  2. Think I'm sold on a Black Diamond, Area 51, mid-package, 2.7L, and a few add-on options. Looking forward to driving one before I make final decision.

  3. whoa whoa a tap in every room of this hotel? That sounds amazing. Not to mention a drunken mess but amazing. Going to need to figure out a schedule to see the wife and kids because I’m going to that hotel

  4. https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle/lincoln/aviator-4-door-suv/2020 Ford didn't wait for the 2021 model to make proper modifications... they fixed both the 2020 model Aviator and Explorer way back in May and had them retested! And that original subpar rating would 'possibly' cause a left foot injury in one test... so I'm not losing any sleep over mine being built well before May!

  5. Which is smart. No future dividends or stock value if the company goes out of business.

  6. Does that really surprise you? It's the ultimate self fulfilling prophecy. Customers: WE WANT MANUALS! OEM: Here you go (available in base models only) Nobody buys them OEM discontinues manuals Customers: What happened to the manuals?! OEM Nobody bought them! Customers: But it was base model only OEM: Well if people bought them we could offer them in higher trim levels... *rinse, repeat*

  8. You got that right. Wagons are generally uglier than crossovers. You keep saying it's "image" but the truth is people simply like certain styles of vehicles better than others. And you're completely overlooking the height issue. Crossovers are much easier for entry and exit and have a higher seating position. Yet they still offer car-like ride quality and as many if not more amenities than sedans. And similar fuel economy. In the past you had to give up a lot to drive a SUV. CUVs don't have those downsides.

  9. I fully expect the dividend to come back soon. If earnings are well enough, maybe even a special as they've done in the past.

  10. I had every intention of this being a long-term hold, but once they dropped the fairly decent dividend, I would have earned more keeping my $$$$$ in my checking account, that pay's .01% interest. HRG

  11. Your the first person to ever mention that. The problem with your hypothesis is none of them offered AWD.

  12. Of course some people will pop the $112,500 for this vehicle. Allow me to hop on my soapbox, but I view this as a wasted opportunity. Why did GM management decide to engineer a designer BEV when they could have spent the same time and money developing something more useful, like a BEV Silverado priced in the mid-$50,000 range. Think about it, in the time it took to develop this BEV Hummer, they could have developed a BEV Silverado that would have beat Ford to the market by two years and also come in before the Tesla Cyber truck. GM could have owned the BEV pickup market. BTW, I’d be just as critical if Ford developed a BEV toy-for-the-rich. That’d be a slap in the face to the legacy of a company known for the Model T.

  13. If you think people won't pay $112k for this truck, you are also delusional. People pay $100k+ for luxury vehicles all day and everyday. At $112k fully loaded, Hummer is not particularly expensive in the context of its competitors. Really, not even close when Ranger Rover starts at $92k and Mercedes G-wagen starts at $130k. I still don't get the indignation about the price in this thread. It's prices well below the mid point of what high end SUVs goes for now days. The eventual price range of $80k to $100k basically mirrors GM's own Escalade... which GM has no problem selling as is. https://www.cadillac.com/suvs/escalade/esv/build-and-price/trim https://www.cadillac.com/suvs/escalade/build-and-price/trim/ Have some objectivity people. Don't be like the butt hurt Wrangler guys putting down Bronco for no reason.

  14. Good points AGR sir, but aren't modern day crossovers an evolution of the AMC Eagle that came out over 40 years ago? The current batch of crossovers represent the "same old, same old" too. None of them are truly distinctive.

  15. For as long as they've been showing TRX concepts, you woulda thunk this would have been out as soon as the latest gen had arrived.

  16. They were planning for the worst, therefore the suspension of the dividend. The exact date doesn't really matter...they could see what was coming and decided to be proactive.

  17. Wow, that Jalopnik article is pure trash. Doesn't like the touchscreen because it can get dusty? Whatta friggin' marooooon. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison-test/a34429175/2021-ram-1500-trx-vs-2020-ford-f-150-raptor-supercrew/ Car and Driver puts the TRX ahead of the current Raptor. (of course with a new one on the horizon, that could change very soon).

