  1. That's even more rare though. Around where I live there's a lot of older neighborhoods where it's houses on small lots and, if you’re lucky, a short driveway with no garage. That means almost exclusively street parking only. Who wants to run a power cable from your house across the lawn/sidewalk to the street? Not many I'm sure.

  2. Pure lunacy!!! Next, you'll be suggesting that Ford build a crossover CUV with EV only powertrain options and call it a Mustang. ...oh, wait.....

  3. In the spirit of the Lincoln MKT the new compact truck could be named: FKT ?

  5. The 1.5 Dragon is not as bad as folks make out, I think it has a nice note in Escape and is far from weak as a base engine. All of this is ironic because our Aussie Escapes will all be 2.0 EB, the only option is the 2.5 PHEV on Titanium.... but ours come from Europe where a diesel option is still available.

  6. I almost have as much enjoyment from the arguments here with it only being topped by Mr. Bill on SNL...and detroit wonders why buyers just shrug there shoulders and go across the street to the foreign guys

  7. You are correct, it looks 15/16th bad. That is just so wrong. To each his own I guess...

  8. OK, I was a bit confused, I thought the 1.5 was the same 4-banger that was in the previous Escape and in the Fusion. I found THAT engine to be a bit rough on the edges when I was shopping a few weeks ago. The Fusion hybrid they had for the same price was smoother and more powerful, which is why I bought that one. A big 3 cylinder would definitely be a no go for me.

  9. By the way BL, if you decide to lift the truck for better access, remember that you need to turn the running boards off if your jack will interfere with their operation. I used a floor jack to jack up the passenger side so I had to disable the running boards.

  10. One concern I have is that a lot of buyers will walk if they don't have easy access to the 2.0 EB, locking it away in AWD only in SEL and Titanium trims is Ford urging buyers to spend more to get the 2.0 EB but it may be having the opposite effect.

  11. I would not waste time with that pump, you want to get the crap out of the pan, Still have to get dirty removing the oil filter.

  12. I saw a lot about a rush of oil from the plastic drain plug engine, but this one is completely normal. No experience with that device.

  13. Back to my previous post about the anti-EV crowd bringing up the same tired talking points over and over and over again... The actual breakdown of households in the US is something like 70% have off street parking, 22% don't(8% don't have a car). The 70% includes apartments and condos with their own parking. Installing chargers at those won't a big problem, many condo complexes already have them. Of course, in the here and now, there's not a big demand for chargers at rental properties. That will change. And if the local governments don't require them first, market forces will. And before you whine that's "unfair" to make ICE drivers pay for the chargers, there's people who never use the swimming pools, rec rooms, fitness centers, etc. that have to pay for those too. An access card or code would charge the electricity to the user. For the 22%, obviously something will have to figured out. But that's above either one of our pay grades.

  14. Since no one has driven any Broncos you pulled your OPINION directly out of your ass!

  15. It's super easy to refute that. It's much more convenient for the majority of households in this country that have garages, carports, or other off street parking to take 5-10 seconds a day to plug in and unplug than it is to stop for fuel. You wake up every morning to a "full tank". Taking road trips is a different story for now, which is why I drive a gas powered car. I did just buy a Fusion hybrid.

  16. I`m having an old long hair moment here.... can`t cut and paste the link There are some interesting questions out there about just what the hell is going on, this post has some interesting points that will start a few interesting conversations. Maybe? "Is What We`re Being Told About The Coronavirus Pandemic Wrong?" By; Dereck Hunter Posted April 05, 2020 12:01 am When did we become a society that reacts to all the what if`s? even when the what if`s aren`t panning out as the media and crystal ball watchers keep singing to the herd? In the last sentence of the third paragraph click on "reality so far" this will bring up the data so far for totals. Is the data right? - wrong? who knows but... one thing we don`t see over all is what the "model" and crystal watchers are stating.

  17. That requirement was waived temporarily.

  18. So is yours. You have provided zero data as to why the current engines in the Bronco are insufficient (assuming our guesses as to what are going to be in it are accurate).

