  2. I still think there's room for Nautilus in between Corsair and Aviator.

  3. Howdy! I'm fairly new to these forums myself, and as I look around the Welcome forums I see a lot of folks like me. Someone who lurked here, doing research before purchasing their (next/first) Ford vehicle. Someone who has (or is about to) take the plunge, maybe even special ordering their new car or truck. Someone who can't wait to learn all about their new vehicle and don't want to pester their salesman until they get thrown out of the dealership. So, I thought it might be nice to collect some of the useful tips I've learned the past few weeks. These are some basic information gathering tasks you can do if you've ordered a new vehicle and can't wait until it arrives. Undoubtedly, you've noticed the "Vehicle Locator By Ford Employees" forum. While it's a wonderful and generous service provided by "someone on the inside," we must always remember it's entirely voluntary and never abuse the privilege. With that in mind, here's ways to keep yourself occupied without needing to pester cyberdman. New Orders When you make a new order for sale or lease, the Dealer (or possibly a Build Manager at their dealership) enters the order into the Ford system. This will generate three things: an order number, the vehicle's VIN, and a projected build date. When tracking your vehicle through the build process, a Ford employee can look things up by either the Dealer Code + the Order Number, or by the vehicle's VIN. For most of the sleuthing we can do, we need the VIN. So when you place a special order, try to get the VIN and projected build date whenever you can. When looking into the status of your vehicle, you might bump up against some of Ford's tracking terms. Some common ones are: Unscheduled - Clean: means the order has reached FoMoCo, and is clean of any production holds. Scheduled or Segemented: means the order is scheduled to a producton segment week. Once you see this, they typically won't accept any further changes to the order. You can find more terms here: http://themustangsource.com/timeline/05/05/DealerStatusInquiryGlossary.pdf Window Stickers One of the first ways to 'track' your order is by grabbing the Window Sticker from Ford. There are two ways to accomplish this: first, by crafting your own URL. Put this into your web browser's address bar: http://services.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/inventory/WindowSticker.pdf?vin= Then put your VIN at the end of it, and hit enter. You can also click through this link: http://www.researchmaniacs.com/Ford/TrackFactoryCarOrders.html And simply type or paste your VIN into their form. I believe they rely on the same system, but if you're paranoid use the first link; fordvehicles.com is Ford. Now, just because you've placed a special order and gotten a VIN, doesn't mean the Window Sticker will work right away. Window Stickers don't tend to appear until 4-7 days prior to your build date. So this is the first way you can tell when your vehicle is ready to be built. FordEtis Aimed at auto techs, the FordEtis website is an online database for those who service and repair Ford vehicles. It also provides information about specific vehicles by VIN. And not just 'decoding' the VIN (where some basic options can be determined by the letters and numbers), but by actually pulling info from Ford's databases. Go to http://www.etis.ford.com and click on the "Vehicle" tab. Enter your VIN and click "Search." First of all, don't panic if the vehicle it finds doesn't match what you ordered. Especially would-be Fusion owners. Like the Window Sticker generator, your vehicle's info might not show up in the system right away. Early on, you might get errors that the VIN cannot be found. Later, a simple entry might come up with just a few lines of data. The vehicle type might be incorrect, and the build date will show: "30.11.0002". Dates are displayed day/month/year, and 30.11.0002 seems to be a place holder until the actual build date is in the system. Even more later, often on or just around your build date, the entry should fill out with more info, including your actual build date (note: it might not match the project date your Dealer gave you), as well as an expanding section called "Minor Features" which lists all the build options your order did or did not take. Rail Tracking And finally, if you've been on the forums awhile and use the Vehicle Locator by Ford Employees forum, eventually you'll learn when your vehicle is complete and placed on a railcar for shiping to you. Like me, you're probably bouncing off the walls at this stage wanting to get your hands on your hot, new, little car or truck. How to do it? If you post to the tracking forum for an update, and you get a message like this: Your vehicle is on the move. To track the railcar, call CSX at 1-800-235-2352 When prompted for location or weight, press 1 or say "location". When prompted for the car initials, say "ETTX" or press 32-81-81-92. When prompted for the car number, say or press your 6 digit ETTX car number. When prompted for the next car, press ## or say "Done". A recorded voice will tell you the last known arrival or depature location of your railcar. Most times, it won't provide an ETA (and anyways, it's likely not an ETA related to your vehicle specifically). Facebook Some friendly Customer Service reps have Facebook accounts where you can ask questions. Keep in mind, this is publicly visible, so I wouldn't go posting anything you don't want the whole world to see. Tina Megan now has the original account: http://www.facebook.com/FordCustomerService Eric is the other: http://www.facebook.com/FordCustomerService2 This now appears to be the new 'official' page: https://www.facebook.com/FordServiceUS ---- I'd like to thank all the kind and knowledgable folk on these boards, from whom I was able to compile these tips and tricks. If anyone else has any tips or info, please post below. Mods, if you feel this would be useful, could you make this topic a sticky? Thank you!