  18. Just a guess on my part, but I don't see Ford resuming its dividend until they are profitable for several quarters. Maybe early 2022? Again, just s guess.

  19. Covid shutdown hit happened mostly during the second quarter. There was only like 2 weeks left in the first quarter when it started.
    1 point
  20. There will be no dividend until Covid is under control, and that won't happen until at least sometime next year or even later. In the meantime, expect more shutdowns because of excessive absenteeism as winter kicks in.

  21. Man Jalopnik has fallen pretty far. It's hard to find anything they publish that isn't written with a clear agenda anymore.

  22. So, as I perused their website, I noticed one of the gentlemen in a photo had done several YouTube videos. He had one describing all the Black Label benefits, which maybe his dealership, Planet Lincoln, is, ironically, the only one on the planet to actually provide a good Lincoln ownership experience. Whew, that was a mouthful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm_QHLKUjY0

  23. Wow! I worked for DalFort Aviation from late 1997-200 as a fueler. We had the contract to fuel the Legend DC-9 aircraft and we frequently went to the old Braniff hangar to defuel aircraft in heavy maintenance checks.
    1 point
  24. Yes sir Black Label you are correct! Planet Lincoln's new dealership facility is at 7767 Lemmon, right next to where the Legend executive terminal used to be. The rest of the Braniff base at Love Field has been redeveloped too.

  25. And yet, when I point out Subaru Outback has higher ground clearance and higher step-in height/seating position than the standard AWD Jeep Grand Cherokee, most of you still say that is a wagon. What you proposed are meaningless distinctions. What makes a CUV is marketing. Take Hyundai Kona and Kia Soul for example... they are fraternal twins - same platform, same drivetrain, developed together. They have the same ground clearance and same dimensions except Soul is actually a little taller than Kona. But Soul is a legacy nameplate that was originally launched as a hatchback (think back to the hamster ads!) so most people continue to think of it has a funky hatchback. Kona is a new nameplate that was launched as a CUV despite being physically lower than Soul so people think it is a CUV.

  27. I may just do my own oil change today before I drive down there tomorrow, or if I think about it more, I may just set up a time at Hooks on Tuesday to check out the place, anyway. Who knows, maybe we will move back down there someday.

  28. @Rperez, I just called Hooks. Asked about an oil change Monday while I have a few hours. First available was Tuesday afternoon. Asked about a car wash. He said maybe Monday afternoon he could fit me in. Lincoln dealers just suck. Oh well. Edit: As much as FW has grown, I'm shocked there is only one Lincoln dealer there.

  29. Without some type of limited slip or locking diff your 2wd is just a 1wd. Meaning if just one of the rear wheels end up in mud or something slick you’re STUCK. This happened to me with my first Ranger - couldn’t get out of the side yard. Even with 4wd if you drop one side into ice or mud or wet grass you’re toast. I rarely need it but I refuse to buy anything without a locker.
    1 point
  30. You really only need the locking diff if you are going to do some serious off-roading. The lockable diff will automatically unlock at (I think) 25 MPH if it's the same as my Super Duty. It's not for use on the highway or at highway speed. It's an actual locker and not limited slip, so you don't want it locked on pavement.

  31. Build and price didn’t make decisions any easier lol. $45k or under is where I want to be. Priced out a black diamond and big bend nicely equipped right around that amount. Guess I’m gonna have to see them in person before I can make a final decision. Black diamond 4 dr - 2.3L - auto - mid package - mic roof - sound deadening - optional wheels - brush guard - tow $44,980 big bend 4 dr - 2.7L - auto - mid - mic roof - sound deadening - roof rails - modular bumper - brush guard - signature lights - aux switches - tow $45,030

  32. I am content with the performance even though there's no dividend right now (but really would like to see it come back since the price has almost rebounded to pre-COVID levels). As noted earlier in the thread, I bought around a 100 shares (just enough to get x-plan back) when it dropped earlier this year. Unfortunately, I also bought in around 2 bucks higher than it eventually cratered to in the end, but still pretty happy with the strength it came back with.

