  1. Hi Kekparns. You have confused two very different functions. Auto Start/Stop and the Engine Safety Shutoff (EDIT -"Automatic Engine Shutdown") are two entirely different functions. Auto Start/Stop is a fuel saving feature which stops the engine temporarily when stopped at red lights etc., then restarts the engine when you press the accelerator. Its purpose is to save gas. You can temporarily turn it off with the Drivers Information Center. The Engine Shutoff (EDIT -"Automatic Engine Shutdown") feature is a safety feature that turns the engine off after it has been sitting idle for 30 minutes. Its purpose is to keep people from accidentally asphyxiating themselves (and others) by leaving the engine running when it should not be running (garages etc). It can not be permanently turned off and I believe you must be in the car to temporarily override it before the 30 minute time limit. Good luck.

  2. It seems to me as I remember, the Big 3 ended insourcing because they wanted to lower their costs. So they spun off thousands of union jobs into low wage companies like Delphi. Had nothing to do with quality, and all to do with shedding union jobs and costs. Not making judgement, only the way I remember it.

  3. Just picked up a 2019 MKT Reserve, 13000 miles. Really liking it so far, lots of features, very comfortable and powerful. Not a cookie cutter design, and seems to be pretty rare. You just don't see them on the road very much. This replaces a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica that we bought new. That gave us great service for 15 years, I am hoping this MKT serves us as well. Have not owned a Ford product since my '69 Mustang way back when, nice to have one back in the garage.

  4. Looks like 30 minutes (just above the page number). HRG Lincoln auto stop.pdf Coincidentally, the same exact language, even on the same page, is used in the 2016 MKX owners manual. 2016 MKX auto shutdown.pdf

  6. I fixed that for you. As competition increases for Tesla, their pricing will be under intense scrutiny. I mean unless they can be like Porsche and just charge whatever they feel like and people will still buy (highly doubt it), pricing is going to be an issue. Building it yourself makes no sense in the grand scheme of things when mass producing vehicles. I am not saying for all things but for a lot of systems/parts. Also, I would expect the supplier build quality to be a bit better too!

  7. You’re not factoring in Ranger to that though.

  8. We will be running 2 10 hour shifts 5 days a week with occasional mandatory Saturday production and maybe a voluntary Sunday here or there. I don't know what the final line speed will be but right now I think they're at about 55 an hour or somewhere around there.

  9. That is hilarious. You think building 200k widgets in house at multiple gigafactories is cheaper than a 3rd party building tens of millions of the same thing in one location? There are advantages to building your own stuff but none of them are financial, short term or long term. Sometimes the old ways are the old ways because they’re best not because they’re old. If Tesla needs to expand parts production they have to spend capital. When Ford needs more seats they call Johnson Controls and order more seats and Johnson Controls invests the capital to expand production if necessary and Ford isn’t carrying that investment overhead. And anyone who manages corporate budgets understands the difference.

  10. Does it really matter when a vehicle debuts? The customer base stays the same. If you lose some early buyers due to delays there will be new buyers later who had to wait anyway. It’s not going to make a difference to Ford.

  11. I agree. Tesla leads the world I BEV's and everyone else is playing catchup. Where I live in Central Florida, I can see his Falcon rockets climb into the sky from my front lawn on a clear day. The superior technology of his companies are extraordinary. I don't own the stock and hate the dash board and front end of the Models Y and 3, but you have to give them their due. I'm not even a fan of Musk as a person with his ignorant statements, but his companies are visionary and revolutionary. Big Boeing can't touch him in aerospace and big auto can't touch him in electric vehicles.

  13. I see a lot of "Tesla builds it's own batteries" which is a half-truth. Tesla assembles the battery packs and modules, but they buy every cell from a primary manufacturer. Panasonic currently manufactures cells for Tesla in the Nevada production facility but otherwise they would suffer the same constraints if LG-Chem, Sony, Sanyo, and Panasonic all decided to dedicate all their other production to higher paying customers. In the end as supply is constrained, prices will rise and those willing to pay will win.

  14. Yeah, that's true - there won't be a 100% conversion rate for reservations, but I still expect it to be high - at least 75% I think. A big question too - many people reserved 2 - some at different dealers - so in those cases, 1 is almost sure to be cancelled.

  15. Concur with fuzzymoomoo, I would guess that after subtracting the 7000 First Eddition models from the total production capability, the number of other trims produced the first model year would just be based on whatever trims have reservations that convert to actual orders.

  16. It depends on how many people follow through with their reservations and convert it to an actual order. Someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread and I agree I think there's going to be a fair number of people that will get sticker shock and balk at placing an order. We saw it happen a little bit with Ranger and Explorer.

  17. I feel like if what they're saying is true about filling all reservations before stock units, it sounds like there won't be any for a year and a half at least.

  18. Ford could probably sell 100,000 hybrid, plugin Escapes/year, but will have to settle for 25,000 or so because of a skimpy battery supply chain after 15 years of hybrid experience. Ditto for MachE. VW/Ford recently tried to hook up with an Asian battery company and it didn't work out. Lots of areas of the world are going to demand no fossil fuel engines and only Tesla makes it's own batteries. Everyone else is supply constrained. Probably number one reason for Tesla's sky high stock price. That and their superior software.

  19. Hi BL. ?? No, I have not seen the "...litany of posts he has regarding this vehicle". I do not even know what "this vehicle" is, what model year etc. (obviously). Was there something wrong with me asking questions in an effort to help the OP with the question he asked? Did anything I wrote contradict or even mention what Emilner wrote? ? And yes, while this is the Navigator sub-forum, we all know that doesn't necessarily mean anything, as people post in the wrong sub-forums all the time (you did nothing wrong vipersinu2). Information is key. vipersinu2 may very well have a lemon, but I have no idea about that. He only asked about a SYNC/Bluetooth issue, so that is what I was trying to help with. If he asks about how to proceed with a Lemon Law buyback, I will then try to help with that too. In the meantime, my limited brain power works with one issue at a time. Hope that makes the purpose of my reply clearer BL. Good luck. ?

  20. She's been really good to us. We're making the 1,000 mile trek south to Florida tonight and this is the first road trip in ages that we won't be taking her. My wife's new Explorer has more creature comforts, but cruising long distances in the Flex is the easiest of any car I've owned.
