  2. You will and it will make sense, trust me The main thing people are objecting to is the horse emblem being used..... When people realize that it embodies a lot of what the Mustang stands for in terms of performance handling/driving and acceleration, I'm sure people will get it. There will always be those who resist change and want Mustang to be a museum piece stuck in the past and that is good too but the Mach E allows Ford to do something new. They're doing both at the same time without intent of one replacing the other, the idea here is to actually grow combined sales.

  5. Funny and supposedly true story. Air traffic control requires communication in English. A Lufthansa pilot approaching Berlin asked for landing clearance in German. ATC reminds him to speak English. He says why does a German pilot on a German airplane landing in Germany have to speak English? An unidentified but obviously British pilot says “Because you lost the bloody war!”.

  7. As far as confusion for the Bronco and its little brother are concerned, neither are out yet so I can see why people would be confused when talking about them... Moral of the story, people will complain about anything.

  8. What do you want proof of?I am saying I worked there and that was the procedure for the vote on the National Contract.I no longer work there and things might have changed. That was the way it was done.A union rep walking around the plant with a plastic paint bucket that, you drop a slip of paper into. Now where I currently work, you show up at the union hall and drop your slip into a locked, metal box.All I want is my vote counted fairly.I pay my dues,I get a vote.I never said that I saw the votes counted and changed.I did not.I am saying that the procedure for the vote should be more secure, especially at the largest local.A local that has enough votes to decide the outcome for the entire membership.Lax rules present an opportunity that may,,,,MAY,,,,,lead to corruption.Want proof of corruption in the union?Read the newspaper.I dont care what you believe or accept as proof.I WAS THERE!

  10. True, and Chrome side mirrors are also included, BUT to get the suede headliner, leather top dash and upper door panels means we would have t accept the "theme" and we actually disliked all 3 themes. Rather get an all black interior without the upgraded materials. I wish Lincoln offered the black label in other interior colors.

  11. To the people so opposed to it using the Mustang moniker will you really find yourself thinking about this if you’re driving a Mustang? I mean, why care about something so silly? Just like when the Cayenne came out and people were up in arms over it. The 911 drove no different because of its existence.

  16. Let's stop this "Mustang is going die" doom and gloom. Even if Hackett were that stupid somehow (I doubt it), Bill Ford would veto that decision. It's not going anywhere.

  17. It won’t ruin anything. It’s not replacing the current mustang. People said Porsche would die if they built SUVs and sedans. They were completely wrong.

  18. I believe ya Fatso, Dark270 is just another troll It's no secret the UAW has padded votes since the 1980's prob even before then. Just that back then snitches got stitches today they get participation trophies. I mean look at our local at CAP, how these people got elected in a fair election is impossible to imagine. 2 shouldn't even have jobs if zero tolerance was actually a thing. But as you see CAP doesn't vote, they fabricate the numbers. Our election is currently under investigation due to the racial attacks from our current bargaining committee against their opponents during the election and their defaming propaganda. It's going to get real interesting at CAP after this contract ratifies.

  21. I’m not a fan of sub brands in general because they make for needlessly long names, ie Land Rover Range Rover velar. Sub brands based off of existing vehicles also cause confusion. You see it in any of the threads here about bronco. People have to say things like “bronco bronco” to make sure everyone else knows you are talking about the real bronco vs the baby bronco. would the name stop me from buying it? No. I just like playing devils advocate while we are waiting for the reveal.

  26. I have not personally experienced British usage, but it is "mock" in American usage, the only pronunciation I have ever heard here. I did click on the audio on the Dictionary.com link I put up, and I heard mock. A few more links for you from U.S dictionaries. And ending with the Cambridge dictionary, which settles our disagreement. It is, indeed, pronounced "mock" in American usage, but "mack" in British usage, so we are both right. Three more American dictionaries: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mach https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us/dictionary/english/mach https://www.thefreedictionary.com/Mach Now, Cambridge dictionary: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/mach

  27. There's a big difference though. A huge difference. Porsche did not expand the 911 into a sub-brand by calling the new vehicles: Porsche 911 Cayenne, Porsche 911 Macan, and Porsche 911 Panamera. There was not any association with the 911 or Boxster/Cayman or any other existing vehicles in their lineup to the new SUVs and sedans. They used similar styling and may have even marketed 911 inspiration but it was not considered and expansion of the 911 at all. The Panamera looks like a 4 door 911 sedan in some ways, depending on some angles you view it, but was not intended to be the '4-door 911' type of vehicle. Only the soul of 911 incorporated into the new vehicles but they were given different names without the 911 attached at all. Ford wants to use Mustang's inspiration and use the running horse logo, both which are okay with me as I've come to accept the usage of horse logo, but to attach the Mustang name to it is not going to sit right with the purists. Look at the uproar when it was originally announced as Mach 1. I'm sure you remember the uproar in the 80s when Mustang was basically going to be turned into what ended up as Probe. That was before Internet and social media, mind you, so imagine the bigger uproar if announced as Mustang Mach-E. Even if the regular Mustang will still be long hood/short deck, 2-door rear drive pony car, the name should not be attached to the 4-door electric powered vehicle that looks front drive. Someone suggested Probe name which is genius I think. However I understand Mach E as a dig at Tesla's desire to have Model E. Someone has said the Mustang name will be attached to it but referred to as Mach E just as much as the F-Series Super Duty is referred to as Super Duty. This I object as Mach E should be good enough name as is. I seen the recent spy photos of it with minimal camo covering and I love it! Even with horse logo, it's okay. Only the 'Mustang' name is what I object to it if as part of it. But it's a week from today for the reveal and announcement so we'll see what all happens. That's how I always pronounced it. I didn't know that but I still think people will continue to say the Mock. I'm guessing the pronunciation of this word won't be settled like the tomato and tomahto. lol

  28. maybe under a different name if Ford objects to them selling it as Honda e. Ford Edge couldn't be sold in Australia because Toyota had Corolla Edge trademarked and would not relinquish it even though not used in recent times.

