  1. Maybe it’s time to call California’s bluff and just withdraw from that market.

  3. Yes, Ford did what it had to do....made it more handsome, created a much better interior, rivaled the Ram touchscreen in horizontal fashion for safety sake, added a lot of cool features, and for the most part did its homework in comprehensive way. Btw, those new wheels with black inserts look great. Ford will easily keep its current customers and get some conquest sales to boot. Silverado especially should be worried.

  4. No, what they did was instead of being able to run the line at speeds they were able to during a Focus production they slowed it down to about half the speed it's capable of so the robots could apply extra paint where needed. It also helped that Body Shop can't run at the old speed right now because one line can't keep up which won't be a problem when Bronco arrives, it won't need to keep up with the rest of the line.

  5. Texas State Fair (If held) is later this year and they could release the Raptor there. They have never released the Raptor with the F-150 so that does not surprise me. Expy/Nav go under the knife next year. They get the PowerBoost engine I think. Chevy screwed the pooch by attempting to put the Camaro face on everything. It doesn't work. Not to mention the interior, which has been an issue since forever. About the "Body didn't change enough argument." The Super Duty body went 17 years with the same basic body while GM and Dodge went through 3 bodies each. And Ford gained market share in the segment. Though the cabin space and windows are the same, the sheetmetal has been changed and it looks good to me. Hopeful of what this shows us for the both the next Super Duty and Ranger. And, of course, the Maverick as well.

  6. Dodge has an old lineup. Challenger, Charger, Durango, Caravan and Journey haven't seen major upgrades in years. Generally, older models fare very well in these surveys. All the bugs have been worked out.

  7. If they stick with this, I see dealerships opening just across the NV and AZ state lines and a precipitous drop in new truck registrations in CA.

  8. Everyone messes up....everyone....and he was man enough to apologize. Think it was sincere and that is enough for me. I hate today's knee jerk environment where someone gets fired, loses their business, because a mistake was made. Good lesson for everyone. Also pretty cool that the public both supported them during Ford's launch and called them out on being un-professional.

  9. All of Ford's Mexican products spell good news for dealers, finally they are getting products that will attract buyers in decent volume. Now if only Ford Credit would start acting more aggressively with competitive finance, those hard working sales staff could complete a lot more deals.

  10. Can't California just break off and drop into the Pacific like so many people wish it would!!??

  11. Not trying to argue the point, but I recollect the OEMs saying that they prefer to be able to see regs years in advance in order to make their product plans and plans for investment. I could see where they might prefer (at least) knowing what the playing field will be through 2035 versus dealing with the unknown.

  12. Not enough of it to start production today, but enough of it is in place that the launch is on schedule. That's the best I can do.

  13. I can believe it. The Ranger model line is already the 3rd most profitable Ford nameplate globally.

  15. Better article: https://www.autoblog.com/2020/06/26/california-zero-emissions-trucks-mandate/ This is coming, California mandate or not. I believe in 20 years BEV trucks will be so superior to ICE trucks the market will naturally shift. Infrastructure will take some time but it is being worked on. The CARB timelines are not that unrealistic, they might have to be adjusted but I don't think by much. The market will drive this more than legislation will. BTW- Nevada is adopting CARB regulations.

  16. If it is NOT AWD, almost any FWD can be dollied as the front wheels are off the ground. On almost any AWD, dolly towing WILL damage the rear axle's coupler as they were not designed to operate with such a severe difference in front to rear axle speed. The issue with Fusion - it has a very low overhang on the front that may or may not be easy to get on/off the dolly, although there are different dollies available. Have seen some people damage the front facia/cooling module because of it. Test it on your tow rig with the car before you buy it to be sure. As for flat tow, there are still things that can go wrong. Have seen a lot of folks cause damage to many different kinds of transmissions that were supposedly rated for it.

  17. The EXACT same thing as the 1.5L, as we have been over several times on this thread: Cut passages vs drilled, I don't think anything else changed. Have seen a LOT of high mileage 2.0 Ecoboosts. Service the trans regularly and it should go a long way.

  18. Since the upgraded cooling passages will only be a positive for you, I would say your Escape should give you plenty of use after the repair is completed. I am hoping you get a 2020 Escape loaner for comparison review.