  19. BUT WAIT,,,,,,there`s MORE. I am laid-off and also under a 'Stay at Home' order issued by no less than the Governor of Michigan,Gretchen Whitmer.Okay well my checks all stopped and I need my unemployment check.Well I signed up and was told that I need to register with the state agency and be actively seeking work in order to get paid benefits.Okay,I registered online with the state agency but the physical office location is closed under orders by the governor. So,,,,how do I actively seek employment when the entire state is in a state of emergency? This is the problem with Big Government,it results in red tape and confusion with no accountability.I cant imagine the nightmare of "Medicare for all".The one thing government is very good at is finding you and taxing you if you get a paycheck.? I think that Michigan is going to remain locked down for the entire month of April.Should be back to work in May and this has really "cooled my jets" as far as trying to get ahead in our Democratic-Socialist society. My plant was already having a difficult time getting my particular trade to work sufficient over time. All I can say is HIRE MORE PEOPLE,Ford.Oh,,,the younger kids don't wanna work in the trades that much anymore.Well cant say I blame them, especially when everything is "FREE" anyways,EAT THE RICH!

  20. Go to 3:20 you will see the plastic part that fails

  21. Full synthetic for us too on our '18. Metal bolt, not plastic. I don't need to jack up the front to slide under as long as I lay on the floor and not a dolly, and I'm a big person. Nice tip on rotating the oil pan cover, I'll have to try that next time. I'm usually able to find 5 qts synthetic at our local auto parts store (O'Reillys, Western Washington area) for no more than $25, and sometimes they run a special that includes the oil filter in that price. Oil changes are easier on our Navigator than most vehicles, easy access to everything.

  23. Neither does about 99.7% of the US population.. If you include all of the super cold areas of the country, that's about 3 or 4%. But back to the point; who is going to leave their charge cord outside long enough to have it freeze to the ground and get buried under a foot of snow, other than a complete dolt?

  24. I do not, and even if I did I wouldn't be able to share it. I do not ,however, (IN MY OWN OPINION) see how it stays on schedule at this point. The longer this drags on, the more likely it is we don't start even building preproduction units until after Labor Day.

  25. You don’t get it. All you have to say is I would prefer X or I wish they would offer Y. Instead you say that what they do offer is flawed or insufficient which is ridiculous in most cases. You need to choose your words more carefully if you don’t want people to argue with you. Nobody would argue with “I’d love to see the 2.3 in Bronco Sport “ or “I’d prefer a 5.0 V8 in Bronco”.

  26. Stock price has nothing to do with the financial health of a company (unfortunately). I’m simply explaining why Ford’s strategy makes financial sense for Ford. Doesn’t mean consumers will like it.

  27. The difference is that GM, Ford, VW, BMW, JLR, and M-B already have their own EV programs, they're doing JVs to share costs. By all accounts, most of the Japanese automakers are nowhere on EVs, largely because they've clung to the fool cell fantasy. This was aided and abetted by their government's generous $20K per car subsidies for FCVs.

  28. I hear there are people mad that V16s are readily available anymore as well... And that you need to wear seatbelts... And that you no longer have full-size wagons... And "your aluminum truck is no match for my steel truck"... If anyone is standing in the way of the inevitable, I suggest you look up the term "Luddite" in the dictionary.

  29. I've had my Aviator GT for 2 months now and use the cruise with lane centering quite regularly. I've found the lane centering works very well overall and have not experienced what you described. It sounds like a glitch, I'd take it back to the dealer to check it. It definitely sounds like the camera behind the rearview mirror needs to be calibrated. The lane centering on mine does keep the car relatively centered, it does slightly favor the left side of the lane but it steers around gentle curves by itself with ease. You do have to provide some manual pressure on the wheel every 5-10 seconds or the warning message pops up to put your hands on the wheel. The only time I got the cancelled message is when I had it on, it was keeping the car centered and I intentionally nudged the wheel a bit to one side to avoid a pothole in the road. Even on the few times the lane centering got cancelled it automatically reset itself after about 5 seconds or so.

  30. It may be a risk for Toyota to devote this much production capacity to a single model. But for all its faults, Toyota is very agile when it comes to manufacturing processes and plant utilization. If sales of RAV4 collapse over a long period of time, I'm sure Toyota will be able to adapt the TMMC and TMMK facilities for other products fairly quickly.
