It’s much bigger than an EcoSport , probably ideal for buyers who Want something like a Fusion but not as tall as a full on Utility3 points

That's unfortunately the trade off for eliminating the second tier. The company saves money by paying workers less for longer. The endgame is one tier and one pay scale. Newer workers will benefit from it quicker (a $7 an hour raise in their 4th year! WOW), but 4+ year workers will still work longer to top out. I think that's why they increased the signing bonus. They didn't want to take the $7 an hour hit now, but were okay taking the hit in 2023. It's not fair that some workers will work 8 years to top out, while new hires will top out in 4. Maybe the UAW should try to get those Ford workers who are effected by that a bonus for each extra year worked at the lower wage, or a contribution made into their 401k's for their extra time. It could help get a YES vote from them, because that will be a sticking point for those workers. The company only cares about getting a 51% approval, but the union could at least ask to try to make it right.2 points

In progression should have gotten an extra raise upon contract signing, instead of a lump sum bonus to make the process even quicker. Bonuses are good, but raises are BETTER and permanent!2 points

The only issues I've had are an occasional landscaping reminder and having to fill out forms before making changes. That's it. Never had anything denied. We just built a pool at our new house and it was approved with no questions in 1 week. It's not nearly as bad as people make it out to be (with a few exceptions). In return you get amenities like tennis courts (tennis is huge in Atlanta - every neighborhood has multiple teams), swimming pool (with swim teams for the kids), basketball, baseball, volleyball courts, walking trails, clubhouse that can be used for meetings and special events, etc. etc. etc. And you don't have to worry about your neighbors killing your property value.2 points

They mostly despise domestic brands and turn up their noses at Lincolns as re-badged Fords, even though they share hardly any exterior or interior parts. Meanwhile look at the models with some of the worst reliability and depreciation, and you'll see the coveted German ones.2 points

It’s a slap in the face to someone who has time in the progression system for a new hire to be at the same rate of pay in 4 years in what will take us 8 (not counting the 7 years of temping ). They should roll anyone over to top pay with 4+ years immediately period. That’s how it was in the 2015 agreement.1 point

All explorers are coming with 45psi in them. We are all lowering them to 33 and the ride is far better. Every member on the Explorer forum has reported it and dealers apparently are morons and not adjusting it as part of the PDI.1 point

Hi Professor. Unless the Aviator is different than every other Lincoln and Ford, the dates listed on the Window Sticker are not Build Dates.1 point

If you’re in progression with between 5-8 years of service and vote yes on this contract you need your head examined. I got 7 years and was going to legacy rate next year anyway. Also to add insult they give Pension eligible employees $1000 for savings and nothing for in progression. ???1 point

Thats what I'm saying. For those of us with 4+ Years should immediately go to the top wage upon ratification.1 point

"Under the skin, the new Ford Mondeo replacement will be based on the Ford C2 platform, the same underpinnings used for the new Focus – the one that won’t be sold in North America. Notably, the C2 architecture is highly flexible and can support vehicles like the Focus, as well as bigger models. In fact, it’s similar in that regard to the Volkswagen MQB architecture matrix." http://fordauthority.com/2019/07/ford-mondeo-coming-back-crossover-global-market/ This is definately the next gen Mondeo/Fusion. Whether or not it has a third-row, we will have to wait.1 point

The Escape based mule in the back is the Mach E mule I think. Baby Bronco will not be built in Louisville for they are intending to sell it in North and South America. Quote from AutoNews: "Ford said in the second quarter analyst call on Wednesday that a 'Baby Bronco' new small rugged SUV planned for 2020, would not be one of them. The car will be sold only in North and South America." https://europe.autonews.com/automakers/ford-will-ax-ka-minicar-europe1 point

So this our Taurus X replacement? Is it roughly the same size or smaller? It's hard to tell.1 point
-
I tell ya what, if they nail the styling and the features, that could find a ton of homes out here in the Northwest. One of them could be mine.1 point
-
You can see that in the mule behind it also-Not 100% if they are the same product, but the mule in the back has a shell over something that is smaller-since the wheels sit in about 2 inches from the body1 point

Just to let you guys know a little piece of not so important information, I work at Oakville Assembly Complex and we just finished production of the last MKT'S last week. The Flex is due to be phased out December 1st. We are working 10s in Trim Chassis and Paint. In Bodybuild, we are still on 3 shifts till January when the company wants to cancel the c-shift. Not set in stone though. It will be interesting to see what and if we get anything other than NG EDGE NAUTILUS after our contract next year. Our plant is massive and can easily handle more products. Dollar is lower and yes it fluctuates so we shall see what FOMOCO has in store for our 1 Canadian Assembly Plant. Fords little Canadian footprint.1 point

Hi Flying68. Just in reference to your second question concerning "...are the updates the same part number, could I just use my download for the '19 Expedition on the '17 MkC?": The answer is an emphatic no. Do not do it.1 point

You are correct. The overall majority decides the contract. If the new terms says that trades does not make 1 penny more than production and instead, spread that extra money around to everybody and it passes by a majority, its gold.Trades are kept happy with overtime.1 point

I know they don't seem to be focusing on quality these days, but this is HORRID. Look at that wavy rear quarter panel window and sheetmetal. Exposed bolts holding panels on. GOODNESS. How Ford has gone downhill...... Lol. I wonder how many will fall for that. Guess we're seeing out Fusion successor here, and pretty much seems to be what we expected - a Ford Outback. I still question how big of a market there is for this type of vehicle (Subaru buyers are a different breed). But if they feel there's a market for them - and one where they can make more than a traditional sedan body style - then I hope it works!1 point

Tesla did NOT invent the Electric car...but I will give them credit for upping the ante and lighting a fire under the segment. And performance isn't only in a straight line....theres are a multitude of vehicles which aren't as quick in a straight line that would eat the tesla for lunch on a track or a winding mountain road, that are more enjoyable for enthusiasts. Electric is, IMO, NOT the Future yet, and wont be for a while...I believe Hybrids are more viable, it will take decades before plug in stations match the convenience of a regular gas station. And I for one wouldn't buy any vehicle where I have to plot out where and when I am obliged to stop knowing what my range is. Anything with an ICE doesn't have that issue. As for Harley...their electric bike is failing miserably, so Im not sure that should be used as an example...or Faraday, or Dyson....Fisker, Aptera, Coda...Detroit Electric....1 point

I really don’t care about the performance or fuel economy when a vehicle’s limitations make a trip across the state and back a two day affair. I’m sure at some point EV’s will have sufficient range and charging speed to make them mainstream vehicles but they aren’t close yet. Until that happens EV’s are just expensive, limited purpose transportation.1 point
