  1. It won’t ruin anything. It’s not replacing the current mustang. People said Porsche would die if they built SUVs and sedans. They were completely wrong.

  2. It will be RWD, with optional AWD. Period. Just like all the Tesla models. There will be a few trims with very limited options. It probably has the least complexity of any Ford in recent years I’ve seen. There will be a base and GT variant. Just like the Mustang. And yes, it will be called Mustang Mach-E. But just like the F-Series Super Duty, expect Ford to basically call it the Mach-E in the same way Ford calls the F-Series Super Duty just the Super Duty. The connection will be there again as part of the Mustang family.

  3. So far with just a shorter intake manifold and ECU retune it makes 550 HP. Over 600 Hp is thought possible with a cam change. Same engineer designed the Hurricane/Boss and the Coyote.

  4. People just don’t like change. I wasn’t a fan of calling it a Mustang at first, but I’ve embraced it and think it’s a good idea, as long as they keep the MustangMustang around-I just wonder what else they are going to do with the Mustang subbrand.

  6. But then you lose the brand equity associated with icons like Mustang and F150.

  7. I couldn’t get past the first sentence. You criticized me for bad grammar but started your rant with a lower case “y.” However, keep in mind $14.65....that’s less than minimum wage in some places in this country. Take the damn buyout and get out so we can show you what a “union” is about.

  8. So this is a derivative of the OHC 6.2L? Not related to the 7.3L Super Duty engine? Links and specifics please!

  10. Here’s what you’ll don’t understand...the hourly rate you sat at for two contracts was an obscene amount compared to the average outside of your bubble. $27 or more in 1999-2006 would be equal to what in 2019? I seriously want to see if you can give me an accurate answer before I tell you.

  11. Correct, it looks like Ford just chose the easy option for now and probably hope that the situation will sort itself out in a few years, depending on buyers support an evolution of the current Mustang seems like the wisest move...

  12. Ford may really just be buying themselves time with FRAP and future Mustang production until they see what their future production needs are with utilization at other plants, etc. As discussed many times, FRAP has serious production constraints and would require a major overhaul in order to produce many of the vehicles the market is demanding and planned for the future. And a decision to finally overhaul FRAP would likely require closing the plant for an extended time, forcing them to move Mustang to another facility. Should Ford move Mustang production it would have to be to another U.S. plant to avoid the outrage and bad press that would ensue otherwise. Just a few thoughts.

  13. IMO, Ford chickened out on closing down FRAP and intsead offered the UAW the promise of a next gen Mustang there. Maybe the thought of the Union going on strake over FRAP closure was too great of a loss but in my mind, they really should make FRAP the survivor car plant and just do the CD6 cars as originally planned and put the mid sized BEVs over in Oakville in three years time. That would make more sense.

  14. Theres still several preproduction phases that have to be done before Job 1, and that's definitely going to slow things down for a bit. It doesn't hurt to be prepared, especially given the fiasco in Chicago.

  16. Neither do I, and I will also be taking my leave once we finally get this ratified. I can sit here and poke holes in the contract all day, but at the end I know it's not gonna get much better then what it is. I NEED it to pass now not in 4 more weeks so they can reword a few things so it makes it sound like you got something. The whole retiree thing was lost cause since the early 90's and has withered away since, you can not depend on it. I wish they had known better then as I do now. I'm not even eligible for retirement I'm going with STEP. It's not worth another 4 years, I'm out while I'm young enough to do something. I feel I have better chances investing in bitcoin then relying on a pension that may or may not be there when I'm of age. I feel bad for the retiree's, but I'm not gonna give up my exit for their raise. They left me a crooked union, those 10 convicted IUAW can pay for their raise. Dennis can invite them over to the cabin to see their bonus. Being 3rd generation watching my grandparents and parents retire with decent plans that got hacked away over the past, I know I have to do more then Ford and the UAW can offer me. And as far as my fellow brothers and sisters, most don't even have a pension anymore. They won't get the benefits the retirees have now. Should they fight for more for them? when there's only so much on the table who is priority? Maybe if we didn't have to fight for temps and 5 tiers there would be more on the table for retirees. I have a solution though, we hold all convicted IUAW accountable for every dime embezzled and reward it to the retirees. I'm more willing to fight for that, then to vote this contract down or even think about striking over it. Bottom line is we pay for union representation and they aren't earning their pay as a matter of fact they are stealing it from us. They've been caught and convicted and still more falling yet we gave them the right to bargain for our contract and this is what we got. If you are not happy FIRE THE DAMN UNION. I'm not sticking around to pay for their parties anymore.

