  1. I know they don't seem to be focusing on quality these days, but this is HORRID. Look at that wavy rear quarter panel window and sheetmetal. Exposed bolts holding panels on. GOODNESS. How Ford has gone downhill...... Lol. I wonder how many will fall for that. Guess we're seeing out Fusion successor here, and pretty much seems to be what we expected - a Ford Outback. I still question how big of a market there is for this type of vehicle (Subaru buyers are a different breed). But if they feel there's a market for them - and one where they can make more than a traditional sedan body style - then I hope it works!

  2. There is no reason they shouldn't be developed together. Fusion Active vs. Edge is probably like Escape vs. Baby Bronco.

  3. I can validate that in my 3.5LEB F150 vs. my old 2.0L Fusion and 3.7L MkX. The larger EB engines are finally delivering the promised fuel economy improvements. 8 and 10 speed transmissions are also helping the larger engines match the smaller engines fuel economy in a lot of cases. My F150 chugs along at 1200 rpm in 9th or 10th gear and has enough power to avoid downshifts even on inclines. It's very efficient.

  4. I would be shocked if they didn't try for a Lincoln crossover coupe. I'd make the next gen Continental or Zephyr a crossover coupe with coach doors.

  5. As a previous first gen pre order customer. First thing I do is not to get excited about delays and slips. You say you want pristine, don't rush anything. Delays, OOPS, recalls, are all part of first run products. Year three is usually the time when you can count on a timeline, as long as there is not a Blizzard, Strike, Flood, Tornado, Fire or any other unplanned event. Do you have a VIN? Your Lincoln Concierge can see everything Cyber sees. He should be able to see scheduled to week or if it is close, to the day. You mention scheduled production day, what was your day and VIN? If you were scheduled to day and it slipped, there would be a reason, commodity problem, or yours was selected for crash testing. (Don't worry they have good tools and will fix it) Just kidding, you'll get a new one.

  6. This is definitely the Fusion Active test mule. Next gen Fusion was always planned to move to C2. I don’t know the product development code for this one. But I have seen the mock up early buck. It’s very attractive and is a mix of Fusion, Edge, Escape and Subaru Outback all mixed together. It’s rugged like an Outback but in a classy way. It blends a number of designs well. Make no mistake this will be called Fusion or Fusion Active. I’m not sure how big the market is for this but maybe Subaru’s secret sauce isn’t so secret. Ford needs to market this the right way in order for it to succeed. ive heard either Hermosillo or Oakville as production locations. Not finalized yet.

  8. I think these are the rumored Wagoneer mules based on the Ram chasis...thats what the mopar guys were stating.

  9. Looks like a Ram product. My initial thought was some sort or Ram 1500 mule. But now I see it's shorter than that. But it still has a Ram look to it.

  10. You are also locking out the capacity in a single plant if both vehicle sales take off. The C-segment utility is now the biggest vehicle segment. Ford probably needs to have the flexibility to ramp up production here. If they can't sell 350k+ units here, they really have no business being a car company anymore.

  11. Sigh... Ford just cut the shift at the end of last year-fully knowing that the Escape sales would shrink going forward due to age and the new model coming out this year and put them to work on the then hot selling Navigator and Expedition I'd expect the the Baby Bronco to sell about 50-100K units a year and running a plant with three shifts like that has a whole host of problems associated with it when you run it full out at those numbers your talking about. Plus why not build the baby bronco in what is going to be an underutilized plant in Mexico and make more profit off it? Just look at this way: Even if Escape sales are flat-270K units Baby Bronco-50-100K-depends on how much impact on Escape Sales Corsair is 20-30K units alone for the US market. That puts you well over what the max capacity is for the plant.

  12. It' probably not a Ford. If I had to guess, I'd say this is the long rumored Hyundai truck.

  13. Because it's cheaper and easier to chop up and stitch together an existing vehicle for this phase of testing while the production body isn't ready for prototyping yet. It tells me that there's not many, if any, major suspension changes.

