  1. If she's doing the same work as employees making half her pay, then it sounds like she's way overpaid. It's not about how much the company is making or how much the CEO gets paid the question is what's the market rate for that job? What would they get paid for the same work at another company/industry? You can't demand higher than market wages unless your union controls almost all of the industry - like Detroit did back in the 60s and 70s. Back then it didn't matter if they were overpaid as long as EVERYONE was overpaid the same. Now it matters because they're competing with non union mfrs and imports. The union knows this - that's why they agreed to tiered jobs and temps, etc. If they want less temps and higher pay for newer employees they'll have to give up the legacy raises and pay more of their health care costs. That's just how it works.

  2. In 6 months buyers won't remember or care. Happened with the 2013 Fusion/MKZ.

  3. I do think GM management blew their wad prematurely by releasing their offer on the able to the public just hours after the strike announcement. Both GM and UAW know that a day or 2 wont hurt the bottom line all that much, that missing production can be made up very quickly. If this were to drag out until Wednesday or Thursday without an agreement, then you have more leverage by releasing that information. Make no mistake, UAW leadership doesn't really care about public opinion and GM should know with the culture being so anti-corporate these days there's no way they come out of this looking good in any way.

  4. Hmmm Who’s Next ??? Training center scandal now includes ex-UAW official connected to union's GM department 23,000 watches The allegations against Grimes focus on a number of alleged schemes. In one case starting in 2006, the filing said, Grimes recommended a vendor to provide 23,000 watches to the GM center to distribute to one of GM's powertrain divisions. After "Vendor A" got the contract, "Grimes approached Vendor A and demanded a loan to purchase property in Rose Township, Michigan. When Vendor A refused Michael Grimes's demands, Michael Grimes threatened to cancel the watch contract." The vendor provided $60,000 for a mortgage for the property in addition to a "consulting agreement" worth $1,800 per month that eventually increased to $3,800 per month, the filing said. "In exchange for Vendor A's kickbacks, Michael Grimes would secure the 'watch order,' ensure the retention and maintenance of Vendor A's retail stores in the GM plants and secure future business contracts between Vendor A and the UAW GM Department. In November 2006, Vendor A paid Michael Grimes $60,000," the information said. An additional $900,000 in bribes, painted as consultant fees, were paid in the form of 27 checks from November 2010-October 2017 to either "KKG Consulting" — a sham company — or one of Grimes' relatives, the information said. Team UAW jackets In another case in 2011, Grimes recommended the same vendor for a $6 million contract for 50,000 "Team UAW-GM" jackets, the information said. Another official, described as "Union Official 1," wanted a cut of that deal, and Grimes was directed, by someone known as "Union Official 2," to demand $300,000 in kickbacks. "Union Official 2" got $30,000 of that money, the government said. As part of the deal, Grimes was also able to pay off a land contract for a house in Fenton with a $530,000 check from the vendor, the information said. The paperwork references other deals, including a $5.8 million contract to provide 55,000 backpacks for UAW members and a separate watch contract involving a different vendor. It also noted that a piece of real estate in Fort Myers, Florida, and a 2017 Jeep Wrangler are subject to forfeiture if Grimes is convicted on the wire fraud conspiracy charge. The Florida property, according to Zillow.com, is a 2,722-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bathroom house that sold in February 2017 for $730,000.00 I got one of those backpacks at the ConCon ?

  5. Mine is still "In Production" since it was built on 7/19. I'm already getting cold feet. If it's not perfect (looking) i'm not taking it. Still worried about the AC and suspension, not to mention look to see if panels have been repainted..

  6. People won’t remember but I guarantee it will turn off some prospective buyers; like I said once mine is finally ready now that it has to be repainted if there’s a single blemish I’m not taking it.

  10. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want a pension. I would rather be in control of my retirement fund. Stupid question, do temps get to vote on the contract?

  11. I`m with ya Cecil. All I am saying is that ,read these new contract deals carefully, because there will be somethings going the Company`s way.I happen to be an electrician and when you see the headlines "No combining of trades" it makes me laugh.More is constantly pushed onto the electricians. We are the ones sold out.Whenever the Company red-lines a trade, these workers are feather-bedded until their time runs out.If any piece of equipment in that plant has a wire or a battery be it an office machine,a computer,a broach machine,an oven , a light fixture well its electrician time! Then again it is job security and there is one way to make trades happy as a pig in mud.Let them live in the plants and make $200,000 a year. The company wants only 2 trades electrical and mechanical, like at Flat Rock Assembly. As for the pensioners,we have been divided-THANK YOU BOB KING.The time to strike to stick up for those new hires who dont get a defined pension was at least 2 contracts ago.Paying the workers different amounts of money to do the same job causes resentment. It has been proven with experiments on animals. The temps will vote as a group and production will either pass or fail the next contract.