  17. How true dark, da Trumpster won`t be involved at all. Besides he`s busy makin things great again.... Dol and the Labor/Education committee will be more than glad to take a hand off from the FBI and IRS to take the drivers seat. I think the Teamsters come out of their 30 year oversight term next year. Wonder how many of the negotiating team members will be plugged into the IUAW vacancies? Then all the new appointments from those plug ins? The mad scramble is already started with the comparing Dittes to Gamble. I`m sure there will be the same "grooming" for positions going on as there always has been.

  18. not our local, they only fight to get your job back if you harassed someone. Many have been fired from CAP because of awols. Legacy got a raise I won't miss $250 as much as I miss COLA The 10k loss in buyout sucks awols they're still not as strict as other non union factories I say 3 with in 1 yr and fired but I've only had 3 in 24 years from family passing. Buy our pensions, I can hustle milk money when I'm 65 Cameras on your TV's phones cars and even your damn doorbells and you're scared of a camera at your work station? major gain is you still have work for the next 4 years, you got a contract before the sinking ship IUAW is taken over by the Trump administration. Imagine what you would get then. The opportunity to get back any concessions we lost during the bail out era was lost in 2015, we backed the union and they screwed us. GM went on a 40 day strike and this is the pattern they won. No this isn't a great contract but you can't really expect more with a broken IUAW. You want a better contract, find a better union.

  19. Mach E will sell in tiny numbers here in the UK and, I suspect, the rest of Europe. Fiesta, Focus and Kuga are the only decent sellers (apart from Transit, of course) in the UK. Unfortunately, UK buyers are badge snobs and will gravitate to BMW and Audi if they're spending "premium" money. You can sprinkle some Mustang magic on Mach E but that won't swing many buyers here.

  20. It's also a calculus on plant investment. VW is more than happy to build MEB for Ford because they invested so much in it. Ford was probably on the verge of committing to building Model E derivatives in Europe (which will involve heavy investments in at least one of the 4 plants in Europe). With the MEB, Ford gets to kick the can down the road on huge capital investment required to build EV in Europe, and can concentrate on getting it right in North America.

  22. In the long term, yes sir. Manufacturers of BEV pickup trucks will have to ensure they are profitable products over their lifecycle. This is where Tesla has an advantage over everyone else. Tesla is the only major automaker currently that has demonstrated the ability to mass produce BEV profitably.

  23. Video camera`s on the work site or operations? Nothing new. Every Ford plant with any renovations within the last few years has camera`s everywhere. CAP has them everywhere on the floor and outside in every lot Ford owns or uses. Come on this is Chicago. KCAP, LAP & KTP has the same through out there sealer, enamel, prime and all repair area`s. We did have a member trying to put a camera on the roof to see what was going on up there but the drama was discontinued prior to broadcasting the saga.... (but no one saw all the spare tires being borrowed from under the pick ups or a Harley being borrowed?) (this is Chicago )

  26. Here is the rub with this-what it boils down to is there more options out there for People to buy a vehicle and "less money to do so". Vehicles are expensive-a well Equipped Mustang GT is $40K+, back about 13 years ago it topped out at around 30K-yeah certain things weren't as nice but it was much cheaper. So using that price as a guideline-lets use the upcoming Bronco as our example-You can get a vehicle that can drive in all weather, most likely will be a convertible in shape or at least have a large opening in the roof and be able to fit four people plus cargo in it. Its a far more practical vehicle and LOTS of people are interested in it. It boils down that it can be a fun vehicle, more profitable then a Mustang (costs spread over Ranger, then power trains shared with the F-150/Explorer/Aviator) and more practical. The Mach E is going to be the 4 door Mustang all but in name-then again it might actually be a Mustang. The talk about FRAP closing is concerning on multiple levels, with the biggest one being what would happen to the Mustang? Ford would be seriously shooting themselves in the foot with that. images (1).jfif

  28. Ugh. Ford. Look at that swing gate. You can't take the roof off, there are tires in the way.
