  1. I got a private preview of the local Dealers loaded Reserve. The owner was going to take it for the night, but they thought there was a suspension problem (Does anyone read manuals these days) Any how after the owner left, they discovered there wasn't a defect, but you had to select the drive mode again after playing with it. Crisis averted, but owner had left for the day. I knew it arrived earlier with the new explorers, so as I drove by, I spotted them moving an Explorer limited to the showroom. OK, Right turn Clyde. Went back and first salesman said no one was allowed in and they didn't have the key, the owner kept it. So I drooled over the outside a bit, went in to have a look at the Explorer, next salesman wanted to sell me the Explorer, moments later the GM popped around the corner to say hello, asked what I was up to? Said "Man I saw her on the side and just had to stop" too bad the owner took off with the keys". What? No, I have the keys he said. I gave him the 220lb linebacker puppy eyes and he said "can't wait until tomorrow can you" A quick nope and we were off to play. I don't get to drive it until the owner takes it to show off to his friends, said I'd probably get it Monday for 24 hours????? Five smiles right there. OK, so here is my impression of my first visit: The top 10 1. Love at first sight, I am not a professional reviewer so forgive my articulation. 2. Did I say love at first sight yet? Holy bat-mobiles it is really handsome in person, the pictures do not do it justice. The new Explorer looks better than last years, but the Aviator will not be mistaken for its cousin. 3. Next wow moment...SHUT THE DOOR...wow is it quiet, I could not hear a word outside or the traffic going by. Compared to the Nautilus beside it, I could hear traffic faintly. Inside the Aviator was like being in a sound booth where they check your hearing. 4 The 28 speaker stereo...They had not tuned the radio yet, so I took it upon myself to tune to the local classic rock station, what a treat to blast AC/DC. The depth of field was amazing. I can't wait to personalize mine. 5. You'll fall in love with the sexy/handsome look It was just a wow moment walking up to it. It doesn't scream manly or feminine, it just screams look at me. 6. The steering wheel feels oh so sleek, sporty like. It is smaller than the Gators and the push to talk button at the 10 o'clock position was long over due. It just feels natural there. 7. The display seemed unobtrusive despite its size, I think it is some kind of designer trick. When you are navigating the menus it seems huge, but sit back look a the road ahead and you barely notice it. Maybe I'll notice it more when I live in it for 24 hours. 8. It was 94 out and the A/C was refreshing cold almost instantly, but it should be right? The engine noise was barely noticeable while revving the engine. 9. The seats were the same as the 30 ways in the Gator, so yes they were very comfortable. And the big test for me, was stretching my legs all the way straight without tangling in the pedals. 10. The double pull to open the hood...no more searching for that secondary latch...genius!!! The only negative thing about today was realizing it would be many more months until I get mine...at least I get this one early next week to rock and roll.

  4. Actually I think the big problem is a number of people were arguing the C8 would be over $100k because all other mid engine high performance cars were over $100k. However, when you break it down by materials the only real thing adding costs is the DCT. There was no reason for the C8 to costs over $100k. This was a big argument on the Corvette Forum for the last year. I had said is would start below $65k, so GM did do a good job at holding costs. They will ramp up production the first year to get back the R&D - which is another reason Corvettes are value priced. They can amortize costs over a greater volume. (I also think they advertised hiring extra shift well in advance because of the blow back they were getting for closing other plants). First year sales will be great and they will slowly decline over the run of this generation with upticks on new models - Z06, GS, ZR1 etc. I have ordered my last 3 and will probably do the same here and do another Factory Delivery. You get a private tour of the factory, go across the street and get a private tour of the museum and at the end is your car sitting on display and you drive it off. Great experience for any car enthusiasts.

  5. The test is NOT flawed. Any shudder recording of less than 250 RPM passes. Any recording 250 rpm or over, it fails and gets a clutch. The time time given to the technician is flawed. It pays .6 of an hour to the tech for all this: Get the car into the bay, verify warranty status, check for any new TSBs or other updated information related to it, connect a finicky diagnostic system, check for any codes that may relate to the shudder, perform the adaptive relearn on the clutch, test drive and record the shudder readings, and do the calculations for the shudder readings. If it passes, the job is done. If it doesn't, then *for no more pay* the technician must upload the data to Ford, then complete the required online (if Ford's website works) diagnostic form to get a required Repair Validation Code, or RVC, because Ford does not trust the word or competence of technicians. No RVC and the clutch replacement will not be paid for by Ford. Fudge the numbers or break the *VERY* specific criteria to record the shudder and the claim can and will be bounced by Ford even after the repair is done. If it was for any other non shudder/non TCM reason, the tech would get 1.0 hour *without* being chained to the upload and online RVC process. Again, the test is fine. I get over 90% failure rate even with the lack of time given to do the whole procedure. Their interpretation of the memo is wrong. The memo says that the vehicle MUST be repaired as per established procedures i.e. TSB 16-0109, the online guided routine in WSM section 307-01. Customer Resource Center has to be contacted for any after warranty assistance. Contacting CRC rarely gets the entire job covered, rather, it will give a portion towards the repair, unless they radically change the policies in this instance. I wouldn't hold my breath. Let's suppose they do cover your car. It HAS to be diagnosed as per the description I gave mybkvu above. If it can't hit the 250 RPM threshold or the seals are not leaking, you don't get a clutch, period.