  4. Ford has order tracking for people who reserved the Mach-E (my dealer screwed mine up, but that’s for another thread) yesterday many people in the forums received emails letting them know their Mach-E, some due within days, would be delayed two months. Stuff happens, and I want this to be a good launch, but if I was expecting the car I reserved a year ago next week only to be told yesterday it’s two months I’d be pissed.

  6. Gotta get a Regular F-150 based Bronco first... But if they did go that far, I don't know why they wouldn't go a bit farther and also make a 4-door super duty version.

  8. I think I’d prefer a bronco truck over a bronco, just hope the back of the cab on the production version doesn’t have that angle like in the drawing.

  9. Sure....As I’ve said before the MY23 S650 is an all-new generation Mustang with a completely new tophat body on a modified platform, now known as D5. This platform will be heavily modified with some CD6 components mixed in. This generation (S650) is currently projected to have a lifespan of 8 model years and at Flat Rock as of now. The generation after that is officially dubbed S750 and is expected to change platforms. It should launch as a MY31 and while I know that seems far away, it takes time to configure that into Fords future roadmap. CD6 may not be the platform of choice by then and it may move to another plant. Honestly hard to say where it will be by then. Lots of changes happening all the time. Also next generation Nautilus is already done. Will be sold globally everywhere. Think RR Velar with Lincoln styling. I’m sorry to say however it won’t come from current plant. Nautilus will be built and sourced from China for global consumption.

  10. I mean, a next-gen Nautilus would creep up in size too to create more separation between Corsair and Aviator. Not everyone wants a 3 row.

  11. Pass. When something has a +96 % survival rate I do not need their shot. On the upside the bathrooms have been cleaner.

  12. You would be surprised, it's a 10mm bolt and the door side of the hinge just rests on a conical shaped post. The hinges as I saw them already come in one piece. Not all Ford hinges do that but a lot of them do. My Fusion does while my Flex doesn't. Not sure about the Taurus. You could even do it with a Mustang but the nuts are very easy to cross thread and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. Also I take it back, now that I think about it the Ranger hinges are one piece that's held together with a press-fit rod, not a 2 piece bolted together design. If you want to take the doors off, the entire hinge would have to remain attached to the body. Not as easy to do as the 2 piece designs. Again, and I can't emphasize this enough, I strongly advise against trying this. My only point is it's not always as hard as it seems.

  13. I agree. FMC might well decide against making the investment necessary to keep an ICE-based mid-sized 2-row crossover in Lincoln's lineup, thinking that the profit either wouldn't cover the costs or that scarce product development funds can be better used elsewhere, such as with the mid-sized BEV crossover under development. From their corporate standpoint they might even be right. But for me personally, it will mean that I will have to go elsewhere when my 2019 Nautilus lease is up late this year -- unless I decide to buy out my lease, which I might do. My very particular wants are for a luxury appointed mid-sized crossover with a boosted 6, no third row, and ample storage in back. The Corsair is indeed bigger than the MKC: two inches longer and one inch wider and higher. Beyond that it also uses interior space better with the movable rear seat, giving the option of more legroom (or in my case, more room to store your cooler on a road trip) or more storage in back -- but not both.

  14. Isn't the Corsair bigger than the old MKC so it's a little closer in size to Nautilus?

  15. The Bronco Pickup would cost more then the Ranger and have removable doors/roof. I think they would also keep the bed shorter (think ATV sized or Sport Trac) so the Ranger gets the "true" pickup buyer. Little development cost for a decent profit.

  16. This... wasn't an accident. There is still a Bronco truck moving through development. It will be very different than Ranger. That's all I can say.

  17. Fact - any and all charges in any court proceedings will be presented for cross examination But in the current proceedings in the charging branch of the US Government there`s no cross examinations? One of our elected represenitives had one question for those bringing the charge to the proceedings. "Rep. Brian Mast’s (R-Fla.) put forth a question on the House floor that appeared to silence other lawmakers as representatives moved to impeach President Trump for a second time." “I rise with a very simple question. On January 6, thousands broke the law by taking siege of our Capitol here with us inside,” Rep. Mast started. "The breach, which was criticized by Trump himself and other top White House officials, occurred during the Joint Session of Congress to count electoral votes." “Has any one of those individuals who brought violence on this Capitol been brought here to answer whether they did that because of our president?” " "About 30 seconds of silence followed as Rep. Mast stared ahead. “It appears I will receive no answer,” said Rep. Mast, after the period of awkward silence." I and most law abiding sheep dogs would consider the silence given Rep. Mast an admission of evading due process. There`s no wondering why the media`s silence on this question, as always accomplishes to the circumventing of due process.

  19. It's alive! I drained the gas tank today and then added 12 gallons of Sunoco 93. I actually drove it around the lot before taking this short video of it idling in front of the garage. It's actually a lot louder than I remembered. LOL
