  1. S650 is a 23 model. If you’re looking at recent history of Mustang launches, prototypes won't be out during daylight hours any time soon and they sure as hell won't have that little amount of camo on them. We won't see a prototype out in daylight hours until much closer to the reveal. See also: Bronco.

  2. That might alleviate supply constraints, but they would still need to license the IP and secure the raw materials to make the cells. Easier to second source the battery cells just like any other part. The dispute will get settled. They always do. If not Ford has 4 years to find a new supplier and by then they will probably want a different battery anyway. From the corporate documents SK published, it seemed like these batteries may be a step ahead of the LG batteries. LG is upset that their engineers went to a competitor to finish up the work started at LG. Whatever evidence of what the engineers brought with them sounds like it was destroyed. SK claims it was only general knowledge of what they were working on so that they could hire the right people from LG. Part of the blame needs to go on LG for not keeping the engineers and scientists happy at work and not looking for another job or at least make it very difficult for them to work at a competitor. Non compete clauses exist for a reason.

  3. I was half making a joke, and my attempted humorous analysis was based on no actual knowledge, and it shows.

  7. They stated that they have a 2-4 year buffer to make other arrangements. Like it was stated before, might be a good idea for Ford and VW to build their own batteries in the US.

  9. Sorry. the way it came off was wrong. I meant that there would be no reason for ford to do that. There will be minimal orders compared to the the US so it really wouldn't help them to discount Canadian orders. I think he may have just answered his own situation though. Going to such a large dealer with so many vehicles on order creates a pretty big wait list for then. 27 Super Duties is a big order list. That was probably why an order from a smaller dealer may show up a bit faster. BTW. Thank you for all you do on here. I have gained a lot of knowledge without having to ask because there is so much here. Much appreciated!

  11. You're making a bit of a joke here but, as I'm sure you intended, not entirely. What kind of trees lock up carbon? Young, growing trees. What kind of forests no longer lock up much additional carbon (or might even be net emitters, as they age)? Old growth forests. So purely from a carbon sink standpoint it's best to both plant new forests where deforestation has taken place in the past and to thin out ancient trees from old growth forests and allow more growing room for newer trees.

  13. Wow. That’s extremely impressive. GM is sure doing something right. Clearly the trucks, while having bold designs, were a huge factor in these results. At this point their trucks can only be described as a smashing success. With the new full size SUVs hitting the road and being very very good, I suspect this momentum will continue for 2021. Proof that the big vehicles with internal combustion engines are the path forward. People clearly want them in droves.

  14. I would have to agree and time will tell. The next ford I buy will be ICE I know that much. Infrastructure is not in place yet, maybe when the infrastructure increases and more and more EVs are on the road in 5-10-15 years I’ll consider it. I just hope as OAC and other plants switch to EV products they use resources from N/A and not do everything in China. Canada is resource rich and I’m sure America is as well, unless the Chinese bought up all our resources too lol.

  15. I would not bet on everything being EV after 2025 unless Ford wants to cede massive market share. IMHO the automakers behind the scenes see EVs as a good part of their lineup overall, but not the he all end all many are saying. Talk of "all electric futures" excites the greenies and gets Wall Street wet, but the market very well decide different.

  16. They had planned exactly that (and allegedly with the Continental name) with the Rivian-derived SUV, but that got shelved due to Covid. The frustrating thing is that it was supposed to be coming out this year, which would have allowed them to beat Cadillac to market.

  17. While waiting on the new radiator I started cleaning up the engine compartment which basically amounted to some fresh black paint on the top of the cowl/firewall and underside of the hood. The other thing I did this week was to replace the manual choke on the Holley carb with an electric choke. Today's project is to finish some minor crack and paint chip repairs on the fiberglass hood scoop and repaint it with some classic Wimbledon white. A little disappointed with the whole radiator buying experience. The seller claimed it was shipped on Jan 31st but according to FedEx tracking they never had it in their possession until Feb 4th. The seller of course blames the delay on current events. It's now scheduled to be here on Monday, Feb 8th and it was coming from a neighboring state. What's frustrating is that the original estimated arrival date was Feb 3rd. If anyone is curious about the angle of the brake booster and master cylinder, that's the way they came from Ford on the original Broncos. The small, finned thingy on the driver side is a power steering fluid cooler that I added years ago. The oversize tires are tough on the steering system and can cause excessive heat buildup. I also replaced the original Ford pump at the same time with a Saginaw unit that handles the heat a little better. And I also replaced the worn-out original steering box with a new, slightly quicker ratio unit and I assume that's about the same time the pitman arm got installed out of whack. LOL
