  1. Yet in the 70s the hysterical, insane rhetoric was immense global cooling. These people have been full of it for 50+ years

  5. Former President Obama bought a multi million dollar spread on the ocean in Martha’s Vineyard back in 2019. You’d think a guy that had been telling us for 8 years that global warming was some kind of urgent catastrophe with sea levels rising faster then ever and that we needed to spend billions of dollars to correct, he’d be a little more hesitant to buy property right on the ocean.

  7. I’m still waiting for islands to disappear And don’t talk about vehicles until you start re-foresting the planet and replacing all the trees that have been cut down the last 50 years.

  8. Yeah I really have a hard time caring. One group says we're all doomed in 10 or less years and another says everything is fine, nothing to see here. In reality the truth is somewhere in the middle but nobody talks about that.

  9. I don't disagree with this, but what you suggest is a non-starter for those who live in rural areas. Driving long distances is a fact of life and having the ability to charge on the road is a must.

  10. Reforestation is indeed very important. For example, this year we had major fires in Northern Brazil and this strongly affected the rain regime in the whole country, leading to all time records for high temperatures. Regarding the natural periodicity of the Earth's climate, this argument is marginally correct. Just like day/night and seasons phenomena, there is also something called precession of the Equinoxes (GM knows this stuff apparently lol). However this less popular occurence completes a cycle in roughly 26 thousand years (and helps explain Ice Age and ancient rain forests in Northern Africa). Therefore, in anyone's lifetime these natural changes are negligible; the climate change we observe (more recently) in the span of a few decades are not associated to well established geophysical effects. Sorry if too boring or too off topic.

  11. Yeah, don't like that at all. I can guarantee my wife will not go for that for the new lease. Which may point her to the Nautilus since judging by the spy pics in this thread, it retains the physical HVAC controls.

  12. And yet vehicle emission control began in the US decades before Europe started taking the moral high ground. Back then, the focus may have been on controlling smog but at least they did something about it. And CAFE fuel economy regulations meant that the amount of fuel being consumed case reduced as far fleet averages went from 13 mpg to 26 mpg. If anything, a couple of gasoline shortages did more to move the needle than climate experts, they were different times, can't look with 2020 eyes.

  13. Hmmm, What did they blame 'Climate Change' on 100 million years ago? Apparently, the climate has been changing since the beginning of time! https://dinoridge.org/explore-dinosaur-ridge/dinosaur-ridge-trail/

  14. Correct. 8F35 for the 2.0L and 8F57 for the ST. i wonder if they changed the 8F57 from 8 to 7 gears. The ST guys complained a lot about 2 of the gears being too close together.

  15. BWAHAHAHAHA....troll...man oh man, that's POTW there...how old are you, seriously?..Im not the one getting their Knickers in a twist over a car they aren't purchasing till after the first year...that's 18 months away.....plenty of time for change...and X plan will probably be in place by then. And if you look at the pricing matrix I shared there really insignificant savings, they range between a few hundred to just over $2k for the range topper...in the big picture, on a car that's literally sold out before actual production, that's really not that much, compared with the savings avail on say an F150. I think anyone that cries foul and has a reservation, that doesn't buy a vehicle because they cant save an average of most likely $800 is cutting off their nose to spite their face...that equates to maybe, maybe $18 a month. But HAH...I showed Ford didn't I....ahem. Trolling..absolutely not...just you and I are wired completely different ways ...

  17. Cyberdman, Picked up the new truck on Friday 10-16! Can't believe how well an F-350 rides these days. Probably won't get to tow much with it 'till next season, but no question that it will tow with authority. Thanks for your help in keeping tabs on the production process. Much appreciated. Dan

  18. I have had boost gauges on my MKS and Continental. Punch the throttle at any speed and you have boost faster than you can say "boost." When tuning my Continental, datalogs clearly showed a lag between accelerator movement and the throttle body opening....which is what many think is turbo lag. Even though it was barely noticeable, we tuned that out.

  19. Automakers building their own fast chargers is ridiculous. Did Ford build their own gas stations in 1920?

  21. Issues with the luxury makes that are having difficulty selling BEV. These automakers are still promoting ICE powered vehicles that compete with their BEV With the exception of Audi and Porsche's parent company, no commitment to building fast charging infrastructure No pickup trucks Tesla is far ahead of the incumbent automakers with BEV because their mission goes far beyond selling motor vehicles. With Hummer, GM has a brand (sub-brand actually) that's BEV only, so that should help. However, GM still lacks commitment to building fast charging infrastructure, instead relying on third parties for that.

  23. Carbon and Fuel Economy are different. Trump cancelled the harder fuel economy rules that were being reviewed and then Obama signed in lame duck. (GM and FCA lobbied hard for them to be removed) so they can just buy the FE Tesla credits. The EU emission requirements are a whole other animal as EU has regulated on tax of fuel and now is doing the CO2 which is why FCA buys the credits for the EU market and GM was like peace out. Eliminating the ability to purchase credits is currently proposed in CA in committee but no action on it. The EU might eliminate the ability to purchase the credits, but they also do a lot with taxes as well so if you eliminate the ability to purchase company cars (this is the way a lot of Europeans get a vehicle) or tax them based on emissions when they enter cities (or even if they are allowed to enter the city) you force it in another way.

  25. JP, You nailed it. Guy can afford it and let's say he runs 15,000 miles a year. Its peanuts to him. And like I said, this guy is a high end builder selling big 7 figure houses. The 7.3 was a plain jane white cab with painted disc wheels. the 750 was a good looking truck-marketing 101.

  27. I have been retired for 13+ years, so things may have changed (but I doubt it). You had better be a good talker and hope your supervisor will "go to bat" for you with the department manager. Usually it takes an "outstanding" to get a larger raise. (Flip Side - I think it was during the Nasser era, when it was decreed that 10% of the salaried work force should be classified as "below average". They would not get raises and unless their performance increased the following year they would face dismissal. I got tagged. When I asked the boss specifically why I was given a below average rating I was told, "I had to pick someone, so I picked you", probably because he knew I really liked my job. That gives you such a nice warm feeling.) Sadly, you may NEVER get past "midpoint". Some people have people are just born with "the silver spoon in their mouth" (or are good brown nosers) and others are not. Another "story". Female who started working for Ford in her early 40s. Quickly made it up to a Grade 8. Already had one Masters (Mathematics) but went back and got a second (special one, designed for Ford, through Wayne State). Took "extra" internal training. Volunteered for various "task forces". Always got "above average" reviews. She was bucking for an LL6, but by the time she was in her 50s, she realized that hey age was against her. Maybe it was because she did not play golf with the "good old boys".

  28. with every manufacturer these days dumping boring “green” vehicles into the market it’s nice to see a manufacturer not only go the other direction but see amazing success while doing it. Maybe there is hope for the future.

  30. Yeah FCA really screwed themselves with the timing of that didn't they? Should have made this 2 years ago when they knew a new Raptor was a few years away. Instead they gave Ford a jump on reclaiming the crown.
