  1. Finally, some good news for Ford and Lincoln in China, especially in the 4th quarter. ----------------------- "Ford Motor Company (NYSE:F) said on Wednesday that its sales in China rose 30% in the fourth quarter from a year ago, as its revamped product line and SUVs from its Lincoln luxury brand continue to gain traction with Chinese consumers. For the full year, Ford's sales in China were up 6.1% from its grim 2019 result, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. "...Lincoln has once again become a bright spot for Ford in China. The brand's sales rose 75% in the fourth quarter, to roughly 22,600 vehicles, driven by brisk demand for locally made versions of the Corsair and Aviator SUVs. The two together accounted for about three-quarters of Lincoln's China sales in the quarter. Ford said in November that it will begin making Lincoln's midsize SUV, the Nautilus, in China as well. "Sales of Ford-brand vehicles in China rose 24.7% from a year ago, to over 100,000. Roughly half of those were SUVs, with the new Explorer and Escape accounting for about 22,000 units, the company said." https://www.fool.com/investing/2021/01/13/fords-china-sales-continue-to-rise-on-strong-linco/

  2. It's not that difficult. Just ship the replacement parts to your nationwide network of 3000 dealers and have them do the repairs. Oh Snap..........

  3. I mean the PR was great on Bronco. The launch itself has lots of issues but Ford got pretty much universal positive media. That's the work of the PR team shaping the messaging. You are seeing it here as well with them herding the media on 5.2 V8. I can guaranteed you Ford PR has been spoon feeding all these websites on the powertrain info and giving them explicit embargo dates on what they can post "speculations" about 5.2 V8 in articles accompanying staged "spy photo" or "leaks".

  4. Well, now we know... there is no next gen EcoSport ? I think this means Oakville starts next gen Edge and Nautilus EV in 2023-24 and Corsair moves in 2026. The UNIFOR contract said 5 models total so we are still missing a few. All-new Mustang is the one after S650. That's too far out to really take it seriously but on the other hand, no reason to think Ford will move Mustang out of Flat Rock either.

  5. I'm planning on a Cactus Grey Big Bend Mid package with the 2.7L V6 and the MIC hardtop...hoping for a mid summer delivery. I want a white modular top, but figure I'll just get it sometime in 2022 and maybe upgrade my wheels at some point.

  8. Short of things at Webasto getting WAY worse than they could anticipate, you're in good shape. The 2.7 will be slower to blend because of demand but night 1 reservations should all feel pretty good about an early- to mid-summer delivery.

  9. Excellent point. "Locked in" as of this morning means they're comfortable with how much they've hedged commodity issues. I'm pointing out MY22 Job 1 now being in Dec because as recently as last week I was told Sept for MY22 Job 1 and no MY21 Job 2. Obviously the #s they settled on since forced the change. If you have an early timestamp 4 door 2.3 auto non-Sasquatch Bronco... you'll get it pretty quick. Even better if it's a soft top. Absolute lowest risk for parts shortages.

  11. I want all possible safety features to be included without having to pay tens of thousands of dollars more for various packages (e.g. Super Duty line). Ford should want that too. Other manufacturers include everything for practically no upcharge, such as in Subaru Foresters.

  12. You are quite right that products for India and South America are linked, as well as Russia/CIS (another market that Ford failed in), Africa (where Ford is struggling), and ASEAN (where Ford basically only sells Ranger). If you look at the product portfolio of the top 10 car companies excluding Daimler and BMW, you will see that they tend to sell the same or very similar vehicles in these 5 regions. China used to be in the same group but has moved on to have more product commonality with North America and Europe.

  13. I changed my mind since the OBX was going to get too pricy without a plan discount and I wasn't a fan of the body colored fenders on it. I gave up a couple niceties that I really didn't need or could just add down the road.

  14. They actually said in the call yesterday that a 4 door Big Bend Auto 2.3 Auto soft top has the lowest risk of commodity issues of any possible combination... so my only risk is the MIC roof. When you're in Columbus this Summer we're meeting up for beers (and Broncos of course)!

  15. Finally! I’m very happy this is getting fixed. A V8 should have never left the Raptor lineup.

  16. That has been the case at least since 2010. Chinese market moves at warp speed - anything older than 2 years is considered ancient. Remember, Ford Focus was actually the #1 selling model in China for several years and when combined with Escort, Ford was a dominant force in the compact car segment. But Ford did nothing with those two models for 7 years when competitors programed 18 month facelift cycles. By 2018, Ford basically couldn't give either cars away.

  17. There seem to be a consensus from the media on the 5.2 V8 from GT500 as the engine of choice. These "leaks" or speculations are not random. They must have all been briefed by Ford's PR, which has been doing a fantastic job of managing the media the last year or so on Bronco, Bronco Sport, F-150, and MACH E launches.