  36. Great post and glad to see some meaningful contribution!! Not sure when the last time we've had 6 plus pages on a competitive product on this forum so it that regards, it must mean something. Lot's of good points made and keep in mind, this is one vehicle of many that will GM has coming out the next few years, including a BEV Silverado/Sierra. This race won't be won in a day or a year or two and hard to say who the winners/losers will be, but love seeing the market evolve. I grew up with my family all employed by GM but in my blood, always been a Ford guy. I've owned or had corporate vehicles from both makes but not a GM guy at all. But love the industry and respect every OEM, including Tesla (which is damn hard to admit) but to say this vehicle is a loser or they are stupid to make this vehicle is very short sighted. Thankfully-we aren't the final verdict, but the market always is. On a lighter note, I was over in Fort Myers past few days working and around the corner from a customer visit, I came across a Roush facility and they had 2 Bronco Sports, 3 new F150's, a Mustang MachE and a new Kia Sorento-Bronco Sport looked great and the 150 has a way different look than the current version. Mustang MachE looks great as well:)

  37. My memory is fading, but I'm thinking the AMC Eagle beat the AWD versions of these vehicles by a few years. Plus the Eagle was a true raised crossover from an existing platform. I believe the Autotrader article above is correct on this one...

  38. I had a 13 Acura MDX Advance package that I loved, but it required premium and I was only getting 15-16 mpg. Back then gas was nearly $5 a gallon, so I said screw it and bought a Raptor because the gas mileage was about the same. I had always loved the look of them on the road. At the time I was also looking at the Lexus LX570, but you could nearly buy two Raptors for the price of one LX570 and the Raptor is SO much more comfortable and sporty to drive compared to the Lexus. People don’t realize how comfortable Raptors are on the road. The off-road suspension and big tires make the truck drive like a dream. No one really knew that the Raptors would hold their value so well, so I just got lucky buying when I did. Moreover, I had very little knowledge in off-roading, but have became an avid off-roader throughout the years and made great friends within the Raptor community. I have traveled all across North America in a Raptor: from the Arctic Circle in Alaska and Western Canada to Cabo in Baja California. Once I found out how well they held their value, it made sense just to trade them in for a new one rather than spending the money to replace the shocks, tires, and so on every couple of years. The big reason I want to sell my Raptor is because I can’t use it the way I would like to being stuck in Florida. I use to live out West, but I will be here for at least another year and a half. And the Southeast does not have the same type of off-roading that you have out West. So the Aviator checks all the boxes as far as what I would want if I were to get rid of my Raptor. Competition is great for the consumer. But I don’t see the TRX affecting the Raptors value. Fiat SRT products depreciate horribly—that doesn’t happen with Raptors. Also, the current Raptor was built/designed in 15-16. So the TRX is 4-5 years newer and the only definite thing it is better at is in HP and TQ. We’ll have to wait and see what Ford does with the Gen 3 Raptor.

  40. Just curious... are you into serious offroading with your Raptor or are you more into how it looks and the resale value? In addition to being part of Ford Performance, I think another reason Raptors hold their value so well is its uniqueness. But that may change with competition from the Ram TRX.

  41. The crossovers' ancestors are the Japanese "tall wagons" of the 1980s, not the AMC Eagle. This includes the Toyota Tercel Wagon, Honda Civic Wagon, Nissan Stanza Wagon/Axxess, and Mitsubishi err Dodge Colt Vista. The Civic Wagon in particular shares many styling cues with the original CR-V.

  42. MIC is a plastic roof with the color moulded into the material... they aren't painted. They're the base roof on the 2door and thr less expensive optional hard top on tgr 4door. The black / white / body color roofs will be painted, and will have the "modular" pop out rear windows.

  43. Well hey, I'll be "celebrity" bartending there on Friday, December 4th, as they're hosting a fundraising night for the HS Drumline I teach. If anyone is looking to visit beautiful Central Ohio....? Epoxy floors are on the list... but not until the driveway and garage floor are torn up and re-poured. Ugh.
