I think GM already demonstrated that midsize truck wouldn't steal fullsize sales. That's what gave Ford to confidence to go forward with fast track process to bring T6 Ranger to the US. At the end of the day, I think having Ranger being absent from the market for a few years was a positive. It cycled out/weened the bargain buyers out of the old Ranger market and gave Ford essentially a clean slate to price the new truck properly to reflect demand and competition.3 points

Retail gains were led by Santa Fe (up 26%), Tucson (up 16%), and Kona (up 27%), while Palisade sold 4,346 retail units, a 26% increase compared with last month, September 2019. In total, retail SUV sales finished at 28,547 units, the best ever October total, representing a 60% mix of retail volume compared with 50% mix in October 2018. This was also the fourth consecutive month exceeding 60% SUV retail mix as Hyundai becomes in closer alignment with the industry. https://www.hyundainews.com/en-us/releases/2902 The Palisade is doing very well-and I understand the Kia Telluride is even selling better than the Hyundai. Bottom line-unless you need a REAL BOF SUV-these things will continue to sell well as it seems they found the consumer's "sweet spot".1 point

Look at Aviator go! Over 1,500 in October. Explorer inventory looks to be back in shape. Not growth numbers, but it's a more expensive vehicle with fewer incentivizing so it's doing better that I feared. Ranger outsold Colorado, although not the GM pair combined, but it is getting close.1 point

The Aviator has a really cool wiper nozzle setup - the entire blade is the nozzle. Explorer didn't get it, though. My mom picked up her '20 ST last night and it has the regular nozzles under the hood.1 point

The alternative is that you get zero tax dollars because the jobs go elsewhere. Detroit will still make millions off the income tax the workers will pay at the plants/train station. Problem with Detroit is that the millage rate for property taxes is insane at $88/$1000 for non-homestead. No company without a massive tax break would ever locate there. They'll discount the property tax and then make the tax on the income of employees that work there, plus you give preferential treatment to people that live in the city getting more income tax. (2.4% vs 1.2%) The problem is that the tax system in Michigan is broken, state has decimated revenue sharing over the past 25 years, voters capped increase in taxable value in 1994 (Prop A) and state has allowed for zero in ways of new taxes to be collected so the issue just compounds over the years. You have a massively bloated governmental structure and massive liabilities that were promised on terms that never made any sense; when you make tens of thousands more in your pension than your base salary ever was it is bound to end in failure. It's not just Detroit that is in bad shape, Allen Park, Warren, Mt Clements, Trenton, Flat Rock, Taylor, Romulus, Clawson, Royal Oak Twp, Harper Woods, and don't even look at Macomb County, the next recession is going to be brutal and I suspect you will see City's and School districts forces to merge/close.1 point

Combined Ranger/F series YTD - 800K, up 50K over last year's F series only. That's 50K incremental volume for Ranger. So much for Ranger stealing too many F series sales.1 point

I'd love to see something with some decent sound insulation.1 point

Thats because certain municipalities *cough* Detroit *cough* are handing out buckets of money (that they don't have, btw) at the expense of first responders and future debt payments.1 point

I got some intel last night that we're definitely seeing the overall general shape here. We already knew, but 2 and 4 doors are for sure. The front fascia will be different (obviously), but the source saw it a few months ago, when things were still in design and saw different options. I pried for more info, but wasn't able to get much more.1 point

Yeah, your low quality trolling is also disappointing.1 point

Looking at the parts list and the upgrades, did they really restore anything other than the VIN tag? HRG1 point

Pretty sure I can. Let's stop discussing each other and stick to discussing the topic at hand.1 point

Thats not as simple as you would think. There's a lot inside the building that would need to change to accommodate a taller vehicle.1 point

Yah think it would have been smarter to move the Explorer/Aviator to Flat Rock instead of Chicago, considering the issues there?1 point

It's also quite possible the Larger BEVs are also going to Mexico instead of FRAP, especially since they are based on the Mach E architecture. Not something they will disclose now obviously and they won't have to for awhile. Oakville is also possible. But I think the US has either lost these products to Canada or Mexico, or they are simply beyond the 4-Year contract which would mean the products are delayed (hopefully not). It's also possible the product plans have changed in relation to the Rivian investment, at least on Lincoln's side.1 point

From what I know... - This grille seems to indicate that the C-Clamp headlight design may have won out. Last I heard they were back to the perfectly round lamps bookending a similar grille treatment. Both were in play still. - The shape is 95% what we'll see in the spring, minus the obvious modifications. - Really, really, REALLY excited for everyone to see the interior.1 point

I'd say the taillights are direct pull off the production version-the grill will be similar but with Round head lights at the ends-I'm thinking maybe the grill extends into the center of the lights? The overall shape should be almost identical (outside of the modifications for racing)-the original Raptor Baja 1000 was very similar to the production model.1 point

I made that point earlier, perhaps in another thread. There's already too many brands worldwide as it is. This would be a good opportunity to phase a few out.1 point
