  1. I miss Jay being on the Tonight Show. These days, late night TV just plain sucks.

  2. NASA - What's the Difference Between Weather and Climate? Latest three month average temperature and precipitation anomalies for the United States. Credits: NOAA The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.

  4. I’m not exactly sure why this topic is in this forum considering it has pretty much turned into politics, which is about as enjoyable as a root canal. I thought about engaging, but it isn’t worth it. Nobody’s convincing anyone to come to their side even though people have more in common than they realize, but aren’t willing to find that common ground. I come to this forum because I enjoy talking and learning about Ford products, so time to abandon this thread.

  6. This explains FoMoCo's sudden re-embrace of RWD platforms. An electric motor - transaxle setup wouldn't package very well in FWD vehicle.

  9. I’ve never seen anything close to that. I had a ‘16 F150 and granted it was a 4x4 with the 2.7 and no matter what I did I never saw anything much above 20 on the highway. I suppose if I drove 55-60 with it I might have gotten a little better. My new Ranger can get around 22 on the highway. We are always bucking a wind one way or the other around here and wind is a killer on MPG with the poor aerodynamics of large pickups. I guess the 2.3 and 2.7 EcoBoosts must be gas guzzlers compared to the 3.5. That doesn’t make much sense, but it appears that way if your hitting almost 30. Even on a still day I never see anything close to that and I try to be a smooth driver.

  10. I don;t think the autonomous is going to play out for a long, long time. Eventually maybe, but it's running into an awful lot of problems right now. Shared vehicles may have a place in metropolitan areas.

  12. Ah, the 10R80MHT finally makes its debut. I saw one of these firsthand last winter. The unit bolts to the front of the bell housing, but does not add that much length. Maybe 4 inches? Its serviced as an assembly with the torque converter.

  15. Ouch! So yo don't like California. 90% of all wine from the United States comes from California so it is pretty safe to say that can't be done in other states. 99 percent of artichokes, 99 percent of walnuts, 97 percent of kiwis, 97 percent of plums, 95 percent of celery, 95 percent of garlic, 89 percent of cauliflower, 71 percent of spinach, and 69 percent of carrots in the United States. 82% of the worlds Almonds. You seriously think anywhere in this nation can surpass CA with the "right steps"? Then why doesn't some other state take the "right steps". Smut TV & Porn? Yes, California produces the most but it is for the red states that consume it. https://www.cnbc.com/2009/07/14/Top-US-States-For-Online-Pornography.html I have heard of those companies you mentioned, Microsoft & Amazon are headquartered in/near Seattle WA - great progressive place - love the city. Have you heard of Apple, Alphabet, Facebook. Usually in the top 6 of most valuable companies in the country - all in CA. And Californians are not arrogant, we are a diverse welcoming, open and friendly people who are not afraid of diversity, willing to accept people for who/what they are, we care about people and the environment. Are we perfect - of course not. Do we have some problems , sure (although I do not know what you mean by "all the problems CA is having") But I would not want to live anyplace else.

  16. Texas has plenty of land and sunlight (especially west of the 100th parallel). But California has other characteristics for agriculture that Texas does not. Distribution of rainfall by season, range of temperatures, topography, soil types, etc. That's why California's agriculture industry is much more diverse.

  17. I say again what can Cali do that can't be done in other states?, just because California is allowed to hold a title means nothing (except arrogant CA residents). An extreme example is how China was behind in 1988 vs now, anywhere in this nation can surpass CA with the right steps . Technology?, heard of Microsoft?, Boeing?, Amazon? hell even Ford? all non-CA companies. Hollywood?, who really cares about the smut TV, movie & porn industry with a bunch of whinny, entitled "actors" who try to "teach" American values?, plenty of good entertainment and shows outside of CA. Food?, food can be grown anywhere with plenty of land and sunlight (which TX and FL have). With all the problems CA is having you guys can have that "success".

  20. California's laws are only for Californians. Some other states have voluntarily adopted our standards set by CARB. So not sure how we are trying to tax and extort America.

  21. I'll take your comment about us Californians as a compliment. California only has 1 small coal power plant left. By 2026 it will be gone, as well as not allowing ANY electricity to be imported that is produced by coal. I have solar panels on my roof that supply almost 100% of my electricity. Last year I added more along with a heat pump water heater for my domestic hot water - further reducing my natural gas use. For heat in the winter I have radiant heat along with a boiler that is so efficient it vents out of PVC pipe. I am primarily on this forum because of the new Lincoln Aviator PHEV coming out and plan to add even more solar panels to feed it.- or some other PHEV. There is nothing wrong with pushing green. It is one of the reasons California on its own is the 5th largest economy in the world.

  25. That list is a hot mess. The one photo that is listed as a 2000 is wrong, it is a 1999. Was the only year you could get the illuminated running boards on the Explorer. They were decontented for the 2000 MY. Auto temperature control was introduced in 1995 with the redesign not 1998. Second generation front Airbags showed up in 1998 not 1999. LED Headlights became standard on the 2016 not 2018, Its odd they mention inflatable seatbelts as Ford no longer even offers them (they also got removed from the '19 Edge/Nautilus) or the heated windshield as the only model with that is the Transit Connect. They didn't mention that SYNC showed up in the 2008 model year. And Heated seats shows up in 1999 not 2007. They did however leave off MyFordTouch for the 2011 launch which was probably smart.

  26. I just checked it out the site and I just laughed my ass off. If you go to Explore you heritage and look at all the old Explorer pictures, What tires are on them? You would at least think they would have photoshopped the Firestone’s off first.
