  1. The kit includes a K&N high-flow drop-in air filter and the equipment needed to upload the new engine and transmission tune. The company claims an extra 45 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and 60 pound-feet of torque at 2,500 rpm. Ford didn't specify if that's at the power and torque peaks, so we reached out for details and will update this post when we hear back. The tune also updates the shift timing and characteristics for the Ranger's 10-speed automatic, apparently giving it "crisper, more precise shifts." This isn't the first engine tune for the Ranger on the market, other companies have released their own, but a perk of the Ford example is that it's legal in all 50 states, yes, even California. It also comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty when installed by a Ford dealer or ASE certified technician. https://www.yahoo.com/autos/ford-ranger-gets-extra-power-132500161.html

  2. I hear a lot about one group being "for us" and the other group is "against us"'. Of course the group`s flip flop with the "for' or "against" label depending on who is rambling. Just wondering why "us" being in this experiment for about 244 years, gave so many lives to stop the advancement of an ideology that has proven time and time again that just doesn't fit or is not wanted by "us". This ideology hasn`t proven as a form of governing that works well for the "us`s" in the parts of the world that has groups that run this ideology. In one part of the world there is proof that this ideology has crumbled and then a group put their form of the ideology in place and the "us`s" now have a life time president. I hear high ranking members of one group that has many times promoted being "for the us`s". One member of the group that has held public office, been first lady and secretary of this great place in the world is now once again defending a group that has the ideology in place for years. Then there is another member of this group promoting how he can only be "for the "us`s". This member has continuing family business with a part of the world that makes "us`s" disappear if the "us`s" say anything against the groups ideologies. These two members of this group defend, agree with and outwardly promote the ideologies. Then there is a member of this group that thought if he just renamed or spinned the ideology would make all "the for us`s" think they`d be once again the groups first on the list of concerns and compassion. Russia is supporting China`s Reaction Plan During the Covid 19 Pandemic After seeing that headline, I know completely that the group supporting this ideology has put me out of their "for us" group . I can not understand how the group that is aligned with, defending and promoting this ideology will continue pulling the wool over the eyes of the "us`s". United States is not of that other ideology. Yet.

  3. LED turn signals generally require another part for the signal to sync properly. So it is cheaper/easier to just use incandescents. If you watch the documentary a Faster Horse, the chief cost cutter has to shave pennies off each item to ensure everything stays in cost. An extra $5-$10 relay to make LEDs work is going to add a lot to the cost. Also consider this, these newer LED tail lights and LED headlights cost $500-$1000 EACH to replace. So those are already adding a lot to the cost of the vehicle.

  4. OMG! Just hit 2100 miles today or should I say 2100 smiles. I have found my sanctuary to be everything I was hoping for and more. It is definitely not a quiet sanctuary, I use the Lincoln plus Alexa app to pull my favorite playlists and for 25 minutes each way to and from work folks must think I'm nuts. I might be belting out AC/DC or Elvis, who knows, who cares, it's my world. I find it fun to appear to be turning the wheel hard left and right as I dance my way down the freeway, leaving staying in the lines to the car. The seats are amazingly comfortable and after getting them dialed in perfect for my back, I get out refreshed and ready to catch fish without bait. If I had a house full of runaway children I too would retreat to my own little world and be very happy. You see that image of my fuel savings? Yeah, that's right $500 a quarter, $2000 a year in just gas I would normally use. 1600lbs of CO2 is like what my AC unit produces every 5 years. If this Aviator could just make Bacon and Eggs every morning it would be nirvana. Her beauty is easy on the eyes and interior velvety soft. The only issue I've had is it was two easy to hit 90mph and the c pillar obstructed my view of the State Cop coming on the on ramp. It was a minor issue due to a gentleman's agreement to withhold a little effort on the peddle.

  5. Time for something fun since there isn't really any news... So here is the question: Which defunct Ford brand/division would you bring back, why, and what would be your ideal lineup for that brand/division? Your choices: Ford Tractor Mercury Mercury Trucks Merkur Meteor Monarch Edsel Continental FPV Thames: Have some fun!

