  1. Exactly LOL. Crash ratings are based on the results after the impact, not avoidance. Hence the term crash rating.

  4. You're forgetting one major thing. Those profits from the Titian and Tundra, don't stay in the US. I have no idea where Ram goes. Titan and Tundra are both bottom of the barrel as far as being competitive. The only redeeming factor for Toyota is you get the quality (real or perceived) of Toyota. The Titan is the value pick. Neither sell well.

  5. I heard the IIHS is working on their newest test - known as the "Banana" test. it measures the impact a pedestrian might have if they slip on a banana peel and hit the car. All vehicles currently get 1 star on it, meaning all cars are now death traps.

  6. In a word, no. The vehicle safety score that NHTSA and IIHS uses is currently based on 'old-school' metrics looking at the cage & frame design of the vehicle along with the seat and airbag designs that successfully protect the occupants. You hit the car and assess the damage, that simple. Now IIHS realizes the 21st century-appropriate vehicle safety score should include the driver-assist features like backup cameras, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, etc. So far it started to include headlight reviews and does have one-off testing how effective the pedestrian avoidance systems are from different automakers (https://www.iihs.org/news/detail/performance-of-pedestrian-crash-prevention-varies-among-midsize-cars), but it is not a standard procedure just yet.

  8. Be intentionally obtuse to your heart's content, a crash rating is exactly what the phrase implies.

  9. If this thing is going to cost $30-40k, it’s a failure from the start. if it’s basically a mach-e with a different face and an ICE, it would probably do ok at that price range. But a wagon has no chance at that price. The Subaru Outback that they mention in the article is pretty much the only wagon that sells in any volume worth mentioning and it starts at 26k. Does ford think they can out-Subaru Subaru? I don’t think so.

  14. There was a story from last year saying that Hyundai will be bringing a N version of the Tucson with 340 hp. I think it would be coming out next year. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.motor1.com/news/303607/hyundai-tucson-n-rumor/amp/ they also came out with an N Line package (just like the st line, appearance package only) this year for Europe. So it appears other manufacturers are thinking about it.

  15. Same for Camry, Corolla, Tacoma. It's boring but it's a winning formula if you have loyal buyers. I think Ford makes too many changes too quickly and that's costing them in warranty repairs and customer perception.

  16. Great post! Add the CCP and BFF Soros also quelled the Hong Kong revolution. They got the trifecta: Americans live forever in fear, Trump taken out, Hong Kong quiet and cooperative. The Swamp and CCP can now go back to business as usual.

  17. Toyota fan boys are very strange. They love and buy Toyota because they despise American designed and built trucks, then they spin to brag that somehow a Toyota is an American truck. The simple fact is: America was not built on the backs of foreign trucks.

  18. I'm one of those guys that purchased a spare plug for the 2.7L Nautilus, also purchased spare o-rings and filter housing. I "feel" better having these on hand just in case. Appreciate info on draining procedure, only 1500 miles on car so not ready to change oil yet.

  19. Democrats know that Trump can win re-election on his economic successes alone. The hype about this supposed pandemic and resulting shutdown is all designed to tank our economy to keep Trump from winning again. The only person I can think of who could pull this off is George Soros yet I haven’t seen or heard of anything to that effect, yet. This shut down kills two birds with one stone. It also begins the process of the “sheepie” accepting being told what to do and slowly giving up their civil liberties. This whole thing reminds me of a false flag event. How’s that for another conspiracy theory!! Take it for what its worth.

  21. Before returning to work and daily thereafter, you are requested to complete the Online Self-Certification questionnaire which will help you determine if there are any important symptoms that would prevent you from returning to work. You can find the questionnaire. Temperature Scanning: The latest technology in temperature scanning will be set up at designated entrances to your facility to identify people who have elevated body temperatures (a fever). Out of an abundance of caution, you will not be permitted to enter the facility if the scan indicates that your temperature is above the normal threshold. Everyone entering a Ford Motor Company location will be required to wear a face mask. Ford employees will be provided a mask upon entry. This policy will remain in effect until COVID-19 is no longer a critical risk to our employees.

  22. The biggest problem with oiled gauze air filters is that they get dirty/clog very quickly. They maybe "lifetime", but they require more frequent cleaning. As mentioned, they are known to cause MAF problems.
