  1. "Until these people are wiped from the earth we are destined to be grossed out." No pun intended I'm sure.

  2. We're getting a little more information on the upcoming Rivian-derived Ford product, most likely one of the Lincoln electric SUVs that has been mentioned. Looks like it will be a big one, likely a 3-row. Rivian says they will begin production of their own pickup in December this year and their SUV three months later. They have not said anything specific about the Lincoln product, including when its production will begin (though looks like it could be as early as next year), noting that such information is for Ford to announce, but this got my attention: ------------------- "Ford is designing its own so-called 'top hat'—an EV-specific term for the vehicle bodies that use the skateboard architecture—for its high-end electric SUV, but since it will ride on the common architecture, features such as the company's unique infotainment system must be designed to run on Rivian's electrical systems. Scaringe would not say when Ford production begins, but design and engineering are locked in and ready to roll. 'It's a very different product from our own SUV, but it's still in the SUV space,' Scaringe says. While Rivian is going after the adventure market, Ford will pursue luxury buyers, which leads us to deduce it will be sold as a Lincoln. Scaringe would not confirm this supposition, as it's Ford's announcement to make, he said. He did say the Ford SUV is 'an impressive product, to say the least.' 4. What?!?!? If he did that, he would no longer have any reason to come here and bitch endlessly about Ford. Guess the plans to buy a Toyota fell through?? <ahem>

  5. Being super busy lately, I just read through all of the posts from the last 2 weeks on the Escape site regarding this issue. I also received Fords letter on January 17, one day after I made an appointment to take the car in. The earliest I could be scheduled for is this coming Thursday, January 30. Seems the service departments at all dealerships are swamped. The letter specifically talks about the 1.5L EcoBoost. Says nothing about the 2.0L. Advises me to expect about 4 hours total (and I'm having "The Works" as well), so am bringing a new novel to read. I'll advise after Thursday. P.S. Ford's name is being dragged through the mud, again. Everyone I've told about this plans to run as far away from Ford as possible. Just in case, good thing GM is now offering me extra $ through my GM Card, ahem.

  6. Ford should allow the last setting to stay so we dont have to keep hitting the 3 buttons everytime. It should be full with taking up 2/3s of the top and then the radar sensors taking up the bottom 1/3.

  7. It’s hard to judge the mood of the entire two million owners. While some owners have been really let down, the later vehicles seem to be holding up better.

  8. Gov Math $2500(5KW) + (8*417)=5836 + half of 417 for the half KW $206 = $6042 I think the extra $417 is a typo. If you do the $2500 for the first 5 then 8 X 417 for the next 8 and however they come up with the other number, they must have an exact # of KW.

  9. Watched this this morning. Hadn't heard of his reviews before. Came over here to see if anyone had noticed it yet. I just felt sad watching it. The chassis sounds and looks great. I hope Ford listens to it. Hope a early refresh fixes the issues quick. Just start over on the IP.

  10. Is that an excuse though? I get what you're saying about it being a stopgap, 100%, but if you release a "new" vehicle that is already out of date, or rushed, for whatever reason, well at the end of the day your vehicle will still lag the competition. It would be nice if he explained the situation, but it technically is truthful and fair, no?

  11. Thanks for sharing this video Anthony! Savage Geese seems very knowledgeable about automobiles and the automotive industry. Much more than typical amateur reviewers posting videos on YouTube. This review of 2020 Explorer is professional quality.

  12. Such a key point-and how often have you ever heard a reviewer bring that up. I think that is a huge factor-but I'm afraid Ford -as well as GM and "Mopar" will all be loosing that edge. How many young buyers today have grown up in households that have had nothing but Toyotas, Hondas etc. Me? I'm 76 and I recall a story of how my grandfather was so pissed at his Model T he made a sweeping motion with his hand in frustration that he damaged the radiator! Brand loyalty is built over time. I've always said, you could paint a pile of dog shit Cat yellow-or Deere green- or Ford blue -and guys would stand around and say.."isn't that the nicest pile of dog shit you have ever seen?" (pick your color?)

  13. I always thought it would be $6,500 based on the formula. Not sure how they came up with $6,042... even leaving out the first $417 wouold still be higher at $6,086.

  15. Thx! Sounds like these guys are well on their way to making this a reality beyond trucks-and he clearly stated a lot of the features that make it a good truck engine, also translate well to the high performance PV.

  16. I got to attend a Focus group that I'm pretty sure was for Rivian a couple of weeks ago. They never said for sure but they only showed one video and it was about Rivian. It was for both Trucks and SUV owners but I only got Truck questions. We saw exterior paint samples and pictures of the interior trim samples and packages then answered about 50 questions - most of which was choosing between 6 different BEV pickup configurations from multiple mfrs including Rivian, Ford, Land Rover and a couple of others. Nothing Rivian specific - just different combinations of bed sizes, battery range, cost, drivetrains (number of motors, 2wd vs 4wd) and you had to pick one. Then some questions about how much we would pay for certain features. Only 3 of our group of 16 were asked to stay for a followup session - I assume they got to see the SUV since most of the ones who were dismissed were pickup owners. It was pretty cool and they paid $150 for 1 hour of work. Was hoping to see an actual vehicle though.

  17. I've spent a lifetime in manufacturing & engineering, I understand that "stuff" happens. In retrospect, although I've whined about the experience, I'm not sure how Ford and this dealership could have handled this much better. Once they knew that they needed to keep the vehicle for the 5-hour test, a loaner was offered and kept for the extent of the repair. As far as oil changes, I tend to be the first in line at their Quick Lube facility on Saturday mornings, and am always out within an hour. Usually with a free car wash too, if it needs it. Regarding your Charlotte metropolitan area, it's rough population of 2.7 mil pales to my Chicagoland area, currently at 9.5 mil, or even Atlanta with 6.5 mil. The dealer I used is 6 miles (10 minutes) away, 1 of 3 within that 6 mile radius. Sorry, can't relate to the up-side down status of your loan. My vehicles are fully paid off within 2-3 months of purchase, after taking advantage of the financing incentives offered at time of purchase. Cash is king in my world. Once again, keep an eye on the coolant level, get the FSA done, and hopefully enjoy your Fusion for years to come. HRG

  18. I'm not sure what you're so worked up about. If the re-programming helps eliminate even 25% of the engine failures, Ford will save hundreds of thousands of dollars, and minimized inconvenience to a lot of Fusion/Escape owners. My advice to you is, occasionally check the coolant level in the overflow tank, and if it stays full, you don't have a problem, and no need to go thru the 5-hour test. However, if all of a sudden the level drops considerably, take it in and get the leak-down test done. Mine suffered no driveablity problems, and threw no codes, before the low coolant level was discovered. You've mentioned your dealer is far away. Isn't there one closer that you could go to? The dealer who provided the excellent service on my Escape is not the one I purchased it from. Or, trade it in for the Toyota you've talked about. HRG
