  1. I'm more relieved by the elimination of aging models than the elimination of cars. I'm not happy the Fusion is going away, but I strongly believed all of the others needed to go, especially because the Focus has always been a troublesome product for the US for many reasons. I like the idea of the Fusion being replaced by what the Mondeo is getting, a low-slung stylish crossover (essentially a better looking wagon). But it looks like we aren't getting that. And anybody thinking Ford will have to go back to Focus hasn't seen what is coming yet.

  2. And this is really good?. We all know that Ford (and GM) are losing market share since they stop selling small cars. And the new Ford products (Explorer, Aviator) are very good on paper, but a disaster on execution. We know about the serious quality problems of those models. Yesterday, I read some informations that Lincoln is repurchasing many Aviators with serious defects. Ford needs to rethink its plan and try to execute it the best way . The Explorer/Aviator fiasco is unforgivable. Imagine the same disastrous launch with the Mustang Mach E... or the Bronco. All the work lost.

  3. Yes, the crossover craze will probably be more profitable but not offering a sedan, or low cost "vehicle", doesn't introduce someone to the brand that will later buy something bigger and profitable. Let's see how this plays out next few years. Last time I remember a purge like this was, I think 96-97-98, something like Mark8, Aerostar, Tbird, Cougar, Probe, Aspire, if I remember correctly.

  4. Okay well I'd never post something like this on a different car forum, but knowing that the average age of a Lincoln owner is the highest of all brands, then the chance that someone wears or will most likely need, or will be buying hearing aids (politically correct name - mumble inhibitors) is probably high. In 2013, the average age of a Lincoln buyer was 61 yrs old... and they nailed me - I'll turn 61 in a few months. Ouch. Oh well. Not calling myself deafsoundguy for nothing.... years of sonic punishment in the professional sound industry and loud tools has taken a toll. So I've been wearing hearing aids for over 20 years, and at 60 I need them a lot worse than I did 20 years ago. At a certain point, conversations in cars is not good, and that's a common bad environment for anyone with a listening/intelligibility issue. Road noise is the killer for wiping out important sibilant things our ears need for understanding a complete sentence. All you need sometimes is to miss one consonant in a sentence and it may wipe out the entire meaning of what the person said - was it bat, vat, or cat? Anyway, anyone that's getting hard of hearing knows exactly what I'm talking about... it sucks. In ANY car I've ever owned, conversation has been hard for me between anyone in the car speaking. I've had the luxury of owning a bunch of cars, didn't really matter, they all have been bad, with the Acura MDX being one of the worst for road noise for a "luxury" car. So last night I got to drive our new BL Nautilus! I never got to test drive it, my wife did. So I'd never driven a Lincoln before and it was a 90 mile round trip at all speeds down to see some family. I had my daughter next to me and 3 other family members in the backseat all of whom do not speak loud or with too much diction. My daughter has a soft voice and is always hard for me to hear her. I started down the road to go pick up my daughter and the car didn't seem that much quieter than our FPace at first. I knew it was, but it was deceiving. I noticed right away when I picked her up that I could hear her way better in the Lincoln. We got to Silverton where the others were. We picked them up and as we drove 12 miles to the restaurant we were going to, and for the first time EVER I had no problems hearing anyone in the car and they were behind me where normally I would be just lost on conversation. It was very impressive of how much the interior environment of the Nautilus was deadened to help quiet the car. It made a huge difference for me, and the first time I've ever really been able to keep up with all conversation going on, on the road doing 55mph down the road. This has been a super great benefit to deciding to buy the Lincoln, a benefit that I never even thought about. Right now, I am very impressed with the car. While the Fpace wins the sexy beast award and ability to slam a car in a corner, the Nautilus wins every other way possible, too many to list. The interior of our BL is so much better than the pictures, as anyone who owns one will probably agree. Our poor FPace is now sitting on the dealers lot for sale...it was a good run, but really enjoying the opulence of the BL. ? I would imagine that all other newer Lincolns would probably be as quiet or even quieter than the Nautilus. So hope this helps someone who needs or is deciding to make the splurge for some hearing devices and/or considering a new Lincoln!!! - DSG

