  1. Because you're reading personal opinions. That's the reason I stopped reading reviews. When it comes to buying a vehicle, the only personal opinion I care about is mine, not what some internet writer thinks.

  2. The Renegade is roughly 14 inches shorter then the 2020 Escape...I don't think the Baby Bronco will be that small-The Renegade is little bigger then the Ecosport

  3. The whole point of C2 was that it has fixed mounting point for firewall to save cost - all the transverse ICE car are using it so Ford can use one set of components to save money both during engineering/design phase and manufacturing. BEV without the engine in front means moving the firewall and a lot of hard mounting points like steering rack and transmission etc. Location of battery also changes calculation for a lot of crash safety protection envelope. So no, you will not save any significant sum of money by starting with C2. Ford had said before the BEV is a cleansheet design to take advantage of the fact that it is not an ICE car. The lesson they learned from Focus EV was to not do an EV based on ICE platform. GM lost the economy of scale because it failed to capitalized on the Bolt platform to quickly add model and scale up. Ford is planning to introduce a whole bunch of models based on this platform so we shall see.

  4. As the story goes, the Mach E was originally a very boring looking car. Jim Hackett took a look, didn’t like it, and told the stylists to draw something they would want to own. So we get a Mustang inspired BEV. As for its market, Ford probably wants the car to stand out in an increasingly competitive BEV market. They’re hoping a snazzily styled, performance BEV will do that.

  5. Well, how 'bout Class 7 1/2??

  6. I think some of them are biased cause they are shocked that Lincoln produced such a nice ride! They just can't simply believe it. Imagine if an Audi has such power and a 30 way seat.

  7. They are not based on facts. They all agree on the HP and Torque, yet not one of the testers was dyno'd. Are they sure? They are all over the place when it comes to steering, handling, seat comfort and more, they are just a persons opinion. Read the reviews for entertainment value, that's all they are. I gave my opinion of driving one, it's worth as much credibility as anyone of the writers, its just my opinion. Some of those guys talked about how much better the Audi is, I drive a 2018 several days a week. I prefer the Aviator, just my taste.

  8. Its slightly crazy that a midsize sedan of today is faster then a 1960s Muscle car in the same categories and a 2019 Mustang GT offers supercar performance of the 1990s or so.

  9. I saw it on one of the brackets that holds the tailgate through paint shop, coincidentally right behind the current red, and I gotta say I hate it. I liked the hot pepper way better guess I gotta fall in love with another color or settle for something I can tolerate ?

  10. Model E has electric motor in front and back, without tall ICE and radiator in front of wheels, the whole look of the car changes. Respectfully, you're incorrect with a lot of your presumption. There were two projects, the initial compact BEV started well before the two Mid sized crossovers. Model uses a skateboard set up with battery under floot and motors front and back, it was run under C2 project to get top hat, steering and suspension modules and put the whole thing under a project that could help amortize costs. Bolt began as an extension of Gamma and part way through, GM realised that it needed to change those parts as well so yeah, no parts in common from Gamma yet retains a G2 prefix to the platform code.

  12. I think this is a very well written and fair-sounding review. Fuel Economy section gave me info I couldn't get from other reviews yet https://www.jdpower.com/cars/expert-reviews/2020-Lincoln-Aviator-Review?make=Lincoln&model=Aviator

  14. JP And the good news here is class 6 and 7 are posting better numbers vs. last year. Still nothing to brag about but positiver in any case. The 7.3 again will be a huge boost IMO. And in particular if they make propane /cng more of a factory option. Again we can't hold our breath on a diesel /trans combo beyond Powerstroke/Torqueshift. By the way, HDT does not post any class 8 figures for Ford.

  15. The 750 is available with a 23,000 lb rear and up to a 14,000 lb front axle which when equipped with correct tire ratings gives a GVW of 37,000 lbs. By definition a class 8. However, these trucks do not get reported as class 8 sales. Likewise in the old days when GM was still building the 6500-8500 "mediums", they did the same thing-even offering tandem rears-but they never reported class 8 sales figures. Anyone have any clue as to how that "works"?? Vehicle has a plate that says it meets spec for class 8, but manufacturer does not report sale as a class 8 As for single axle class 8 tractors, just a case of no need for tandem axles in a lot of applications as while GCW may be high, the combination doesn't scale out with typically more than 23,000 lbs on the drive axle.

  16. I did not realize that Class 8 "technically" starts a 33,001 lbs ! That must be why you see some Class 8 tractors with only one rear axle. Concur !

