I would bet its just a high performance more track oriented car....no hybrid, no different engine etc etc etc....that entails complete re-design......not to mention crash testing, federalization...track only version for the win...stripped interior, no A/c ( thus the roof scoop ) maybe a full roll cage...GT-R.2 points

After being active on Lincoln and SHO forums for years and then getting involved with Mustang forums and clubs a couple of years ago, I see a HUGE difference in how the different types of buyers react to an issue. Not to paint with an overly broad brush but the Mustang group tends to be much more vocal, whiny and "herd mentality" than the others when it comes to complaining on social media. They also seem to believe more of what they hear or read without doing proper research. Just my observations.....2 points

Bullshit There's plenty of independent contractors or other trades companies (plumbers come to mind but they mostly use vans) who only need a 1500 series truck who still qualify as fleet buyers, and for the amount of money being asked for these things now, both Ford and RAM offer a far superior value.2 points

Escape 1.5L ecoboost std engine has more power than the RAV4s std 2.0L NA engine. Escapes optional 2.0L ecoboost has WAY more power than the Rav4 optional 2.5L NA engine. Both have hybrids.1 point

The most insane thing about the GT is being able to be competitive having a V6 biturbo, but you insist on a V8 as if that kind of propeller had some future. Countries are banning combustion cars and the next step in the GT's legacy is to be EV. Too late for V8. Its time to hybrid GT1 point

That would make sense, but I think that depends on future product plans. If the next Fusion becomes some sort of high beltline sedan/coupe/crossover thing-it would be roughly the size of the current Edge. I'd also assume it would be FWD/AWD Making the next gen Edge RWD would slot it more as the gas/hybrid powered "Mustang" crossover and Model E as the BEV.1 point

Ford/Lincoln and Hyundai/Kia have the best infotainment systems on the market. Impressed with the Ranger for a new vehicle, and hopefully they can keep up those numbers. This next year will be more of a tell. Edge/Nautilus/Ranger were the only updated products for 2019. 2020 with the all new Explorer/Aviator showing up soon, Escape/Corsair in mid fall, along with the new small SUV, F-150, Bronco, BEV, Mustang coming in the next year its going to be an accomplishment to keep those numbers high which I really hope they do.1 point

Again, everyone that touches Jeep ends up in bankruptcy. Willys, AMC, Chrysler (x2), etc, all 9 of them. They were "hot" in the 90's, cooled way off, and were hot again. They have had a couple months of decline and it will be interesting to see if it's a trend. They have never made great quality vehicles so they can't even fall back on that.... They do have great advertising and proof you can polish a turd, as evidenced by the hype of the POS Gladiator. I personally don't get the love for the Wrangler. It' rides horribly, is ugly like a Hummer and usually is either a Bro or "babe" truck that is gussied up to 'look cool' by someone who wouldn't be caught dead off road.1 point

Ford is keeping a lot of future stuff very close to the vest compared to 10-15 years ago. Why do you think there still hasn't been a ton leaked out about the Bronco, and why we STILL don't know the true capability of the new CD6 platform?1 point
-
It's so easy to look up ATP numbers and realize how not true that is. That's just laziness.1 point

True but from the standpoint of a buyer it means on average they’ll all make one trip back to the dealer.1 point

Multiple the problems/vehicle by the number of vehicles sold. If each sold 1,000,000 vehicles, then it comes out to 630,000 problems vs. 1,300,000 problems. There you can start the see the difference a seemingly insignificant number represents.1 point
-
This is the problem with 'Rankings' It is splitting hairs... The entire JD Power List is a statistical tie. The winner with .63 problems per vehicle and the last place with 1.3 problems. You cannot have .63 problems with a vehicle you either have problem or not, nor can you have 1.3 problems, they both round to about 1 problem per vehicle. At he end of the day, for the vehicle you really want, would you care if it had a 63% chance of a problem per vehicle, vs. 1 problem? What are the problems, that is what really matters.1 point

If you think the 1500 is hideous, just wait for the 2020 HD!1 point

A very long and detailed article on Jim Farley by Phoebe Howard in today's Detroit Free Press. Even Farley haters will be impressed, https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2019/06/19/ford-executive-jim-farley-toyota/1299871001/ Ever wonder why Peter D. dislikes Farley so much? Peter used to consult with Ford and Farley cancelled the contract.1 point

Sorry to hear you're having issues. If you'll describe what's happening in more detail maybe someone here can help. But please don't go posting over and over in multiple forums and topics - this one is fine.1 point

Depends on what you call define as improvement. More engine output and trans cogs? Agreed 100%. But durability they aren't even on the same planet. The last of the Splitports were pretty sorted out. The Cologne was getting there by 05 but still had issues that plagued it throughout its run. The 4R70W of that era was awesome compared that to the shitshow that the 5R55W/S/N always was. To make a reliable 5R, you have to rely *heavily* on the aftermarket because Ford never improved its weakest internal points. (OD planet carrier thrust washers, solenoid pack and servo bores) On the plus side, they made a lot of house payments for me. I'm not rose coloring the 3 generations of Fox. They were cooked spaghetti as far as the chassis was concerned and the interior quality was poor. But what I am saying is that the 05 car could have been SO much more before the bean counters got ahold of it. And the bean counters would have had less input with pony rivals on the market.1 point
-
Until Camaro relaunched and Challenger came back, they rested on their laurels instead of the constant advancement they are *having* to do now. The 05 could have been better, but it didn't *have* to be. The 4.0 and 5R55W/S/N being shining examples.1 point

The part about how GM is deliberately sabotaging its own fleet sales on the new truck is peak-GM nonsense. This is a fullsize truck... it is SUPPOSED to have big fleet sale component that drives profit. I predict the next big thing at GM will be limiting fleets sales of its fullsize vans and medium duty trucks too so it can brag about the low fleet sale % to wall street... ?1 point

Remember when Ford dropped out of first place when they switched over the plants for the new aluminum bodies?? Oh, yeah...thats right, they didn't....1 point

Maybe they should have bought FCA and made Ram the new GMC.1 point

Ah the good 'ol GM spin machine. No, don't make a competent product that doesn't scream of blatant cost cutting, just half ass it and run constant attack ads against your competition for being "new" GM, they sure let old habits die hard1 point

Other makers are waiting for a 'fire sale'. So they can get the "good parts", aka Ram and Jeep. OTOH: Some wishful Mopar fan-dreamers still think "a savior" will come along and "bring Chrysler and Dodge back under American ownership". And they think they can "bring back full line up of cars, including 2 door hardtops and station wagons".1 point
