  1. US has been out of step with most of the world on transportation since shortly after the automobile was invented. How dare Henry Ford make a car for the masses....they were for the elite. How dare Americans drive huge cars and trucks with big V8s. How dare Americans shun cars and drive trucks and SUVs. How dare Americans want to own their own vehicles and not use public transportation or ride sharing services (I’m talking about the services car mfgs were offering not Uber). Being out of step with the rest of the world on BEVs will be nothing new. The best selling vehicles in this country are full sized trucks that aren’t sold in large numbers anywhere else. Full sized trucks are also the most profitable vehicles.

  2. Considering that most states are the same size or bigger than entire European countries, what works there won't necessarily work here, yet some are hellbent on making that so.

  3. The US can't go by what the rest of the world is doing. I'll bet most Europeans don't travel anywhere near as far as Americans do. Hell, even in our own country it isn't consistent. What works in California won't work in North Dakota.

  4. You are correct - I meant auto stop/start is turned back on. I have to manually turn it off each time the vehicle starts. As to why I use auto hold all the time, I’m in a bit of a unique situation as I am disabled and use hand controls. Thus, auto hold allows me to rest my left hand while stopped.

  5. It doesn’t fit his or Europe’s agenda of full Bev or nothing. Europe makes it worse with laws that force them to use charge sustaining mode to save EV mode for in city driving.

  7. I ordered on 3/18 and got the same email on Friday. I have no idea how the order was entered since I did it all by phone and email with my dealer. But at least I know that Ford knows that truck belongs to me and I don't need to depend on my dealer for updates. Thanks Ford!

  8. From what I can tell, I don't think the Ford diesel/Ford trans. is being offered in the Pierce Saber fire apparatus any longer. I think they went to Cummins/Allison. Ford got into diesels way too late. They were a huge player in heavy trucks back in the 60's thru early 90's but refused for the most part to make their own diesel, instead throwing in Detroits, Cummins and Cat's. They're 60 years too late! By now they could have established Ford diesels as bullet proof. Now with everything going propane, natural gas and electric, who knows how much longer the diesel engine in general will be around anyway. Meanwhile a few months ago it seemed that a Ford/Oshkosh venture would be the USPS's next mail truck. It was basically a Transit. Not sure what Oshkosh brought to the table unless they were the ones who upfitted it with the sliding doors. But now I see Oshkosh alone will supply it and environmentalists are already complaining there's not enough electric versions in the contract. Not sure what the basic engine is but i would be it's a GM (Govt. Motors) engine. Also Oshkosh is making a JTLM military vehicle to replace the Humvee which does have a Duramax diesel. Lastly, I see in Amazon TV ads they use Sprinters and Ford Transits as seen in the background. But here in CT, they've been using all Ram Promasters. But now they've outgrown them and are using the standard UPS type parcel van and they are Freightliners! Daimler wins again! You can't beat 'em! More on that later. You can find links to the mail truck topics. I'm not going to insert any here.

  9. I use auto hold quite often. It keeps the brakes on when stopped so you don't have to keep your foot on the brake pedal - good for a long red light. It holds the vehicle on a hill until you hit the accelerator pedal. When a light turns green you don't have to move your foot off the brake pedal.

  10. Can an electric powered fire truck pumper be durable and reliable enough to pump 500 gallons per minute of water at a fire scene for up to 5 hours at a time for in some cities might be as much as 3 times a week? Can an electric motor provide enough thrust to power a 747 for 6 to 10 hours? I wonder.

  11. More like...someone donated $1.075M to charity for the privilege to own a 2021 Bronco “First Edition” that is built per the donor’s requested specs (oh and the donation to charity also allows the winning bidder to visit with Dave and the design team).

  13. Really appreciate the insight rperez817. You are in a great position to compare and contrast the Ford vs. Tesla experience.

  14. Nissan leased plenty of leafs. Part of Ford’s problem was not wrapping them in enough ?. Since it was a compliance vehicle no sense in selling any more than needed to meet the requirement and losing more money on it. In the RTP, NC area, leafs were quite popular until replaced by Tesla’s. Tesla is more of a statement vehicle than anything else. Around here, the model 3 has replaced the BMW 3 series. I still see some leafs around, but not many. I did spot one Mach e over at the country club. Mild climate, reasonably short commutes, “green perks” like close parking and free charging at work, and high incomes lead to the adoption rate. Where is your dealership located? Is it more rural customers that require a longer range? What did the charging infrastructure look like when you were trying to sell them.

  15. Lol, so because you don't like it's purpose, it's regulatory compliance? Not everyone wants a full BEV.

  17. California as usual continues to be an issue and won't be satisfied until the whole country succumbs to their mandates. FYI... When I attended the 1990 Ford Dealer "Introduction" meeting in Las Vegas one of the keynote speakers was columnist George Will. During his presentation to Dealers he referred to California as being the closest thing that the U.S. could have to owning its own foreign country. That was 30+ years ago and it seems that little has changed since!

  18. It is odd you can get the 2.3EB in the Corsair, but not the Nauti...

  19. I don’t see how the 2.3L would feel any different than the 2.0L. Just a bit more power. If they were serious about Nautilus long term I think it would have gotten the 2.3 base and 3.0 optional.
