  1. Yes, because that 20 extra horsepower will be critical in the hypothetical street races discussed over a few beers. If anything, those extra horses become even more critical as more beers are consumed during the discussion.

  2. Hyundai does sell H1 in some markets in Europe but not in a serious way. They are also not selling their large fullsize H350 vans which is kind of curious because it is assembled in Turkey by Karsan and was designed to compete with Euro fullsize vans.

  3. Sorry, what I’m referring to is the dual lcd screens in the IP. I believe it was first included in the 2011 edge. It is currently on the ranger, fusion, and edge. I usually Try to keep vehicles for 10 years, so that would mean if I bought a new edge today, by the time I trade it in in 10 yrs, the IP would have been the same design/tech as a 20 yr old vehicle.

  4. Going back to the original subject, the concern about the number of utilities and crossovers on the market seems to forget that’s what most buyers want now and manufacturers offering lots of choices is part of that - all the unnecessary vehicle duplication Mulally used to frown upon is exactly what’s needed today. whatever step Ford takes with Edge also affects Nautilus as well, I don’t think scrapping Edge for dedicated BEVs in the midsized market is all that smart, especially if they start up around $50k. How about we see sales depth of MME first, it could be a great vehicle that sees sales drop off after the first 12 months.

  5. Ford has something up their sleeve which they will reveal after the unifor contract is done. Whether it is to screw us over or invest in Oakville again. I’m not under the impression my plant is in jeopardy but who the hell knows. Nobody knows anything at this plant, only rumors. Word is there is nothing allocated to Oakville after 2023 from our union leadership at local 707 unifor. I’m not surprised, also I really question if they will build all future Lincoln nautilus in China. Why the hell would they do that?? Build in China for China. Kinda makes me sick that all these companies just want to invest so much over there. I get the whole globalization BS.

  6. Love our '18 Edge SEL. The lease is up next year, we are considering buying it out. My wife is waiting to see if the Bronco rides decent enough to move to that or just keep the Edge.

  7. Ford really should have used the Export Edge/MKX dashboard IP when they updated the vehicle for 2019. It would have upgraded the look for people that had older Edge models.

  8. its got the tremec from the GT350 I believe....I think this looks great, but disappointed at no shaker hood...and seriously...if the choice was between this and the GT350...to me that's a loos for the Mach....NO replacement for that glorious engine...

  9. I'll second that. My Edge is my 5th Ford and the build quality is perfect. Best of the 5 Fords by far.

  10. Well basically sound like PP2 with coolers and Bullitt engine. Was hoping for another 20hp and the tremec from the GT350. Kinda weak in my opinion vs what they could have done and still have had a nice gap between GT500.

  11. the edge also looks old. I know they did a refresh recently, but not much has changed on the interior. It still has the old my ford touch screens. I had a 2013 fusion and when I was looking for a new car, I ruled out the edge because I didn’t want almost the same interior as my 7 year old fusion. Once it gets redesigned, I’m sure it will be back on a lot of people’s lists.

  12. Well, it’s alright. Better looking than the outgoing model.

  13. You need to provide some documentation for that assertion - no offense intended. I would have never guessed Edge is number one in its segment.

  14. You can also argue that the auto world is oversaturated with CUV's and SUV's. How many does a manufacturer need? We're still looking at buying a new vehicle sometime this year or next and have it narrowed down to an Escape PHEV or an Explorer (or maybe one of the Bronco(s). We never considered the Edge.

  15. To me that isn’t a very extensive lineup. I feel like they need as many vehicles as they can get. Using Hyundai as an example, they have seven SUVs including the Kona Electric, which is kind of a duplicate but looks a bit different. If you add the Sonata and Elantra to the mix they have nine passenger vehicles to Ford’s soon to be seven or six if they dumped Edge.

  16. Amen brother. It's a shame this is even a question, you guys build great products. I love my Flex. Best fit and finish of any Ford I've ever owned. Period.

  17. Sure, you can have socialism in business. That's what chicken tax is in the US - protection and corp wellfare for some but we are going off topic. I think PSA is going to argue that the impending Ford-VW alliance makes their FCA acquisition not anti-competitive. That may or may not get a sympathetic ear. The fallback position is probably what I described... Getting Opel out of van business and propping up Toyota as a marginal sock puppet in the van business. The big unknown is whether Hyundai will make a big push to join the van market in Europe. They are the only non-luxury volume brand manufacturer in the EU that is not actively involved in the commercial van business.

  18. Hard to do HEV and PHEV on a dedicated BEV platform. I still think the BEVs will be low volume for a few years. It would be short sighted to only do midsized 2 row BEVs at this point. Do both and let the market dictate which way to go when.

  19. You can see by the fact that there is so much sharing of the same van between different manufacturers that vans in Europe are fast becoming a commodity. This probably means profits are small and will continue to diminish, making consolidations even more likely. Not a good market to be in.

  20. Ford / VW / Peugeot / Citroen / Fiat / Opel / Renuault / Daimler Transit Courier / None / Bipper / Nemo /Fiorino / None / None / None Transit Connect / Caddy / Partner / Berlingo / Doblo / Combo / Kangoo / Citan Transit Custom / Transporter / Expert / Jumpy / Talento / Vivaro / Trafic / Vito (Metris) Transit / Crafter / Boxer / Jumper / Ducato / Movano / Master / Sprinter Bipper, Nemo, Fiorino are identical B-vans produced by FCA and rebadged as Peugeot and Citroen. Partner, Berlingo, Combo are identical C-vans produced by PSA for its 3 brands. Kangoo and Citan are identical C-vans produced by Renault and rebadged as Mercedes. Expert, Jumpy, and Vivaro are identical D-vans produced by PSA for its 3 brands. Talento and Trafic are identical D-vans produced by Renault and rebadged as Fiat. Boxer, Jumper, and Ducato are identical fullsize vans produced by FCA-PSA joint venture and rebadged (also as Ram Promaster) Master and Movano are identical fullsize vans produced by Renault and rebadged as Opel (probably won't last no Opel is part of PSA). Ford is currently the largest van seller in Europe but with GM selling out to PSA and now PSA and FCA merging, the van market in Europe is consolidating very fast in favor or PSA. So with Ford and VW now paired up, the van market in Europe is going to be divided into 2 big players and will probably force Renault and Daimler to join forces. 1 Ford-VW 2 PSA 3 Renault-Daimler
