  3. Here's my gripe list for the "new" 2020 Explorer XLT: - Forward Sensing System option is gone - Auto-Dimming Interior Rearview Mirror option is gone - Auto-Dimming Driver's Side Exterior Mirror option is gone - Chrome finished dual exhaust tips are gone (the old fashioned semi-concealed bent tips in use now are disgusting) - LED indicators in rearview mirrors are gone - The XLT radio has been and continues to be awful. If you're going to give the Limited and above a 10 or 12 or 14 speaker B&O system, give the XLT a B&O system with 6 or 8 speakers. Also, please tell me why in the world the Explorer (in all trims) STILL does not have rear LED turn-signals? The re-design in the rear was questionable as it is, but in the XLT, the lack of decent looking exhaust coupled with old incandescent bulbs didn't help. Grrrr... Does anyone else feel like Ford skimped on certain items in order to justify giving all trims the new Co-Pilot Assist package as standard equipment?

  4. So I read that Land Rover is phasing out the Ford supplied 4.4 V8 turbodiesel in Range Rover and replacing it with a Hybrid 3.0 I-6 turbodiesel. Clearly, a move to improve fuel efficiency and lower exhaust emissions but I wonder if this now opens the door to Ford to use this Premium V8 Diesel in its larger SUVs and F150 truck..... Yes, covid-19 has thrown the brakes on everything at the moment but after the crisis passes, I wonder if Ford will take a chance on the Lion V8......

  5. Thank you DonnyHacker sir. I agree with akirby that it looks like a good deal. Definitely one of the better kept 1st gen Explorer Sport Trac I've seen. I'm down the road in Fort Worth. As with any used vehicle, be sure to do a through pre-purchase inspection by an independent mechanic if you're interested in moving forward with this deal.

  6. Sounds like a good deal regardless.

  7. Is it just me or does this guy pop in your head every time you hear GIGAfactory?

  8. In this case, they told me that the engine and transmission were both rebuilt about 80K miles ago. The entire vehicle itself has around 300,000 and I have not seen it in person yet. You can check the advert out here: https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/d/plano-2003-ford-explorer-sports-trac/7098378399.html

  9. They do distribute new as well as remanufactured parts, and if you order one remanufactured it will say "reman" (or something to that effect to denote it is remanufactured) on the invoice/shipping tag inside the packaging.

  10. Until Elon Musk took all the crystals with a space x rocket to run his five gigafactories and 10 tents funded by Paypal after he patented the sun and solar panels and will make 10 million cars next month... or MHLM5 would have said.

  11. Hello DonnyHacker sir, nice find! Probably the biggest technical issue with 1st generation Explorer Sport Trac is the 5-speed automatic transmission (5R55). Servo bore and valve body are known to wear out quickly. During your test drive, pay close attention for any shift "flares" and slipping. Also, if the Overdrive light in the instrument panel blinks while driving, it may be symptomatic of servo bore and/or valve body issues. Also, timing chain guide and tensioner failure was a common issue for the 4.0L SOHC V6 engine. Ford did update the tensioner with a more durable design by 2003. Still, doesn't hurt to pay attention to any rattling noises from the engine as described here. https://www.enginebuildermag.com/2011/03/rattle-noise-from-primary-chain-drive-on-ford-4-0l-sohc-engine/ Best wishes!

  12. Yeah okay BUT the $600 in additional "funny money" supplements the State money and I am gonna guess Ford will be able to keep their Sub pay.The intention of SUB pay is to gaurantee that an employee is compensated 80% of their pay while laid off.Trying to 'split hairs' by saying that the states portion of the total compensation received by the laid-off employee is seperate from what the feds are stepping in to additionally pay the laid-off employee is not going to matter, so long as the combination of the 2 equals at a minimum 80% of the employees take home pay.Nice try though!

  13. The Corsair's Beyond Blue is interesting but I think its a little too much blue. Our 14 F150 Limited has blue full grain leather on just the seating surfaces/headrests in front and back that looks really good... giving it a nice contast without looking too busy. Lincoln nailed the new medium slate gray interior color... not too dark, not too light... perfect shade for a luxury car.

  15. The 2.5 seems to be a confirmation that the previous 2.0 hybrid system was underpowered, the 2.5 PHEV needs to be made more available and less price restrictive. Those are generous words from Car and Driver, it shows that Ford has done a good job with Escape

  16. Seems to be an excellent power plant. I’m assuming it will be available in the Fusion Sportswagon and possibly the NG Edge.

  17. 5% benefit to the EPA City cycle fuel economy number is about right and it's huge. Some serious weight-shaving would be lucky to net 5%, and I can assure that costs more than putting the start-stop hardware. Not only stop-start is driven by CAFE standards, but also there's also a huge emission benefit which not many people care for, but one can argue that emission is harder to catch up than CAFE CO2 because at least you can buy CO2 credits from other OEM's while emissions is something you need to make up for one way or another. Ironically, the most effective way to reduce emission is dump a lot of fuel in the cold start to minimize incomplete combustion, so it actually hurts fuel economy. There should not be a way to permanently disable start-stop because it is against EPA's rules. BMW was the only OEM up until 2018 to have the option to permanently disable, but in order to do that, they were forced to submit another fuel economy test with stop-start disabled and have a label that was the average between a test with S/S and without S/S. Ever since 2019, BMW joined the rest of the OEMs to enable S/S at every key cycle because it is just too costly to have this feature for only half-credit and gaining that extra 1 mpg gain on the city is too much to refuse. Customers hate it, and yes, it will likely shorten your overall 12V battery life, but welcome to the era of regulations.

  18. Perhaps, but it looks pretty badass. IMO, the base Gladiators are not very appealing, however the Rubicon and other lifted models look good. My son likes the lifted versions and I had sent him this one the other day.

  19. That was addressed to TobyTime who appears to have the feature just not the menu option to turn them off so he probably already has the update. If you have neither then you need to get the update to activate them. I know what they are - we have the HID version on our 2016 MkX.

  20. Most likely to keep the point of entry a bit lower. It leaves the door open for those wanting those features to move up a trim level. I have my sites on the ST with all of that standard.

  21. So sad to hear that two Ford workers in Detroit area have succumbed to covid-19, thoughts and prayers to their families.