  20. This is basically a continuation of California's dominance regarding emissions standards which over the years were adopted by a number of other states (CA, CT, DE, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NY, OR, PA, RI, VT, WA) along with additional states (AZ, DC, ID, NH, NV, OH, VA, WV) being "Cross Border States" allowing vehicles to meet either the California or 50-state emissions standard. Expect there to be negotiations and litigation along the way until there's an agreement or ruling at some point down the road. In any event, it's doubtful that any manufacturer is going to abandon the California market rather than comply with this new proposal that will be enacted in some form. The CA market is just too big which will have an even bigger role should additional states adopt the same standard in the future. Future adventures to follow.

  22. Let's see payload amounts before we get excited about towing figures. Will the "generator" lead to conquest sales-a few-but many already have the little Hondas and won''t buy a new truck over leaving the Honda Generator at home. What will be interesting is to see the package that includes the generator capability-will it be more than a small Honda generator? I'm thinking yes.... The RAM still has the nicer interior IMHO.

  27. https://www.statista.com/statistics/272307/market-share-forecast-for-smartphone-operating-systems/ This is actually an excellent analogy. Apple was first in smart phones and quality mobil devices. Through inovative design and clever marketing they quickly created a loyal following that still thinks to this day that nothing else could possibly come close to competing with them... sound familiar? Many diehard Apple loyalists also believe their devices still have world dominance because they don't feel the need to look around and check out what the competition has accomplished slowly and steadily over the years. But... the world market share of Android devices produced by many companies to Apple devices produced by one company is now 87% Android to 13% Apple. The exact same thing will happen to Tesla but their loyalists will never know. Our first smart devices were all Apple too, but we decided to switch when Samsung got their act together and we're not going back anytime soon. My wife was issued a new Apple for her work phone and after having a Galaxy she hates using the iPhone. The Mach-E will take off when it's actually available and the virus thing is behind us... and soon after the floodgates will start opening with more BEV models from Ford and everyone else. Tesla will still thrive and rightly so, but some day their world market share will be closer to 13%... just like Apple. I'm not an Apple or Tesla hater and I really admire what Elon Musk has accomplished with all of his companies... he's just like Steve Jobs!

  29. Are you freaking serious? So your focusing so much negativity on a single report in from a dealership in CT with a product that is brand new and hasn't been released yet? Tesla is only successful because they zelots that own them that are willing to over look the issues they have with them. People are going to get tired of dealing with shit and move on to other options out there.

  34. Woah, man. Cool down. I have friends in a few fingers of the project, and I trust them. I share here what I can without getting anyone in trouble. My guys say truck program volume and scaling of certain tech assets was done in a way that is very advantageous for Ford, and that the GM emergency refresh will be trying to replicate many of these features without the availability of scaling throughout total truck volume. Is that better?

  35. The STX (blue one) has the best grille in my opinion, although I do like the lariat sport above too. Looks like led headlights are not standard. The stx doesn’t even appear to get the DRLs. The stance on this king ranch looks pretty good.

  38. I think the "Built Wild" tag for use with a Bronco campaign is fine. My favorite Ford campaign of all time was the "Have you driven a Ford lately?" campaign that was used in various versions for probably more years than any marketing campaign in the Company's history. There were times in the past 10 years that I thought it would have been have been perfectly appropriate to bring it back and a few of the Ford FDAF (Ford Dealer Advertising Fund) associations did use it on a regional basis. I believe that Chicago was one of the markets that used it. Every so many years, not often, Ford comes out with a corporate branding campaign that is excellent. Unfortunately, they run it frequently for a short period of time and then abandon it. The "Built Ford Proud" campaign is just such an example especially the spot with Bryan Cranston and the F-Series "East Bound and Down" spot. It's fine to run such a campaign in high frequency initially to make the desired impact but the expense and time to achieve the desired effect would be better served by then keeping the spot in rotation on a periodic basis to make the best use of the branding spot in rotation with the usual sales themed spots. With all the pandemic related PSA spots, etc. that we've been seeing these past few months... wouldn't it be nice to see a "feel good" spot like the Built Ford Proud "East Bound and Down" F-Series spot again? Just my thoughts and comments. So much for the marketing brilliance and execution of the appointed and anointed guy Farley!

  39. What people fail to realize is that without social distancing and the other precautions that were taken back in March the death rate would be a lot higher and more hospitals would have been overrun. I think it’s safe to open back up most businesses with precautions but that doesn’t mean this was just the flu.
