  2. I think we are reading into this way too much. Ford has already begun switching over the old Fiesta plant for the Mach E and Baby Bronco. Mexican production will allow a greater distribution network to other nations as it has cheaper labor and has better trade deals. Escape and Corsair stay as only products for Louisville. Also remember that China will start building the Corsair. That will save around 1,500-2,000 units of production for North America. Also have seen rumors the Escape will be built in Argentina to replace Focus production. This means Mexico and other Latin American markets might get production from that plant instead leaving the Louisville to only have to serve (mostly) the US and Canada. Again, that frees up production. As for what could join the Baby Bronco and Mach E at the old Fiesta plant? There were old rumors in China that were calling for a smaller than-MkC (at that time) crossover. That would most certainly be on the slightly smaller version of C2 with the Baby Bronco.

  3. Just to let you guys know a little piece of not so important information, I work at Oakville Assembly Complex and we just finished production of the last MKT'S last week. The Flex is due to be phased out December 1st. We are working 10s in Trim Chassis and Paint. In Bodybuild, we are still on 3 shifts till January when the company wants to cancel the c-shift. Not set in stone though. It will be interesting to see what and if we get anything other than NG EDGE NAUTILUS after our contract next year. Our plant is massive and can easily handle more products. Dollar is lower and yes it fluctuates so we shall see what FOMOCO has in store for our 1 Canadian Assembly Plant. Fords little Canadian footprint.

  4. You are correct. The overall majority decides the contract. If the new terms says that trades does not make 1 penny more than production and instead, spread that extra money around to everybody and it passes by a majority, its gold.Trades are kept happy with overtime.

  5. I hear you. I don't like the Tesla interiors at all and after talking to a Tesla mechanic and hearing how expensive suspension fixes are - no thanks! I actually am near the same page as you - I drive a Cadillac ELR PHEV, so I get my green, but gas when I want it, and I get 35 mpg when I do choose to run on gas or the battery runs out. It solves a lot of problems for me since I drive so much living in the burbs now. But the biggest reason I bought the ELR wasn't the fact that it was electric or gas, it's because of the luxury interior which is stellar. I didn't care really about ultimate power, it just needed to be as fast as the electric car it was replacing which was a BMW i3. As far as I know, at least at the time of buying my used 2016 at the beginning of the 2019, it is the only real luxury car that can get 40+ electric (I get near 50 in the summer) AND run gas whenever wanted. It does feel good whenever I'm stuck in traffic or at a long line that I'm just sitting there not using any gas. Really wanted to wait for the Corsair and the hybrid availability for the wife's car but she put her foot down and said no "Black Label - no Corsair" ? after touching the interior surfaces of the BL Nautilus. That being said, I'd love to go green in a Lincoln but when a battery upgrade like to Grand Touring in the Aviator is going to cost $12,000 more, it kinda takes the wind out of the sails. I'm curious to know what it's going to be in the Corsair.

  6. FTFY. Sorry but it drives me crazy. You are correct that the dealer doesn't have to accept X plan on any vehicle. Also you're required to disclose that you want to use X plan up front with the dealer. If your preferred dealer won't accept it, just call around and you'll probably find one willing to take it on an order. The price is the same.

  7. You really could say this for every single brand of vehicle. There are always problems. Some better, some worse.

  9. I don't know but I agree with you that Ford should have a 2nd production site for C utilities. Ford is the only major volume car company in North America that has such a low capacity threshold for C-utilities. A single plant with around ~300k output without really putting quality control or labor relations in serious jeopardy. Ford has 1 plant in North America building Escape/Corsair, with Baby Bronco TBD. GM has 4 plants in North America building Equinox/Terrain, XT4 and will be importing Trailblazer and Encore GX (which are C-segment, no long B-segment) from Korea. And they also said they are building next gen Buick Envision in North America. Toyota has 2 plants in North America building RAV4 and also imports it and NX from Japan. Honda has 4 plants in North America building CR-V and RDX and also imports CR-V from Japan. FCA has 2 plants in North America building Compass and Cherokee. Nissan has 2 plants in North America building Rogue and also imports it from Korea and Japan, and Rogue Sport from Japan. Hyundai/Kia has 2 plants in Korea building Tucson and Sportage. VW has 1 plant in North America building Tiguan and will add another one building Tharu shortly. So basically, everyone in the industry has already made their bet... C-utilities are the new midsize car and everyone has the capacity to grow. Except for Ford. Unless of course Ford adds a 2nd line to build Baby Bronco and Escape overflow.

  10. Deaf, I'm struggling with your obsession regarding the Tow Package. It IS an option, nobody is forcing you to order a vehicle with it. You can't blame dealers if THEY find that vehicles WITH Tow Packages sell better, and put it on their in-stock vehicles. But this has to be the 4th or 5th time you've specifically mentioned it. Why do you think it's being forced on you? HRG

  11. Baseline (stock) #s 255whp & 299wtq 0-60 = 7.24 sec 93oct tune #s 295whp & 373wtq 0-60 = 5.77 sec (not sure if with or without octane booster) 93 + octane booster #s 325whp & torque limited to 393wtq to avoid potential BOOM.

  12. Corsair production was moved to China which reduces some of the volume needed at the plant. Ford cut a shift at Louisville to move those employees to expand SuperDuty/Expedition production. Ford has been drawing down Escape sales ahead of 2020 by reducing incentives to get them ready for the more expensive 2020 Escape. Hackett had a whole spiel about it in one of their quarterly conferences. Ford has more than enough capacity for Corsair, Escape, and Maverick at Louisville if they can restore the third shift, but obviously they need to hire people back to the plant. At its peak, it had a capacity of 340K, but Escape is poised to sell 250K this year (peaked at 308K in 2017). Maverick is more of a premium product, it's not that cheap with standard AWD and won't sell in Escape numbers. It's essentially like a premium Ruggedized Escape, it's lower volume but bigger margin. Collectively they'll retain or grow their C-Segment high-point while keeping prices up, the segment was degrading into a lower margin commodity like midsizers and Ford has been talking allot about avoiding that trap with this dual-product approach.

  15. comedy...we had a gentleman come in specifically to try the self parking feature, salesman took it for granted he knew he had to control the brakes...he didn't....3 cars were damaged on the lot. And he refused to accept responsibility. The new/ latest version brakes for you...all you are in charge of is forward and reverse,

  16. Both the 7.3L gasser and the revised 6.7L diesel PLUS the 10 speed transmission have to make the Medium Duty buyers (F600, F650, F750) happy to be called a success !

  17. These things really are the ICBMs of the truck world, you just know that GM and FCA are not going to sit back and admit they're beaten.... 7.3 is looming large as a good alternative for those who want more power without paying $8,000 for a diesel, that's going to attract even more buyers.
