  2. Ford now has over $30 billion in cash reserves too after exercising its revolving line of credit. Might be best to hold off on that prediction of Ford’s demise. The Ford family is the whole reason the company won’t go chapter 10 ever.

  5. Even though I'm involved in media buying as an advertising manager, I stopped listening to AM/FM a long time ago. If I'm not streaming original recordings from my days as a studio engineer, I do listen to Sirius/XM in my company demo mostly to listen to news. There was a time a while back when SiriusXM was streaming the old Tonight Show with Johnny Carson which was terrific. It was so enjoyable that I started a desktop subscription. After they dropped the Tonight Show streaming I cancelled my subscription. Unfortunately, SiriusXM is anything but friendly to their customers and the only way to cancel is by calling them as they have no provision to do so online. The experience was such that I will never, ever pay SiriusXM for anything again.

  12. I'm going to take a wild guess here and say Toyota's cash (and/or cash equivalents-or at least most of it) is not borrowed (or ready to be borrowed). Not sure about VW. You can't borrow your way to prosperity-long term. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-11-07/toyota-has-record-36-6-billion-in-cash-after-dumping-securities

  13. So are we thinking the following....Bronco lineup is possible ? Bronco (2 and 4 door) Bronco Sport Trac/Maverick (Gladiator Competitor) Bronco Sport Bronco Sport Pickup (Ranchero/Courier) That would be a very STRONG lineup...love it.

  14. Some people didn't like the Sport Trac, but I always thought it was a really attractive and high-utility vehicle.

  15. As a current Sport Trac owner...I would LOVE a Bronco Sport Trac...Bring it!

  16. This is actually a very good sign that the small pickup is far along. Usually these type of vehicle part leaks are from the suppliers. If the suppliers are gearing up for the product, then that means the design has been set in stone and it is a full go from Ford.

  17. Bill Ford would have his Mom sell the Lions, sell all their collective investments in other businesses and real estate, just to invest the money in the company before it would happen. Im sure a few other members would do the same.

  19. I was at my dealer yesterday for my first oil change and to have the headlight control module reprogrammed. It seemed very busy and you would never know anything was going on other than a lot of cleaning. I took the time to look over new cars and all were unlocked as usual and nobody told me not to sit in them or anything. I sat in a Ranger and finally ruled that out. They're just too bare bones inside. I sat in 2 Explorer ST's and 1 Platinum. The interiors seem to be more cheaply put together than what I recall my 17 Platinum being like. I'm waiting for the Bronco to hit the lots before making up my mind.

  21. I'd rather not see it in the grille, but that's for heritage reasons. I wouldn't mind it as a fender badge, and/or on one side of the swing gate.

  22. Correct..they are marketing driven. The boxer engine and AWD doesn't mean shit to the typical consumer who doesn't even change their own oil and there are other products that offer AWD that they compete against. IMO their styling isn't anything to write home about.

  23. I don't think it looks terrible, but certainly not exciting or fresh. I'm pretty sure Fusion active will look just like a bigger Escape.

  24. "Just don't call it a station wagon, okay? That's why the Active will likely be butched up with chunky lower body cladding for tackling the trail to Costco." This is exactly what the people where I live want. My neighbor's kids all want the Crosstrek because to them it 'looks' rugged and 'cool' without being a truck or Jeep. Outback is insanely popular here at the many trailhead parking lots and ski resorts all racked up for gear. Compete in that space, make it affordable, and Ford can definitely hit a sweet spot- for young active buyers who might become loyal into their old age. Subaru has an un-earned loyal following. My Independent loves Subaru's -they keep him in business. He always has a few in the shop. This is anecdotal, but he chuckles: "After 100k miles they constantly break and need repair, but the owners love them so much they just keep fixing them." Good for his business, they all have the same problems and he has become really good at fixing them over and over.

  25. This vehicle really doesn’t appeal to me, and I really don’t understand the necessity of it, since it is so close to an SUV. I know this has been debated ad nauseam, but the Fusion should just remain a sedan and simply improved enough to look new on the exterior and interior, with minor mechanical changes, to keep the costs down.

  26. So I bit the bullet and bought a very gently used 2019 Nautilus Reserve. It has every option available except the rear seat entertainment system. I bought it from a dealership in Wooster, Ohio, about 92 miles from my home. The entire deal was conducted via 2 phone calls and text messaging. The dealership delivered the car to my home so I could test drive it with the hubby. I had to go through the drive through at my bank to get a cashier check. We signed all the paperwork in my driveway. On day 2, I messed up the liftgate trying to program it to not open so far that it hit my garage door. I called the local Lincoln dealer. They offered to pick it up and bring me a loaner but I chose to take it directly to the dealership. They gave me a loaner and had my liftgate working the next day at no charge to me. I can say that my experience at the Lincoln dealership was more than I ever expected. I love my new ride and look forward to having it for many years. It is Burgandy Velvet exterior with Ebony interior. I can't say I would have chosen the exterior color but it has really grown on me. The deal on this vehicle was just too good to pass up.

  27. The Corsair looks much bigger than it is, but it's a much smaller vehicle than the Nautilus (at least to me), although the Aviator feels like a living room compared to the Nautilus with I already find a little smaller than ideal for my tall self. I got to check out a Corsair and the design is nice, but I would still grade the interior quality higher on the Nautilus despite the older design language. The Corsair is a little busy with an abundance of glossy black surfaces and a prominent horizontal vent design which is something of a design pet-peeve I regret Lincoln is doing only on this car. The car does look much better at night with the lighting effects. But I feel much more relaxed in the Nautilus with the smoother surfacing. All the complains about the black plastic center console don't really mention how nice the surfaces feel and shape to the design. The switchgear in the Corsair however is indeed nicer, especially the transmission selector. The Aviator and Navigator do a much better job overall with that design language with the higher-grade materials. I will say I don't really like the Lincoln exclusive stalks, they look nicer perhaps, but the previous Ford design was more functional, especially with the rear-wiper switch. The new design has a sliding switch instead of a rocker which I find clumsy to operate without moving the stalk unintentionally. Weirdly they don't feel higher quality at all.
