  1. Now your just gate keeping-Look at Jeeps line up and some of the products they offer-they aren't as capable as the Wrangler...the BrS will actually be able to handle some offroading much better then say a Jeep Renegade and will be equal to//better then other unibody FWD products on the market Oh can we call the Bronco Sport the BrS and not BS....BS is short for bullshit.

  2. I’d say half the problem is people don’t understand what this vehicle is competing with. You had mentioned the Jeep Compass and Subaru cross trek. Another one you hear all the time is the Jeep renegade. Since the BS is sharing a platform with the escape, I’d assume it will be larger than any of those and it’s more likely that it’s a Jeep cherokee competitor. then there is price. You are right, we have no idea what the price is. But there’s been speculation that it will sell at a premium over the escape for a while now. Here’s the starting prices of its competitors: escape - $24,885 cherokee - $25,934 Rav4 - $25,950 crv - $25,050 Cx5 - $25,190 I believe it needs to start around this range to be competitive. I also think naming it Bronco is part of the problem too. Now it has to live up to the bronco name. I’d say that’s a tough thing to do in this market. If it was called Maverick and was never mentioned in the same name as bronco, you probably wouldn’t see the same reactions.

  3. Or we could just wait and see what it’s capable of before passing judgement.

  4. Perhaps this is the source of the confusion? If the Sport is as you say not meant to be a "serious off-roader", and is simply a tougher looking version of "just about any vehicle" then it has no business wearing the Bronco name on its grill.

  5. Stopped reading about 1/4 of the way through. We are not talking a year. We are talking 2-4 weeks is all that is needed and there is 2 months supply on hand. A month should not destroy a household and if it does, that is pour planning on their part financially.

  6. Was there ever doubt? CD4 is an evolution of EUCD, which was an offshoot of C1.

  7. Well when I ordered my 2020 Aviator running boards wasn’t available. It has been a struggle for both of us (wife & I) to enter and exit our Reserve II trimmed ride. I did order it with the Air Glide Suspension with Dynamic Lower Entry option but that feature is limited to functioning from start up only. For instance if you were running a errand and you needed to get out for a quick moment then jump back in without shutting the vehicle off the height of the SUV wold stay up. At this point I would struggle t re-enter the vehicle as the driver or if my passenger entered after I started the vehicle which often is the case when my wife rides with me the vehicle would be in the high position - it made quick stops difficult on the egress/engress for short legged folks like we are. Finally as of early March the OEM running boards became available so I ordered them. What a difference in getting and getting out of the vehicle - I’m so glad I made the investment to add these. They been on my Aviator for three days at this write and it is so much easier to get in (and out)of the vehicle! Plus they enhance the look of the Aviator as well.

  8. Could swear the Yusheng S330 and the Landwind X7 are based on an updated version of the original Escape.

  11. FORScan uses a single plugged into your OBD plug and allows you via laptop computer to change the programming on various azpects of the vehicle. For instance, you can turn off the double honk when exiting the the running vehicle with a key or permanently disable the auto start stop. There is also a setting for the max temp setting for the heated wheel. Check the f150 or expedition forums for more info.

  14. Congrats! Great old truck from the days of creative two-toned body colors. No sense in buying a $50k truck when you need a $1k truck! Something very cool about an old truck - I just picked up a '98 with 180k this past summer and have grown very fond of it, in spite of having to do all those small but tedious repairs like broken vacuum lines and dash back-lighting that you just have to do on an old vehicle.

  15. Ford build both on the B1 Fiesta/Mazda2 and C1 Focus/Mazda3 on the same line in Thailand and Taiwan and Mazda did it in Hiroshima. And for a brief time, Ford build B1 Fiesta in Valencia with both C1 and C2 Focus as well before Fiesta was consolidated at Cologne. So from a production standpoint, we know it's possible to accommodate. I would be surprised to learn if Ford can't build C2 and B2 on the same line. The reason B1/C1 or B1/C2 joint assembly wasn't done in the Americas had to do with plant utilization, Govt subsidy, and tariff more than anything else.

  16. Hopefully this will cause some changes in preparedness - having a stock of protective equipment and plans to increase production and funnel to where it's needed quickly. Having predetermined levels of social distancing. Businesses having a better plan to withstand a 2-3 week quarantine at a time. Etc. etc.

  18. I ordered the running boards for several reasons. My wife is vertically challenged and her seat height setting is all the way up... and as mentioned above the suspension doesn't lower when it's running and the delay is too long after it's turned off. The running boards will also help protect and keep clean the underside of the doors/rockers and the bottom door seals, even better than the splash guards would. The styling and textured flat black finish should look good with any model Aviator.