  5. I was Googling images of futures Mustangs earlier this week (to take my mind of the other new Mustang that I'm not so keen on ) I came across this image from Carscoops. It was with some of the official renderings of Mach E. There's definitely Mach E influence here although it's clearly a much "softer" design that S550. I actually really like this and it'd make a fine S550/S650 EV. And give it a "normal" grille for the Ecoboost and GT versions. There's no signature on the rendering, and I've not been able to find it anywhere else......but I'd love to know if this is an official Ford render, or just one created by a talented fan. Either way, if this is the direction Mustang is going in, I'll be pleased.

  6. It seems long but it's actually a fairly standard lifecycle at Ford/Lincoln (8 Years with an MCA in the middle). I think the big issue is that the 2019 MCA did not update the interior to the new design, not to mention MKX (2016) got the design right before Lincoln went in a new direction (2017) which is the reason it feels so outdated after only 3 model years. If it's any help, a 2023MY product will usually be out in CY (Calendar Year) 2022. Hopefully sooner rather that later. All I know so far is that both are FWD with the Edge getting a Hybrid. I'm sure Nautilus will as well (probably PHEV), but no information yet to confirm. The 2020 Escape head of exterior design is actually leading the Edge design. At the Spring Escape reveal, he told me they had just begun their work on it.

  7. Shouldn't this be in the Lincoln Discussion forum? ? I never understood street racing when there are tracks for racing. Why put other peoples lives at risk when its not necessary?

  8. Yep, I think it's the one thing lacking from S550. This official rendering (one that didn't make the cut as S550) does it really well. It doesn't have to be a fake vent, in fact it'd be much better simply as the "hockey stick" pressing, just as the '65 did it originally Actually, this rendering is one of my favourites and I'd love that to become S650 or a heavily facelifted S550

  9. I want the new Mustang with the "C" shaped false scoop at the rear of the doors, a feature that identifies the Mustang since its inception.

  10. Have you actually purchased a new Mustang in the last 20 years?

  11. Ford also offers a pursuit rated hybrid Explorer which has gone down big with some PDs.

  12. Just wait until the two all-electric Lincolns arrive in the next 2-3 years. With today's Lincolns all that is left is tire and engine sounds, both much reduced. With the BEVs the engine noise will be gone as well.

  14. Manufacturing, distribution and service doesn’t change. Tesla’s model works great for a startup at low volume but it doesn’t scale. Economies of scale and 100 years experience is a big advantage for volume manufacturing.

  15. Their review has more inconsistencies than the GTs claimed throttle response: 27 photos and all of them are the same regular GT, not a Black Label GT as tested and listed in their chart; the EPA ratings are incorrect; they fail to detail what tests if any were conducted by starting out with a fully charged battery; they don't state that this is still a pre or early production unit or what driving modes were used.

  21. Last update for a while,,,,,, It's getting a new short block, we get to keep the loaner we've been provided. Honestly, I'm pretty impressed with this dealer, since we did not make the purchase from them. I know they "should" step-up like this, but I'm happy they are, no questions asked. HRG

  22. It's certainly a risk, and it remains to be seen whether it pays off or not. The reality is, it being named A Mustang has brought it a lot more attention than it otherwise would've gotten - both positive and negative. So in that respect, the Mustang name has already done its job. It's been argued Mustang styling alone could've worked.....maybe.........but remember, the 2013 Malibu had "Corvette-inspired" styling (all because it had 4 taillights), and that certainly didn't help. The name "Mustang" obviously conjures images of a 2 door coupe/convertible, because that's what it's always been. But if you look aside from strictly the vehicle form itself, "Mustang" represents performance, excitement, and enjoyment.....that thrill of stomping the gas and going, letting it gallop, and putting a smile on your face when you drive it. And I have no doubt the Mach E will gallop and do just that.