  17. That's a good question! I'm a Mustang enthusiast (fan boy) and would have no intention of buying this car. Teslas don't interest me either. If I wanted or needed a more practical Mustang......well, I wouldn't, I'd have the Mustang as the fun car and another more versatile car as well (actually, I own 2 Mustangs, one garage queen, one daily driver and a Kuga (Escape) for family/dog hauling duties). I don't want my Mustang to be more practical. I like what it stands for as it is. I would imagine the majority of potential Mach E owners will be those cross shopping Teslas and/or other hybrid "SUVs".......but it'll be interesting to see. What will also be interesting to see is if/when a Mach E turns up at a Mustang meet. Or would they? Would a Mach E owner care about the previous 55 years of Mustangs?

  18. Yes, I will be driving it before any decision - something I have not done in @ 20 years before buying a car. The last time I was on Route 66 was on the way home from a factory delivery of a new C6 Corvette - made it a point to go on it - even to the end after a detour to Vegas - Santa Monica Pier. May have to do that again in a C8.

  19. Seems a bit late for it, but is this a "mule" on an '08-'12 Escape body? Had an '01 Escape and an '09. Loved them both. Never warmed up to the '12-'19 models. In my opinion this baby Bronco could be what I have been waiting for.

  20. That's a crossover coupé. Don't expect a traditional boxy style SUV like Range Rover. The Mach 1 will be more X6M looking

  21. I have pics of the body of the baby Bronco. No, I wont post them. Note in the dealer preview photo. The right side vehicle. There is plastic trim at the bottom that goes across the bottom of the doors and wheel well lips.

  22. I agree that you’ll have some difference of opinion, but with the Aviator it seems so different. I too really don’t care what a reviewer has to say as I’ll be the judge if I like a car; they show some insights but at the end of the day I take their words with a grain of salt.

  23. You have to drive your own, or if you test drive one, check the mileage. Most people get to enamored with the bells and whistles and forget what's really important, the engine. Some will have great mileage and some will be a smidge less. The Res II I drove was excellent, if I get even a small bit of extra mileage and performance for 2500 more clams I'll be happy. There are plenty of options out there for those who don't like what is delivered. I'm pretty sure they will get the klicks, even if its not on route 66.

  25. Only statistic that matters. Ford produced about 135,000 1973 Mustangs (last of the old body style) and about 385,000 1974 Mustang II's. Absolutely, the car was a smash hit, and the right Mustang for the time. (Interesting tidbit: I worked at the Rouge Plant during the summer of 1974 and my job was to drive cars from one end of the plant parking lot, to another. I have literally driven hundreds of 1974 Mustang II's.).

  26. Here's my guess at the profile: I tried to retain the "dive" of the 2018+ Mustang's hood to the headlights

  27. stole this from jpd80 on another thread, but maybe this side profile of the Evos concept is similar to what it might look like.

  28. To Fuzzy's point, (first put on your Borg xray glasses) if you look at this Ford illustration and note the location of the headlights and how low the hood line is: and then compare it to this photo, using the headlight location as your guide: you can discern the front fender line beneath the camo, which in turn shows a really low slung front end. I think the form factor is very much in line with models from BMW and Mercedes:

  29. I’m not sure how I feel about this Spy shot. I’m having a hard time with the proportions. Perhaps their camo is working really well, because I’m not really digging it. Obviously I won’t pass judgment until the thing is actually revealed though. Fuzzy, can you provide any reassurance?

It looks pretty much like a car to me. I think my fusion has about the same ground clearance.

  35. You know that side profile is beginning to look like the Gen 1 Escape, are they recycling the early boxy silhouette on the C2 platform.. Ride height looks a little lower.....

But the speaker grilles for the Revel Ultima 3D system are actually "laser etched aluminum" and the grilles for the standard Revel system are "expanded metal". How do you mistake laser etched aluminum and expanded metal for cheap plastic unless your really looking for something to bash??

  38. My back seat passengers loved the tester, they said it was their most comfortable ride in many years (well they barked it to me) The floors fold flat, the dogs love walking, looking over my shoulder to make sure we are headed towards the park. The window height is perfect for my labs. I have the full console on order, so I will either have to have a cover made or find one already out there. The pup in my pic is a 70 pound pointador (Lab German short hair pointer mix) He loved the car, I think more than my truck.

  39. Like the 91 Explorer, I think this is only the beginning of the Aviator. As people seeing the Aviator sitting beside a new Explorer, the notion they are twins with one in play clothes and the other in church attire will go right out the window. I like the Crystal Copper, I ordered mine in Mocha then changed it to Blue Diamond. I had the White Res II and really liked the white. I don't think any color combo could be bad, they all look sharp.

  40. Black Label in white I was checking out the other day...

  41. Those reviewers just can't help themselves comparing it to the Explorer. Ford could literally change everything on the vehicle except the floor pan and they'd still complain.

  42. Just like F150 XLT w/302A. Not sure about Ranger but on the F150 the jump from the XLT 302A to a Lariat was about $8K-$10K because of the better incentives on the XLT. I couldn't justify spending that much more for leather seats, seat memory and auto HVAC.