  19. No doubt the 7.3 makes all kind of sense as a truck engine-push rods and all. But as for OHC, what makes the Ecoboost concept so valid? IMO all kinds of torque at low RPM. My SHO (3.5) could hold a higher gear and drop down to 1200 RPM as long as you had a light foot. Now my 3.0T doesn't seem to drop as low but it still works at lower RPMs. To those who say Ecoboosts suck as far as fuel economy I say, it should be called.."Eco or boost". Drive with a light foot and you get good MPG's . Want to feel that power? Pay the price.

  20. I've gotten emails from my lenders (have two mortgages for two different properties) and they offering some sort of help with them if needed. I might take up the one with my condo rental depending on how things shake out-only reason I've hung on it is to do the right thing-I was upside down on it due to a refinance (at the height of the market 13 years ago) and its rented out. I have another 5 years or so till I can break even on it. Hopefully my tenant can make his payments still. My wife's job has been affected by this and she'll find out next week if she'll be able to go back to work after the 20th of next month after spring break for school or go on unemployment. She also visits clients in the evenings for training/etc (works with kids with autism), but that is up in the air now to, due to the restrictions the state I live in have put out and how terribly ran her company is (they put Ford to shame LOL). It will work out one way or another...I just have this feeling that we will be lucky to be going back to a new normal by the end of May...

  21. One thing to note, it looks like the options that leaked were a part of the badlands package. Other packages could come with more/different options.

  25. I really don't think it's socialist to ask these banks to temporarily suspend their mortgage payments given the circumstances. It's the least they could do as a thanks for federal savings insurance and the mere discussion of bank bailouts. I would also support a similar measure for student loans. (Absolutely no debt forgiveness however) That said, I'm also not against letting certain exceptionally poorly run banks fail, we have to be careful not to encourage and promote bad banking practices by always bailing them out.

  26. Yeah, this is all conjecture at this point. Personally I really like options so while I'm not necessarily against having the 3cyl in the lineup, it is kind of sad that we will get something like that in the Bronco Sport but may not see a V8 in the regular Bronco. My expectations are just high and I really want Ford to deliver, and hopefully exceed them.

  27. I totally understand where you are coming from, but like aKirby said, let’s wait and see. I was likely minimizing its capabilities, and I expect some versions to be more capable, but I’m not expecting it to be more capable than the Bronco. The 235 tires available on the BrS are nearly 30 inches in diameter and the same size of tire I had on my Ranger 4x4 back in the day. I would have liked to have seen 31’s available, but this isn’t bad. Also keep in mind there were many 4 cylinder Jeep Wranglers that certainly wouldn’t be called powerful, yet they were competent enough 4x4s.

  29. So, had to go for a drive. Steering wheel, to me, definitely felt warmer until the cabin began to warm up. The seats...wow! I had to turn them down after about 5 minutes. It's snowed here all day. Used "Slippery" mode. Handled like a dream. Also, first opportunity to see how the rain sensing wipers worked. (Again, coming from an old vehicle). Worked great. All in all an awesome vehicle.

  31. My Jeep Wrangler has one heated steering wheel level and it's really toasty. Our Volvo is much warmer as well. Even our minivan that this car replaced had a warmer steering wheel. Oh well ... first world problems, especially all things considered right now.

  32. With C1/C2 and EUCD/CD4, the construction process Was standardised so while the parts are different they use the same work stations and assembly sequence and processes. Remember tat some of the prep work for Focus had already been done at Hermosillo, so I bet Ford made good use of that for the other C2s

  33. As I understand it, they didn’t start as common but have been rolled into one over arching “architecture” which to me is code for grouping engineering modules and cost centres.

  34. But it built the Escort and Focus before that. Both compacts. And I thought they rebuilt the lines when they expanded it about 10 years ago. Its capacity is huge.

  38. After reading the last several posts, I’m not sure what people are expecting the BS to be. To me it seems like it’s competition will be the Compass, Crosstrek, etc, as previously mentioned. This isn’t meant to be a serious off-roader, it merely has to handle some light off-roading to get your mountain bikes to the trailhead. Most of that will consist of some gravel or dirt roads, and some wet grass. Frankly, just about any vehicle can handle that. Concerning price, we don’t even know what that will be yet, so it’s hard to be concerned about at this point. If they want this to be competitive with the aforementioned vehicles, then I can’t imagine they will price it out of the market. Although I don’t care for some of the details that have come to light regarding the BS, I would never choose those as options anyway, so it doesn’t really matter. However, those low end options will allow A more affordable opportunity to those trying to get in on the pseudo off-road game with a storied name badge behind it. After all, it is a company trying to sell vehicles to make money, which provides opportunities for them to build the performance vehicles that I actually like to buy. Those base models help pay for those performance options.
