nice and quiet. When you bring up the revs I find the engine sounds coarse and somewhat unrefined. Is that common with the MKS EB and/or SHO?

Regardless, I now own 765 Chicago-built Lincoln horsepower between the MKS and my Aviator. Since 2013, I’ve had an ‘11 MKZ, ‘13 MKX, ‘16 MKX (early build), ‘16 MKX (late build), ‘20 Aviator and ‘13 MKS. In case you’re wondering, I’m 40.

When turning on the stereo it will show working in the display but no sound. I have used the Bluetooth and people can hear me but I can't hear them. Now here is the kicker. In about 10 - 15 minutes, everything comes on and sound is there and I can hear incoming calls and the THX sounds great. So then I turn the MKS off at my destination and it comes on when I restart. Then will go out for about 5-7 minutes then it's on and stays on as long as I keep it on . I've heard from some folks that a system reboot ( negative cable pulled off of the battery for 15 minutes ) will work in a 1 in 20 chance. I really don't want to do this. Is this wiring or module or amp or pre amp????? I'm lost on this one. I love the ride of the MKS.

Weird things happening with my 2009 MKS. The door keypad stopped lighting up. The start push button wouldn't work. The front bumper sensor goes off erroneously. Changed batteries in the FOB but didn't correct the problem. The keypad now has started working again. The start button will work after a while. I noticed that when depressing the brake prior to starting the brake is hard and will not depress. This all happens regardless of what fob we use.

Can we REBOOT the CPU? How? Any suggestions? Thanks for the expertise out there!!!
