  1. Maybe they'll introduce something midsize....I like the name Nautilus. If they want to get adventurous, they could make a compact one and name it Corsair! Oh wait!

  2. Exactly so and why I don't see the point with a $20k starting price for the Maverick pickup, it should stand on its own merits as a different type of vehicle for more choice and not to revisit the last Ranger as just cheap transport.

  3. Similar to the "cheap" "hard" plastic comments. The plastics in my Escape are spongy, not hard. And the top of the door sills and console are soft touch. Now the diamond looking door cards could be better, and some of the switch gear could look a little better, but doesn't particularly bother me. Only one thing annoys me...the one touch down, but NOT up power window on a $34,000 vehicle. I'll give Ford a pass on lack of auto dimming mirror and fog lights, but not this. Similar priced Rav, Crv, and even lower priced Crosstrek include fog lights, auto dimming mirror, and outside mirror turn signals along with one touch up and down window. I would argue all of these features are for safety, not comfort and should be included on $30,000+ vehicle.

  5. If it's not body on frame, good luck. Now maybe Ford can push the Mustang brand with the Mach E and other variations. Also, with Ford being dominant with police vehicles, Explorer should keep gaining traction. Everything else is problematic at best. Don't know where Lincoln is going either with down to 4 vehicles by end of year and no vehicle selling more than 35,000 vehicles/year. Ford isn't saying anything about future Lincoln vehicles other than maybe Nautilus maybe coming to an end. Seems to me Cadillac and Lincoln are nothing more than money pits. Mulally wanted to get rid of Lincoln. GM has invested many billions in Cadillac and doesn't have much to show other than Escalade. And Korea does their small CUV's. You have to wonder how long both Ford and GM can try to compete against the Germans and Lexus and keep losing when you have greater needs.

  6. Maybe, maybe not. One the one hand, Ford's CUV nameplates have a better reputation than their former sedans did. On the other, Bloomberg wrote an article a couple years ago titled "Detroit Is Losing More Ground in Crossovers". bzcat created a thread on this.

  7. You're the only one confused. It's not worth what it would cost Ford to re-enter the minivan segment with a competitive vehicle. Just like it's not worth it for the Koreans or Honda to try to enter the full sized truck and commercial van market. Focus and Fusion were killed to make way for new vehicles not because they couldn't sell them. And you can bet that the new "affordable vehicles" will be able to generate significantly more product than the old Focus and Fusion. It's not about individual products - it's about what you do with your current resources and your current market positions. What makes sense for one automaker probably won't work for others. That's why I keep reminding you that the replacement for Fusion is Bronco Sport and Maverick, because that's how Ford resources were shifted around. Same for Focus giving way to Ranger and Bronco.

  9. I doubt it. That's what STX is for. Retail grade package for XL. You probably have to have a fleet number to order an Expedition XL without STX.

  10. 3 cylinder is probably cheaper to produce vs. 4 (one less cylinder wall = less metal = lower costs) but not the main reason. Ford's relatively large sales footprint in Europe (compare to Honda or Toyota) probably influenced its powertrain decision a lot more than a simple cost decision. The 3 cylinder engines have lower CO2 output and thus have lower annual tax burden in countries that have carbon tax. It's definitely a selling point in Europe.

  11. It's just an example of the information regarding the dealership ordering and scheduling process for vehicle lines that are part of the newer WBDO scheduling process and the related wholesale commitment.

  12. I thought we might try to buy something by the end of the year, but I think my wife wants to wait a little longer. I’d be interested in a PHEV version of the Corsair.

  13. After Windstar/Freestar were finally killed off The word "minivan" was never even whispered in the halls at Ford ! Even today, the passenger version of the Transit and Transit Connect are NOT called minivans.

  15. I've driven a 3 cylinder Escape and didn't not experience this "Boominess and vibration" they're talking about.

  16. Yes sir. Also, Ford vehicles with FordPass Connect support Key by Amazon, which is a service in which Amazon will deliver packages to your car or truck. My family uses this for our landscaping business, Amazon puts packages we order right into the cab of our 2019 Ranger. It's super easy and convenient.

  19. Don't underestimate Ford loyalists (sheeple). For us, getting another Ford product is kind of like S&M. It may have hurt previously, but you have to go back for more!

  21. Problem is wherever they go, they turn it into California: v2, v3, v4...you get the picture. Note to Californians and New Yorkers: When you leave your congested traffic, insanely high taxes, sanctuary cities, open borders, safe injection sites, free range homeless 'camping', and ridiculous, invasive strangling rules/regulations for a better place, PLEASE remember why you left when voting in your new state.

  22. its absolutely idiotic...my wife works for the DMV...she was recently handed a 10 % pay cut, 2 days mandated furloughs and no overtime...apparently the cutbacks were to assist in bolstering California's deficit. Newsome himself didn't take the pay cut apparently. I personally think they would have been better off launching a full blown audit to address misappropriation of funds into such questionable pet projects as Bullet trains to no where, Sanctuary cities, pandering to Illegal immigrants, a fleet of unused BMW I3's, etc etc ...list is long. Perhaps those funds could have been better utilized to bolster first responders regarding wildfire issues, addressing an antiquated electrical grid to avoid rolling blackouts during the yearly heat wave, let alone necessary PPEs if theres ever a pandemic...I literally feel like banging my head against a brick wall sometimes...

  24. California is the poster child for making stupid decisions just because it makes them feel better.

  25. It's not a matter of being a Luddite, it's an issue of improperly allocating resources. How in the hell does the California government think they're magically going to be able to keep up with this extra electrical demand when they can't even do it now and their problems are getting worse with no viable plan to fix it?

  27. The state that can't generate enough electricity for home use is going to mandate that new vehicles use electricity. That makes sense. Or is the latter designed as a distraction from the former...?

  28. And I'm not saying we can't do better environmentally (cleaner air, water, etc is good for everyone), but the demands and prohibitive regulations requiring EVs for everything in 15 years when they're already having problems NOW with the power grid just seem out of touch (but I guess it is California we're talking about). You can have a goal, sure, but.....

  29. I reviewed the above posts-did anybody mention the "rolling brownouts" in the summertime in California due to high air conditioning use? Pair that with everyone plugging in their Ev's.................