  30. Detroit Lions 27 Chicago Bears 23 I like that math! Wanna know how crappy your Ford pension is?Figure you get $53 a month for every year worked. 30 years times $53 a month = $1600 a month approx.= $19,200 a year.Let me emphasize that is after showing up for 30 years, reliably in a factory, manufacturing, environment. The retirees having not received am increase in their LIB ,have been paying for the last 3 contracts.Just give me my signing bonus,,,,,PLEASE and if you dont like the job, take $60,000 of "free money" and find another job or stay home.Unless you are trades of course and then,,,,,want some O.T.?

  31. Oh PLEASE,,,,,,,,,,I might as well sign my name at this point.Oakman blvd.turns into Miller Road south of Michigan Avenue [yeah, there`s the the Pantheon go-go club}and I dunno,I think it was Gate 5 where the Miller Road overpass and also an entrance to the freakin Rouge {welcome to HELL} was.Uh,,,,,what else do ya want? Now in all fairness {cuz I liked my mitty-man} of course I did not witness any tampering HOWEVER the problem is that the process was totally unsecure.Local 600 has the most members. That alone is what makes Local 600 the most powerful local. Not because Local 600 is the most philosophically, convicted, dedicated,to unionism,.In my opinion where I work now ,as far as unionism goes,,,well makes my miserable existence at Ford at least bearable.Politics, greed and corruption is involved in everything where a person can make an easy dollar bill.Unless Rory changes the existing structure of the rules, making it harder to get away with taking kick-backs from the company, the scandals will keep reappearing only with different names involved.

  32. Yes, 'Hurricane/Boss' refers to the 6.2L, the 7.3L is a completely different engine platform. That tends to call this claim into question. That having been said, I think the 6.2L actually has a greater performance potential that the 7.3L does. Pretty clear the 7.3L design is optimized for commercial truck, and it appears the 7.3L's valvetrain may behave poorly over 5000 r.p.m.'s. Nonetheless, there certainly is potential for increased performance and I am sure there will be a market for a 7.3L 'crate' engine.

  35. It will be RWD, with optional AWD. Period. Just like all the Tesla models. There will be a few trims with very limited options. It probably has the least complexity of any Ford in recent years I’ve seen. There will be a base and GT variant. Just like the Mustang. And yes, it will be called Mustang Mach-E. But just like the F-Series Super Duty, expect Ford to basically call it the Mach-E in the same way Ford calls the F-Series Super Duty just the Super Duty. The connection will be there again as part of the Mustang family.

  36. The how it happens is "mass production" At least 1% of a great running line will have small issues. On a new launch with new production machinery it is closer to 10% will have issues after OKTB. I understand it may be a lot of money, but in the grand scheme, it is not a cash cow for Ford. Yes, they will make 5K-15K per unit, but the cost of R&D and the new plant overhaul are well over a Billion. They have to make that up, while keeping the customer happy and having a good margin. There is a delicate balance, major issues with quality and workers are eating into the balance sheet. Each line worker has a certain number of repetitious jobs per hour they need to complete. Start getting behind and they don't get the extra 10 seconds to make sure the panel is perfect. I encourage you to take a trip and visit the rouge assembly plant if they still offer tours. You can literally walk the line above the workers building F-150s. Humans are fallible, machines loose calibration or wear out. It is not a perfect process. As twintornado said earlier, the warranty is there to protect you, and the Aviator warranty is a good one.

  37. These are interesting vehicles - I've sat next to a Palisade at a traffic light, and see quite a few Tellurides around, so they seem to have a good take rate in my area. What surprised me is that these are not as large as I expected them to be - that's not a criticism, just an observation. I think Kia/Hyundia have done a good job with the styling of these vehicles in the sense that they present themselves very well in the metal. The Hyundai isn't very attractive, the Kia is, but both present well.

  38. My brother and sister have both gone Hyundai. Our local Hyundai dealer is great and has a luxury car level of service (whereas I drive twenty minutes away to go to a different Ford store as the local mega-low-mart Ford is awful). Both of them have new SantaFes - they’re great vehicles and compare favorably with my Edge. Neither have had the quality issues I’ve had with the Edge. The Palisade seems like a logical replacement for our Flex. Ford doesn’t really have a competitor - I suppose the Explorer is supposed to be. I’m not likely to go Hyundai (I’m hoping the Bronco replaces our Flex), but I can see why people do.

  43. E1 name is what we came up with to parallel C2 and CD6. Ford's official name for this platform is Model E. Ford has 6 known EV programs right now. 1. Model E: Ford has been very clear in its communication with Wall Street that Model E architecture will underpin a whole family of mid to large size unibody EVs, not just MACH E. 2. VW MEB: Ford is using VW's MEB EV platform for smaller compact and subcompact EVs which most likely will only be sold in Europe. 3. Ford is working on F-150 EV which persumbly will also spawn other body on frame EVs . 4. There is a program ongoing to adapt the existing Transit/Transit Custom platform for EV use, although it is probably a transitional program. Next gen Transit is due by 2022 or 2023 so it will probably have EV option fully baked in. 5. Rivian platform: not much is known about what Ford plans to do with this platform. It is very similar in concept to both Model E and MEB so there is probably some synergy to be had if Ford basically herds Rivian into E2 (or vice versa). 6. Zotye Ford is working in China on low cost BEV, based on Zotye technology, primarily for the Chinese market. Although this project is probably on very shaky ground as Zotye is on the brink of bankruptcy.
