  2. I have seen a lot of bricked modules/corrupt software from people jacking around with Forscan with no idea what they are doing. You brick it, you bough it, no warranty. If you come in for something unrelated like a leak, still warranty. Stop/start is a part of the vehicle's overall emissions package. There will NEVER be a Ford/Lincoln approved method or update to disable it. Tampering with it is an EPA fine-able offense. OP You REALLY need to drive a vehicle with it. It is not noticeable at all. In fact, most customers complain when it *doesn't* work.

  4. Dodge Journey is popular as government fleet vehicle too. GSA (federal government), state, and municipal. Journey is like the Ford Taurus of midsize crossovers in the U.S., other than Journey lives on and Taurus is dead. Both are outdated and uncompetitive for retail new car customers, but cheaper than similar models when bought used or in bulk by fleets.

  7. https://insideevs.com/news/369896/ford-three-new-plug-in-hybrids-debut/ Ford's appears to be fully committed to staying in Europe with a full range of electrified vehicles. 8 launching in 2019 and 17 by 2024. Ford also confirmed for the firs time that both known Model E variants are slated for Europe - the Mustang inspired MACH E and the unnamed utility that Ford is planning to build at Flat Rock.

  9. Actually he’s right and you’re wrong here. All he said was most people find it’s not noticeable or objectionable and the ONLY way for you to know is to go drive it and then worry about it because there is a 80% chance or better that it’s a complete non issue. if you want to continue whining then you’ll have to endure us continuing to point this out.

  10. Sorry you lost me at government contracting. Color me not impressed. Nobody cares what you do or how much money you make. Getting all bent out shape when someone asks you a logical question, is on you. I am not a a moderator, but I will say all are welcome here. However, someone relatively new, such as yourself, needs to think about why they are here. If you are here asking questions, then you may want to be polite and listen. Just my opinion, take it or leave it.

  11. Ran into town for some supplies to start winterizing the house in a few weeks. Stop-Start worked every time! Yay! Then I realized when the cold hits I won't see it until Spring. ☹️

  12. Also disabling it permanently is technically a crime in some states as you are tampering with the approved emissions of the vehicle. It could even get worse if you were in an accident as the vehicle is technically not street legal under EPA rules, on top if a vehicle were totaled and you were paid out you then sold a party (Insurance Company) a vehicle with a tampered emission control system.

  13. You make me chuckle sometimes Kirby - I am not 'acting' anything. I am simply calling balls and strikes. Ford has nothing to brag about profit wise of late -they are far from industry leader there. I give them credit for staying in the black in an insanely competitive and fickle market. F-Series - great job over time. Hard to stay on top. Even the Yankees and Patriots don't win all the time. Dodge has momentum and is gaining though.... FCA is killing it because they have done a good job of convincing people their stuff is cool, even though the reliability and real world performance is not the best. Can they keep it up? Don't know, but nobody here saw it coming a few years ago. Toyota has a loyalty that any corporation would die for, I have no idea how they do it, most of their products are hideous to my eye, and far from class leading function and performance. Ford is conservative - and always seems 3 years away from being really great. I only drive Fords, that's just me, still loyal. No acting or false statements above - just calling it the way I see it.

  15. I once put 400lbs worth of topsoil bags in the trunk of my Focus. I desperately need a truck for some of the landscaping/construction projects I've been wanting to do for a few years now. Side note, those jump seats the ranger used to have were terrible. Looking back on it that was borderline child endangerment riding back there ?

  17. Wow - you guys got fired up over that Tacoma dominates statement - I dis-agree with your downplaying it, but that's ok, I know better than to debate with the cool kids. I can't help but think F-series is peeking back over its shoulder at Dodge Ram - who are those guys? Don't say it can't happen, if 3 years ago someone predicted Fiat/Chrysler would out-sell Ford in the US market, guys like RJ would have gone absolutely crazy dispelling that notion.

