  1. You are assuming the market will be receptive to a brand that is walking wounded with a perception that it is about the withdraw from the market. Why would anyone want to buy a Ranger and risk Ford pulling out of Brazil completely when they know Toyota, Fiat, VW, and Chevy will be there tomorrow, next week, and next year. Ford did the same song and dance routine in every market it scales back local manufacturing and it hardly ever makes more profit. Usually it just accelerate the losses into the stratosphere thus justifying pulling the plug completely. Focus on pickup truck and van is the right call - that's Ford's strength. But Ford is actually not a big truck and van seller in Brazil... this is the problem. Product planning has always been the issue - for example, why is Ford not already selling Transit and more importantly Transit Connect in Brazil? Remember, Ford dealers in Brazil also recently lost the medium duty Cargo business - do you think they will embrace this decision to end their remaining volume sellers? It's a death sentence for a lot of Ford dealers. Gutting the Ka and EcoSport without a robust Transit and Ranger business already in place is a withdraw strategy, not a scale-back and refocus strategy.

  2. So the salesperson closed the deal and wrote up the purchase agreement, took it to the desk manager who approved it, so the salesperson could turn the customer over to the F&I person, who arranged the financing on an unsellable vehicle; nobody in the transaction chain knew?

  4. Probably not. His job was most likely administrative. Ralph Gilles, the head of design for the old FCA, was on Autoline awhile back and said he never ever has time to actually draw cars. I suspect that's the same for all head designers, no matter the company.

  5. Twenty or so years ago Saturday Night Live would have had a few great shows with this material coming out of DC.... Fauci said it is 'common sense' to wear 2 masks to stop the spread of COVID-19. Here's how to do it. Ford will start issuing double masks and will be mandated to wear them tomorrow.... Would someone seal up Fauci`s room with duct tape then put him a plastic bubble and roll him in, please.

  7. Really... agree with who? Really former President`s move was right? "Biden’s secretary of state nominee Anthony Blinken had, a few days before Horne’s confirmation of the president’s stance, said he agrees with the “genocide” designation. He said on Jan. 19 that he believed former President Donald Trump was right in taking a tougher approach to the Chinese regime, and endorsed the administration’s assessment that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been committing genocide in Xinjiang." “That would be my judgment as well,” Blinken said, when asked whether he agreed with outgoing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s assessment of the CCP’s actions." “I think we’re very much in agreement,” he said." “The forcing of men, women, and children into concentration camps; trying to, in effect, re-educate them to be adherents to the ideology of the Chinese Communist Party, all of that speaks to an effort to commit genocide.” Wait a minute concentration camp`s...? Isn`t that what Antifa would call summer camp?

  8. If there's no VIN number the vehicle order has not been scheduled. You can find information on the ordering and scheduling process in this Forum. https://blueovalforums.com/forums/index.php?/topic/63667-ford-vehicle-ordering-scheduling-process/

  11. For the moment we only have the Ranger - Territory is irrelevant. The rest are just promisses nobody can buy today - and make money out of them.

  12. I think maybe there was just a case of confusion with the AFS regarding the S650. They may not be aware that the S650 is coming soon and is an updated S550 with new tophat. They think the S650 is the all-new generation and be EV only which is likely the S750 one. I think there may be a reveal of some kind around the April 17th historical date but it would probably be a Concept form of it. Then the Production reveal the next year (April 17th, 2022 at which it goes on sale later in that year). Even if covid goes away by then, I doubt the upcoming reveal would be held at any auto show events as that tradition has already started to fade the past few years. The Raptor will be revealed via YouTube on February 3rd so I see something similar for the next Mustang. Even if covid is finally gone, the Mustang reveal would probably be in front of seated auto journalists and then the Concept shown at any subsequent auto shows. But we'll see what Ford has planned.

  14. Your first point is very valid. I was told GM was working on a 'real' Blazer as a fully capable off-road Wrangler competitor, not the small CUV that was introduced with the Blazer name. The 'real' Blazer was going to be an expensive program, but was predicted to be a profitable one. Nonetheless, the program was dropped to conserve capital for GM's BEV and battery programs. As for your second point, the cynic in me says the Ranger and Transit do not overlap with VW's South American products.....

  17. Plenty of Americans will be pissed when Mustang is electric, and maybe the electric Mustang will be made at Oakville. I doubt sales would be more than a few thousand per year anyway. I think Tesla has usurped the EV market, and other automakers will be disappointed with their EV sales.

  20. Before Cayenne, Porsche was synonymous with 911. The Porsche name was synonymous with performance and exclusivity. When Cayenne debuted Porsche loyalists lost their minds but all their angst was unfounded. As long as Mach-E maintains mustang like performance (like Cayenne and Panamera did for Porsche) then it will be successful and that’s all that matters.