  6. How do you like the Edge ST? I've been eyeing them as a next vehicle, but I did the math and even with that 2.7 fully tuned, the weight is too close to an Explorer and won't produce as much power as the Explorer ST's 3.0 with a tune. It'd be somewhat close. Yes the aluminum hoods on the 11-19 Explorers are prone to corrosion. There's a bunch of bubbling and aluminum oxide on the leading edge of my hood. The rear brakes are dragging so badly that my garage is filled with the smell of burning metal and the rear rotors/calipers are changing colors due to the heat. Apparently both are known issues with the 11-19 Explorers but I also live in Michigan with the extensive use of road salt during the winter.

  7. Sensors (particularly the MAF) on modern cars really don't like K&N filters because they’re presoaked with oil.

  8. I'm sure fuel economy takes a hit which is probably why they are being sold as dealer installed accessories and not directly from factory as a performance trim level or package.

  9. Unfortunately just because they are LED doesn't mean they are good. IIHS is now testing headlight performance on a lot of newer vehicles. My 2017 Ford Fusion Sport has LED low and high beams, my 2018 Explorer XLT has LED low / H7 high, and the 2020 Explorer has LED low/high, and F-150 Lariat w/ 502A and higher trims have LEDs as well. 2020 Escape Titanium has LEDs as well. Out of these, the Escape Titanium has the most lighting performance for low and high beams. The Fusion Sport and Explorer are inadequate in many of the test criteria, and the F-150 isn't that great either. However the 2016-2019 Explorer low beams are very good. I can attest that the first day I drove off the lot with my 2018 XLT, the low beams lit up everything. I never felt the need for more lighting, and my 2018 does not have fog lights (the LED foglights are worthless on my Fusion Sport). So using the Fusion Sport and 2018 Explorer IIHS data as baselines, I'd say the 2020 Explorer and F-150 LED headlights aren't going to be as good as the 16-19 LED low beams. But the 2020 Escape Titanium should have really good LED light output.

  11. I'm not a big Adam Jonas fan, but he is one of the more well respected Wall Street automotive analysts out there. Plus, Deutsche Bank agreed with Morgan Stanley on Ford and GM's cash drain. But this is worst case scenario. Even Adam Jonas says so. The odds of every Ford and GM factory remaining shutdown through August is slim. Once they resume production, both companies will start to generate revenue and the doomsday scenario goes out the window.

  12. Wow, thanks for the pic Mustangchief, I didn't even know the Lincoln app had that screen with the EV driving stats I went to find it myself now. Here's mine so far, which is based on current odometer of 2,258km (1,403mi):

  13. Ours came in just in time before car sales were shut down in PA along with the stay at home/essential business order... only serevice/parts departments are designated essential. So we haven't been out much and have only driven the GT a few times so far... but seeing it for the first time and driving it home were defenetly OMG jaw dropping moments! The medium slate interior with engine turned aluminum trim, full rear consol and rear entertainment screens is just stunning! I concur that the seats are awesome, just remember to save your settings after spending a long time finding the perfect position and then showing your wife how to do it... something I forgot to do in my exitement! Didn't realize it until it was time to save her settings... that was an oh sh_t moment, lol.

  14. And while it's not on your list of choices, I would return the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) name to US Ford Performance products. I think that team and brand had real recognition and meaning to Ford enthusiasts, and "Ford Performance" just doesn't evoke the same feelings (IMHO).

  15. After reading several posts on this board and doing a little research I ordered the AutoStopEliminator for $99.00. Installed in less than 10 minutes. Totally worth it. I understand that the auto/stop feature saves gas. It most likely causes wear and tear on your vehicle (starter motor, battery, etc). I find it annoying when the car shuts itself off. It is even more annoying that you have to remember to press two buttons to turn the auto/stop feature off every time you start the car. Would I eventually get used to it? Probably. But for a $100 and ten minutes of time, annoyance solved. Now my Aviator runs like every other car I have ever owned (meaning I decide when it starts and shuts off). I have also noticed that the auto/start stop feature is even more troublesome when used together with the auto/hold feature. The engine wont start until you press the gas pedal as opposed to starting as soon as you release the brake pedal. I have owned my Aviator for a little over 2 months now. I have had some minor problems that the dealership quickly corrected. Which I expected being a brand new model year. I am still getting used to it, but overall, it is a beautiful vehicle with incredible features and comfort. IMHO.