  14. Hi Chris and welcome to the Blue Oval Forums. The subject of Ford ESP/FordProtect Plans has been discussed many times here, so I am going to copy and paste a slightly edited, previous reply of mine. "Among the variables, pricing will vary according to which Plan coverage level you choose (Powertrain Care, BaseCare, ExtraCare, PremiumCare). Then there are coverage years/mileage/deductible options. And then there are plan options in the top of the line PremiumCare level, such as coverage for interior/exterior LED lighting (yes, it is optional), keyfob loss/replacement coverage (also optional), rental car coverage etc. So the final pricing is based off your VIN and plan coverage choices. And just as in purchasing a car, pricing is not "fixed". Your individual local Lincoln/Ford Dealers can markup and charge whatever the market will bear and/or an uninformed customer will pay (again, just like buying a car). So negotiate (although the online discount sellers are pretty well already at rock bottom). In my experience, I have found the best pricing at these online sellers: http://www.zeiglerfordesp.com/ https://www.floodfordesp.com/ https://www.lombardfordwarrantys.com/ You can find other online sellers if you Google "Ford ESP". I received the lowest price and purchased from Zeigler Auto Group for my last three Lincolns. Plan prices from those online sellers on my 2018 MKZ were all ~$1,000 less than the initial offer from the Lincoln Dealer where I purchased and my other local Lincoln/ Ford dealerships. And still over $300 less than the best local price even after negotiating with those same local Dealerships. For the sake of reference, that savings was for a Lincoln Protect, Premium Care, $0 deductible, 8 year/75,000 mile plan with LED lighting coverage, key replacement/loss coverage and no first day rental car coverage. Flood Ford was next lowest each time. Hope this information helps and good luck with whatever you decide."

  19. A lot of the 2020MY Explorer's arriving at dealerships lately were those produced prior to the OK to Buy. Most have them have the repair notices inside the vehicles. Even so there have been a lot of damage claims, far above average, for paint chips, gouges and scratches. One 2020 Explorer ST received had paint chips right next to the left taillight that was very visible requiring the vehicle to go into the body shop for the Left Rear Quarter Panel to be repainted at a total repair cost of approximately $750.

  21. the article is actually being generous about the issues, there are issues not mysterious just stubborn management don't listen to veteran employees, we called out the issues in May they ignored until it became a headline. 6 month retooling done in 30 days new equipment into a 100 yr old plant, low moral during contract negotiations, I can provide a book of excuses as to way the quality isn't there. A nice new shinny contract will do wonders to moral and help put the quality back into the products we build. Delaying and extending only gives workers more time to stew in the headlines of scandals dragging moral down even further along with the quality of the product.

  22. It boils down to this-the Baby Bronco is more or less a reskin of the 2020 Escape-most of the "hard stuff" is done already. The regular Bronco is part of a major upgrade for the Ranger program- New frame to fix V6 engines, Completely new Top hat/body and other things that require more engineering work.

  23. As an ST owner.. this type of BS gives owners zero confidence in the product. After a 2011 disaster with numerous recalls and TSBs, I expected a recall here and there but this many issues already.. this many delays... and zero communication from Ford to customers really angers me. Thank god I have an 8yr/150k ESP on it. Here we go again with. Being the Guinea pigs and being their damn testers paying premium pricing at launch. I already have 3 issues.. 1) missing the tow adapter that screws into the bumper ( all explorer forum members are missing them.. great QC). 2) trim piece scratched on the outside, 3) reclining lever is scratching the seat base.

  25. Oh I sat in one at my local dealer and the glasses holder wouldn't close there were multiple misaligned body panels. Not as bad as what you've shown above but just not what I'm looking for in a $70k vehicle.

  26. Nope. This is why nobody wanted to go to body. We all knew we would all be extras until the Bronco launches, which BTW the union still insists is happening this year.

  27. Is the tow eye supposed to be supplied standard? I got my 2018 Limited last year and there was none supplied. It had the slot for it, but it was not there. I bought it myself, I just thought that was the way it came.
