  1. So, lets see...you whine and cry about Ford discontinuing cars so you are going to run out and buy a Toyota ......utility vehicle?? Yup...makes perfect sense.

  2. I must be bad luck. I went from the Focus lawsuit (transmission) to a Ranger lawsuit now (mileage). Sorry guys, it must be me.

  3. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.freep.com/amp/1119773001 I knew this would come to a head at some point. Ford would be better off doing excellent trade in deals for these cars. Give these customers an insane deal to trade back into another ford without DCT. Fusions or escapes or eco sport. Otherwise the only one that wins are the attorneys.

  4. Uhhh??? What? So you complain about Ford only selling trucks, and then are going to get a RAV4?

  5. It’s very simple. Let’s say it costs Ford $600 extra for IRS. They add $600 to the base price of the Platinum, Limited and KR models and then give you the choice of suspensions at no extra cost. It means that you’re paying for the IRS even if you get the SRA. But since it’s buried in the base price most don’t care and some actually think they’re getting IRS for free.

  10. I really don’t understand why Ford doesn’t offer these types of owners a no questions asked full market price buy back and a discount on a new Ford. You get a new sale and a happy customer.

  12. THANK YOU! I don't understand why people want the Bronco to be a Wrangler clone. That's not a good way to do business and just asking for trouble.

  14. Back to original topic. Lawsuit claims Ford did nothing. In reality, Ford did something. They extended warranties and redesigned weak points of transmission. Clearly it was not handled perfectly and poor dealership experience is probably a contributing factor. Nevertheless I think Ford can show evidence they did something. As far as blaming customers, Ford published a video at one time explaining the DCT idiosyncracies. Is that blaming customers or educating them? The DCT just isn't as smooth as a tranny with a torque converter. Is VW or Hyundai still using DCT? I know Acura used them briefly then quit due to complaints. The VW used a wet clutch and wasn't as problematic as the dry clutch. It will be interesting to see where the lawsuit goes. Ford is not alone with their DCT issues: https://www.hyundai-forums.com/2016-tucson-ix35-models/454074-dangerous-horrible-dct.html

  16. Ford listens to truck buyers and truck buyers want a mast antenna for better reception while tuning into their favorite AM radio programming.

  17. It's dumb on so many levels. "Trailblazer" spent 3 years as a trim level of the Blazer, then the nameplate was used on the Blazer's GM360-based replacement midsize SUV, which itself was replaced by the Traverse. Now the Blazer nameplate has been resurrected and slapped on a FWD, overpriced midsized crossover, and the Trailblazer name will come back and slot *under* this. So the lineup is likely to be: Trax / Trailblazer / Equinox / Blazer / Traverse Lord Jesus. All the facepalms.

  19. Up until yesterday morning when that news broke, the rumor was the Bronco Hybrid was cancelled and or delayed for a while. Now it seems it will launch by December 2021-a year after actual launch of the vehicle.

  20. Because Ford already has plenty of SUV's with IFS that it could just change the body on, so what really is the point of an all NEW bronco chassis, if it is not competing against the wrangler.

  26. The Escape Hybrid was 177 hp and certainly was faster than a Prius or Honda Insight of the same vintage. It also achieved its EPA rated 34 and 31 MPG, unless you drove it like you stole it. The part that is disappointing is that Ford was the 1st hybrid SUV. Then dropping it in favor of the "What the heck is it" CMAX. The Fusion when introduced was widely promoted, then ignored like all Ford sedans. If you wanted a family sedan with the luggage space of a Mustang, here is your car. If you never buy more than 1 bag of groceries or travel, have we got a plug in hybrid for you. If you don't drive more than 60 miles per day, can we interest you in an electric Focus? Management thought this was all that was needed. I know much work has gone on "behind the scenes", but the average customer hasn't seen any of this. The green aspirations of top management looks like just talk from a company that makes Trucks.