  20. Are you insane? Name one innovation for cars and crossovers that aren't generic to all vehicles. On the truck side you have 1000 lb/ft turbo diesel engines, trick tailgates, hitch systems, tow/haul transmission features. Pro trailer backup assist from Ford. Invisible trailer from GM. RFID tool tracking. Innovative bed storage and cargo options. F series engines: 3.3L V6, 2.7LEB, 3.0L TDI, 3.5LEB, 5.0L V8, 6.2L V8, 6.7L TDI, 7.3L V8 Tacoma engines: 2.7L I4, 3.5L V6

  21. I lied. There is no other market that is as competitive nor as profitable as full sized pickups. Each of the 3 major players outsells the entire midsized truck segment. The number of models and options and the level of innovation over the last 70+ years simply cannot be matched by Tacoma or Ranger or Canyorado. Also, your fascination with percentages as a measure of success without regard to actual volume is becoming tiresome. If you sold 10 vehicles last year and 110 this year that's a 1000% increase. If I go from 100,000 to 110,000 that's only a 10% increase. But I sold 10,000 more vehicles and you only sold 100 more. On what planet does that make you more successful?

  22. Of course, it is possible that Toyota succeeded in a segment that was almost gifted to it by GM and Ford it's easy to be the dominant marque when the two champs above step back for a decade.

  23. if you watched Football yesterday-you saw these...very well done-its nice to see Ford's new ad agency coming up with new ideas vs the same ole same ole they've had for years.

  24. It's been in production for a long time with many dedicated repeat buyers. Ranger lost some momentum there, and they're not yet offering a full range of Ranger products. This is about the best you'll see until the next gen, and Ford is ok with that which is why MAP is only on one shift. I would expect the next gen to be in the 10-15K range initially and build up over time to challenge Tacoma. But not overnight.

  25. Ranger climbing - but no conquest sales vs the Tacoma.. Can't think off the top of my head of a vehicle that faces well designed competition and dominates its class like the Tacoma does. Wow - whatever the secret is, Toyota has it.

  27. There will be a way to turn it off, I am 100% confident. It is just a matter of finding it. All it requires is changing a "1" to a "0" in a particular line of code. Voiding warranty? Lol, never... it is no different than putting it in Excite mode.. or hitting the off button upon startup every time. It does not do anything else and there is no way anyone could or would avoid your warranty on something the vehicle already does. No I am not affiliated with Forscan but have used it many times.

  28. It is at the end of its life, but more likely the result of losing the V6 was not enough people were buying it. Journey at this stage is pretty much the cheapest CUV of this size you can buy. Most likely people are not buying these to get all the options (because even optioned out, this thing is way outclassed by pretty much everything out there), but for basic transportation for a family that needs something a bit bigger. ...and since it is so cheap, I'm sure they are also trying not to compete internally with the Durango and Jeeps (since most are shared dealerships). This is a value buy whereas the Jeeps and Durango are seen as a bit more aspirational.

  29. I just got a 2019 Nautilus with Start/Stop and at first I thought I would hate it, but now I've grown to love it. This is my first Lincoln with the tech, but not my first Ford. The system works much better than others I've used before on Fords and I've never turned it off. The system operates almost imperceptibly, but the biggest difference is that the engine starts anytime you just twitch your foot on the brake pedal, so the engine starts well before you've even released the pedal. That's different from the 2018 Ford systems which only start after fully releasing the brake. The starter is extremely quick and it feels absolutely smooth, I don't feel like I'm harming anything. I really would not consider this a problem at all, and fuel savings is noticeable for me. On my 2018 MKX I was only getting around 19MPG, now I'm getting nearly 22MPG (the new AWD system and 8-Speed also has something to do with that). If you want to eliminate the Start Stop, in the Nautilus it turns off if you're driving in "Sport" mode. I assume the same for Aviator with "Excite". But the Aviator lacks a fixed button I believe, unlike the Nautilus. And to my knowledge, all Fords at this point have Start/Stop standard which can't be permanently defeated...easily anyway. But go Hybrid if you want to avoid it altogether. But I can't emphasize enough how much of a non-issue this really has become with better engineering.

  30. 24mpg at 75mph? Psshh, I bet @akirby can manage 30mpg in his 3.5EB at 75mph. All kidding aside, I’m sure the 2.7EB could come close to 24mpg at a 75mph cruise, provide similar capabilities (towing, etc), and is likely more cost effective to maintain.

Eyes are getting old, I thought it caption read "Ordered a 2020 Corvair'. ? <-- laughing at my mistake, not the car you've purchased. I try to keep mine for 7-10 years before trading, otherwise I'd be tempted for a new Lincoln.

  34. The pickup truck market overall and full size pickups in particular in the U.S. are super profitable, sure. But levels of competitiveness and innovation in the pickup truck segment lag behind passenger cars and crossovers. Both can be explained by the market distortions caused by 25% tariff on imported pickup trucks.