  18. First off, I am a shareholder lol. I understand the business side of it. Sure they can eek out a bit more in profits, but at what cost? It's just going to piss people off more than anything. As I said in a previous post, I understand it for 1st Editions and the coming Warthog. But doing it on regular trims is just greedy and asking to make employees and whatnot further upset. I anticipate mine being a while, as I plan on waiting for the shadow black top. This is what my dealer sent out. It sounds to me like they want you to come in with the idea of what you want using B&P (more accurately, the order guide). I don't think they'll say "nope, can't do it, you don't have your B&P sheet." While we originally communicated that your Ford Dealer would begin reaching out in December to schedule an order consultation and place your order, this process will now begin in mid‑January and extend through mid‑March. As a reminder, your order cannot be placed online; however, you are encouraged to spec your Bronco using the For‌d‌.‌co‌m Build & Price tool ahead of your dealer consultation and save a copy to help when you place your order.

  20. They change the sheets then? They used to have the price at the bottom even if it wasn't an eligible vehicle. My Raptor had it, Bronco First Edition are no plan but that was from the start as well. I'll have to ask around to the employees I know that have them reserved if this is true. What I can see happening in typical Ford fashion is the backlash will be harsh from employees, they reverse course, have egg on their face while sewing in the employees mind of yet another time the executives tried to F them. However it wouldn't surprise me of late if they tried to pull it off, some bean counter will be like we can make an extra $15 million for the year and screw our employees! Followed by lets just eliminate the discount plans for employees across the board we could save a hundred million dollars!

  21. To continue investigating the source of annoying, rhythmic static on my 2020 Explorer's AM radio, I connected an analog voltmeter to the 12-volt power port inside the console and asked my wife to "ride shotgun" so she could watch the meter as I drove. We backed out of the garage, turned on AM radio, and headed out for a ride. We were both surprised that AM radio reception was quite good -- not a hint of the pulsating, rhythmic static we've always experienced with this Explorer. The analog voltmeter was steady at about 14 volts during the ride, and it only dipped slightly during brief stops at traffic lights. Continuing to drive, the familiar rhythmic static returned. As usual, it's only evident when the vehicle is in motion; the static stops whenever the vehicle stops. Listening to the pulsating static while watching the voltmeter, my wife noted that the needle was steady and there was no correlation between the vehicle's voltage and the noise of the static. I'd conclude that means the source of the static is not the vehicle's charging system. At this point, I can't think of any other experiments to try. I guess we'll just live with the static until Ford comes up with a solution.

  22. HEY!!! What gives? What`s with these changes? Someone changed American trade policies? How’d minority workers and blue collar workers in general do as a result? Headlines of the last four years, that will be erased from history. Forever... “Bad Orange Man’s Economy Is Historically Good for Minorities” “Celebrating the Rise of Minority-Owned Businesses” “Black and Hispanic Unemployment Is at a Record Low” “Minority Women Are Winning the Jobs Race in a Record Economic Expansion” “Black Workers’ Wages Are Finally Rising” “Hispanics Flourishing in Bad Orange Man`s Economy” “Why, the Bad Orange Man won the Largest Share of the Minority Voters in 2020” “Bad Orange Man’s Gains with Hispanic Voters Should Prompt Some Progressive Rethinking” Come on… get back in line Sheepies…. The Bad Orange Man did nothing positive... "NOTHING" and only promoted America First Propaganda. Ewe`s will enjoy getting back to the good old America Last policies. Remember sitting by the mailbox waiting for your state check and SUB check, (well maybe no SUB check for most sheepies now) or the office workers remember the 80% to 60% reductions pay before your state checks, remember the good old days? With waiting for my state check and the closing up of my Mag Mile it will be ruff to take with all the spare time coming. But, hey America last, Right?

  30. That's a Ford problem, not a South America problem. Ford is also the only car company that lost money in China when everyone did great. Some of you may think that these emerging markets are not important but Ford is also shrinking rapidly in Europe. Ford used to be the top 3 seller in Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Netherlands, France, and UK - together basically 80% of European market. Ford is a top 3 seller in exactly 0 of those markets now. Ford Europe is on the same trajectory as Ford APAC and Ford South America... For such a high fixed cost business as auto making, once you pull back on one part of your business in a particular market, then the math favors continue pulling back until you exit that market. What's the endgame for Ford? Just sell trucks in North America? I don't get it.

  31. Update: I took my Aviator down to my preferred dealer today down in Chicagoland where I ordered it from. They took a look and determined the passenger side fog light was at the correct height but the driver’s side was 4 inches lower than where it should be at. They adjusted it and they’re now perfectly level. The sun was out and, most importantly, pizza was consumed. All in all a pretty good day!