  27. It might be a blessing that your dealer had an issue getting the part because it saved them from tearing it all apart. My dealer got the part next day so the injector was replaced before they released the TSB. I guess it doesn't really hurt anything because I'm not paying for it. I never noticed any hesitation, however coming from a V6 I will say the 4 is a little rougher starting during the stop-start cycle if you use that feature. Anyhow get the TSB done and you'll probably be fine. My transmission was finally shifting smooth by about the time I took it to the dealer. I wonder if it'll have to relearn shifting patterns after the update? I guess we'll see.

  28. I am awaiting the tech to try the TSB update fix to my Ranger to see if it takes care of the bad injector issue. My truck had very noticeable hesitation at lower speeds. I’m glad I ain’t the only one dealing with this problem. Misery loves company.

  29. It's not just the US, Ford is treating these customers just so terribly, in Australia they were forced by the courts to do the right thing and repair a vehicle that seems to be unrepairable. At one point Ford Aust. was trying to charge these customers another $7,000 to trade into a new 1.5 EB Focus with 6F35 auto... And now they wonder why no one wants Ford's cars and SUVs, the only thing that sells is Ranger and Mustang, all the rest are less than 400/mth each

  33. 1. You see the progression on Ranger sales increase, 2,100 2,900, 4,600, 5,700.....what next, 6,800/7,200? and all against strong selling Tacoma and Colorado 2. Tacoma has built up its own ecosystem of return buyers, a bit like F150 so it's "immune" to the effects of a new player, I'd say that other minor brand sales are taking the hit at the moment as Ranger nudges its way back in.... 3. Jeep is saying that its dealers are holding over 25,000orders for Gladiator, I'd believe that but after that, how much sales depth is not known and whether that come at the cost of Wrangler sales is also not known When you think about it, the '19 Ranger is a place holder that doing a good job of reviving the name and positioning the truck for its much better replacement in a couple of years time, that's when the surge from Bronco and NG ranger will really hit.

  35. It's always possible it could be a miss. The market will dictate that. I think it will be a success but there are a lot of variables. Also, if you think 50hp and 200 torque is a little extra, what do you think is a lot? It also includes some addition options on the ICE reserve as standard. My prediction is this will easily out accelerate the ICE version to 60 by 1 second. Yes, that would put it in the really f'ing quick territory. Not Tesla quick but getting there. That's just my guess based on current what we know so far. We'll find out soon enough as Chicago production has just started for Explorer/Aviator. Just think for a moment based on what we have currently. The FWD biased current (heavier, 6 speed and torque managed) Explorer Sport accelerates to 60 in 6 seconds flat (roughly). Add 35hp and 50lb/ft torque, plus rwd bias, and robust 10 speed to lighter platform and that could shave 4-5 tenths off. Now add another 50hp and 200lb torque. It's entirely possible that the GT breaks into the 4's. That's pretty fast for a 3 row SUV for a whopping 68k. Now what does this all mean? Nothing really but it just goes to show that the Aviator GT has the potential to have performance to back up that 10k uptick in price, all while giving you some of the benefits of a PHEV. I think that sounds like a win.

  38. I am split on the whole SFA/IFS direction. We have two Wranglers in our household. Both lifted. The first is a 98 TJ with a 4" lift and the other is a 2018 JLU with a Mopar lift. Jeep has a well documented issue with their SFA and death wobble, steering wandering, etc. They have numerous "fixes" in the pipeline. Ours has already received a new stabilizer shock and a tracbar. With 6,000 miles on it- and prelift. Big forum argument about the Bronco right now. Several owners are chomping at the bit to see it. They want the "lifestyle" vehicle but don't need the hardcore capability of the SFA.
    1 point
  39. don't know how many times I have said it...but from an insider...a SFA WILL be available for those that feel the need, most likely through Ford Performance, me, as small a percentage as the vehicle wold be used "hard-core" Id rather have something more ride friendly on a day to day basis.

  41. They have that dash really covered. I’m hoping it’s going to exceed the interior of the new ram. The Ram is the only other truck I would even remotely consider. Actually, not really. Raptor all day for me. But the Ram is a good looking truck. Good job to them.

  42. Torn on the whole IFS debate, because a well tuned IFS could be better, if losing some "macho" points in the process. I want the Bronco to be genuinely capable off-road...but I don't know if trying to out-hardcore the Wrangler is the best way for the model to succeed.
