  1. I love the ride in my Ranger. There's really nothing much I don't love about it. It really is a perfect blend of power, utility, comfort and style. (Granted style is subjective, but I dig it and that's all that matter to me!).

  2. In broader theme, absolutely. In the intended context, I believe that 2007's MKR concept gets credit as the first. It's interesting that they bounced between design directions in the concepts from the Sentinel, to the MK9, to the Navicross. I still wish more focus had gone into the eggcrate treatment that only saw life in the gen 1 MKX.

  4. Guaranteed the Aviator GT straight line performance will entirely shame the ST. I would put a crisp 100 bill on that one. Probably at least half second to 60. EDIT: I see you mean non GT

  5. https://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/trucks/a27955329/ford-ranger-2019/ Another great review by Popular Mechanics. Nice shot of old Ranger nest to the new one.

  7. At least they didn't call it Ensure...though it would fit the age group of Buick drivers better.

  8. Wondering if Buick will have to go to court with Mead Johnson for trademark infringement.

  9. You shouldn’t pay for it. I would tell them that you didn’t drop off your truck in that condition and Expect to get it back in the same condition. I would talk to the service manager. If no success, talk to the owner.

  10. Ford's research department is asleep at the switch given the apparent fact that no one opens a hood anymore. Why don't they take advantage of this? There's no need to waste money on prop rods, hinges, and releases. Just weld it shut. This would be package 400A (standard). On the slim chance a buyer would want to gain access to the engine make him/her pay for it. The 410A package would include a working hood with a prop rod for $1250. Those foolish enough to want the dangerous and failure prone gas charged struts would have to fork out $1500 for the 420A package. This of course would enable Ford to make more progress towards its 8% return target.

  11. Yeah, been wondering about that. The GM 6.6L gas was revealed the same day, and they were not shy about stating it's output.

  12. Not yet. Been pretty quiet since they announced it.

  13. Looks roughly NG Escape sized to my eyes. Don't care for the long flat hood. Should be shorter and front wheels pushed forward more. Even comparing to the Corsair, that hood just looks like its the wrong proportions.

  14. The 2.3L in my 2011 Ranger (same basic architecture as the current 2.0, 2.3 / ecoboost and previous 2.5L engines) has that distictive 4 cyl buzz which is due to the unavoidable secondary imbalance you get with an inline 4. It's especially noticeable at idle. The Rangers I've had with the cologn (4.0L) V6 were definitely smoother. I've been in a few a Cyclone V6 products (but never owned one) which seemed very ordinary in terms of engine smoothness. The old 4.2 V6 F-150s (had two of them myself) did get really coarse above 3000 rpm, which I blame on the 90 degree block. None of the 4s or V6s is anywhere near as smooth as the 4.6 modulars (or pretty much any other V8 I've tried) though. Also the 300 six in my old F250 is quite smooth despite the howling ps pump and lifter tick. Smoothness is definitely the best attribute of the straight six design.

  15. Keep in mind though... he was asked to design the 2013 MKZ with a version of the split-wing grille which had already been introduced with the '09 MKS, '10 MKZ/MKT, and '11 MKX. While his version was decidedly more handsome than the others, and was designed with context and purpose ("meant to evoke an eagle with outstretched wings), it was a theme he was forced to stick with. IIRC, it was rather controversial inside the Glass House at the time that he turned the vertical slats within each wing sideways and diagonal, becoming more whisker-like. The 2013 MKZ was the best-looking production Lincoln product in a decade when it was released. The guy has chops.

  16. Well half of them were gone but they just came back a couple of months ago.

  17. It's worth noting that Wolff's work - even the grille - wasn't at all controversial when it was designed cohesively. I don't have any inside info to indicate it will happen, but I'd love to see him at the helm of Lincoln design once again. His concepts may have been a bit too radical for circa-2014 Ford and Lincoln, but today it would be a much better fit.