  6. I am new here and I NEVER comment on political issues. That said I like the forum and felt that I should add my .02. To be clear I have studied political science as a hobby for most of my life including ancient political systems. What we are seeing very clearly in our new country is a scheme known as "Divide and Rule" by the political elites. The easiest way to control a populace is to divide them, and even best let them divide themselves! They do this by being opposed on very personal topics, topics that evoke the most emotion. I.e. my family, my children's future, my security, etc. Just look at who holds the power and who is making the most money; The politicians. We need to look at any of the rhetoric through that lens. I am a proud American, our founding fathers were brilliant and great political scientists. What they put in place is lasting, but is being broken down by the career politicians who are using our country for their own gain. Please help push for equal justice for politicians and non-politicians as well as the need for term limits. Thank you for a wonderful forum BY THE WAY!

  7. It is for a limited production vehicle but that wasn’t the point. The point was people are willing to pay over $400k for a GT because it’s a special car. I don’t see anyone ever paying that much for a GM vehicle.

  8. That's all good. I was just responding to the comment that the Ford GT beats the Corvette in revenue per vehicle - not the most important metric.

  9. I would like to know how anyone could save a million dollars raising a family, putting children through college, enduring layoffs, plants closings, illness ,concessions ,etc? What live in a shack or have help from Mommy and Daddy? Lets see if you could manage to save 200k over 30 years enduring the things I have stated then you are working in the wrong industry. You should be on wall street with the rest of the financial wizards that caused our economy to meltdown. And for the record I hired in over 30 years ago and many of those years I made about $700 a week before taxes ,not including the weeks I spent on subpay which is at least $100 less. Please expand on how one turns that into a million dollars. Are you talking about a million in assets like a house? You mean like my first house that I bought for 85k sold 12 years later for 150k.Then 10 years after that still the same 150k because of the housing collapse? And just who is this "commie" you are talking about? Not one candidate claims to be a communist. Who Bernie Sanders? You know that dirty commie who thinks healthcare, decent wages, college and and end to senseless wars owed to all people? That is right I said OWED to fellow human beings. Humans have a right to things like water the kind of things companies want to privatize.Maybe hopefully Ill live to see the day when the rich no longer exist. They do nothing but take from the people that actually do all the work. My God what would happen if all the greedy rich pricks in the world vanished????? NOTHING the world would continue on with a lot less misery.

  10. Are there any rich people that are not selfish? I have never come across one yet. I had a mall business and guess who tried to rip me off every time??? The ones with the biggest houses and most expensive cars in their garages.

  11. Starting price under $60k... what the f'ing hell? Really? And this time, the engine is the in the right place. This will be the performance bargain of the century. Half the price of NSX, not to mention R8 or Ford GT. And no BS required to buy one, no "invitation" needed, just order one from any Chevy dealer. GM is going to kick a lot of butt and sell a lot of C8. Much respect to what they've done and it's frankly amazing.

  12. I am ready to try "far left" .The far right is killing our nation and bankrupting the working class with their "Socialism" for the rich and never ending wars that kill our citizens, other nations citizens, make the defense companies rich and make the already rich and powerful more rich and powerful. Yes I am ready for that dirty old "Socialism" like the Nordic nations have. We have tried the good old American capitalism way long enough It is time for working people to benefit for once. And guess what if all the rich pricks disappeared the world would still go on believe it or not without yachts, mansions and private sex parties. The corporate owned news media's keep spewing the same old bullshit how everyone wants to be rich. Really the vast majority of people just want a decent living with enough left for a nice vacation, college for their kids and a decent place to live. What idiot thinks there are enough resources to build everyone a private skyscraper with a yacht and a helicopter???

  15. The rich and powerful are the biggest Socialists and welfare takers the United States has ever seen. I mean really they bail out the banks and wallstreet??? The very same assholes who stole all the money? And you are complaining about AOC? One of the only politicians I have seen to have enough guts to question lobbying and pharma execs on how they are gouging Americans with drugs that taxpayers paid to develop? Sounds a lot like Socialism to me. Why is it when the little people try to collect things they have paid for their entire working lives like social security are labeled an "entitlement" when its time to collect. Newsflash I am ENTITLED to it I paid for it! What we have in America is Socialism for the rich and free market brutality for the working class.

  16. Look trying to stop electric cars is bad for the whole world. The Union needs to do all it can to protect and get workers displaced new jobs and really good separation packages. My guess is coal miners who much rather be doing something else besides dying in coal mines or black lung. The green energy sector is the future. Solar ,wind, biofuels etc are limitless and clean. The only reason mass transit is appealing is because they are not paying Americans shit and they cannot afford cars or houses they are too busy going to college and getting in debt for a shit pay job when they graduate! as far as Dems I agree. I support progressives like Bernie, warren and Gabbard. I have worked like a good peasant for over 40 years and yet the rich and corporations never stop taking from working people so I say FUCKEM. I have had my fill of this shit kissing their asses. Bring on the strikes and not just UAW ALL working people. Let the rich pricks fix their own cars, grow their own food and empty their trash!!!!!

  20. The problem with Colorado's interior is the same as every other GM interior. It's looks ok in pictures but sit in one for yourself and it's painfully evident that they used the cheapest materials possible.