  14. The baby bronco was never going to Heromsillo and it would outright stupid to stick it Louisville. Given the timing everything, the smart money would be Cuautitlan. It just ended Fiesta production and the Mach E is going there-but Ford is only planning about 40K Mach Es a year-that leaves lots of room for the Baby Bronco or other products.

  15. Sounds like they're going to wind up limiting production of all three of Escape, Baby Bronco, and Corsair if they go with that move.

  16. The EPA says Nautilus the 2.7L is more fuel efficient than the 2.0L, on the highway (26 vs 25), and the 2.0L is more than the 2.7L in the city. (19 vs 20). So its really a wash in this vehicle

  17. I guess Ford prefers the flexibility of a Chassis cab so the customer can fit their own configuration

  20. Looks like an Edge prototype behind the Mule, I wonder if they are being developed together.. Or is that a cooling /powertrain mule followed by a prototype Fusion Crossover?

  23. I'm with you - BL should be the pinnacle of the brand. Have it come with everything and you just pick a theme and exterior color.

  24. Most people here agree it's a car? I see no reference to such a product in the development codes, at least for North America. The other mystery is what happens to EcoSport, NA is not on the sheet for the next-gen replacement. I wondered if this code was the replacement, but this C-Segment product doesn't look cheaper and I don't think a Fusion replacement would bridge that gap. So there is still one more question in the lineup for me, what happens to EcoSport.

  25. I'm definitely of the belief that Black Label should be reserved for only the maxed out configurations. When you buy Black Label, the only thing you should have to select is the theme. The only thing I don't want standard is Trailer Tow, and if there are exotic powertrains like PHEV. AWD should also be standard on BL. The fact you can buy cheaper BL vehicles than Reserve makes no sense and diminishes the sub-brand while increasing costs to the dealer and diluting the value of exclusivity. I think they are starting to fix this now and scaling back BL to only certain high-end vehicles. I bought a fully-loaded BL Nautilus and love it.

  26. I'm not sure why they are basing a C2 Crossover mule on a C2 Focus either, they would have to do less butchering with the new Escape as its basis. So it doesn't make much sense to me. But the only remaining Crossover code mystery is the CX758...and here is a mystery new crossover mule. I was also under the assumption that the CX758 was going to be an affordable small utility, the one Ford is promising for 2022. So I'm still not clear on what the lineup is going to look like by 2022/23. But Fusion remains in production through 2021 so this is right on time.

  27. I think this is probably the CX758, which is essentially the Crossover companion of the compact pickup (P758). Those are suppose to arrive sometime in 2022 to be assembled at Hermosillo. The lengthened wheelbase would probably serve both vehicles well, but I didn't picture the CX758 as a low-slung Fusion replacement, but that would explain why the pickup has a crossover companion in the project code. I like the potential here, but obviously it depends on the final product. The mule tells us nothing about the final product besides the wheelbase.

  28. I'm far from a Ford/Lincoln insider but it looks like the commitment is continuing based on some of the recent decisions like promoting stand-alone Lincoln dealerships and with some of the no-compromise design decisions made for the Aviator and Corsair. I'm wondering about new products though between now and the projected 2023 MY release (likely out in late calendar year 2022) of the "Nautilus-sized" BEV crossover. Is the redesign of the Nautilus itself still on track? What is going to be done about replacements for the sedans? Ford will be having a lot of product coming out in the next couple of years for which we won't be seeing Lincoln counterparts (F150, Bronco, Baby Bronco, "Mustang-inspired" BEV, etc.).

  29. Sounds like they cut a few corners on the interior but it's probably not as bad as the reviews and people named Perez make it out to be. I think they went upscale on the Telluride because they don't have a premium stable mate like Aviator. It will be more interesting to see the comparisons to the others in the class. I'd also like to see the price comparisons to the others to see if Kia is lowballing Telluride. If Explorer Platinum and Limited are significantly higher than the competition then that might be a problem. Seems like a gamble. Maybe it pays off. The most concerning thing to me (other than the high trim pricing) is the complaints about ride and handling. CD6 should be providing better handling than the FWD competition and they should have good ride quality to go with it. If you're going to charge a premium you better have premium ride and handling.
