  1. I agree with this statement. Electrification is coming whether people want it or not, and I believe it is important that Ford leads the truck segment in this category, like they have always been the leader. I still like a big ole V8, but I’m excited to see this truck and what it can do.

  2. Mach 1, Mach-E GT, GT350, GT500, Raptor and Bronco Warthog have determined that statement is not true.....

  3. You'll need a flux capacitor to properly charge it like that...???

  4. Not a fan of the President’s politics, but I do appreciate him coming to a significant event in time for a historic American manufacturer.

  5. I ordered my first new car 50 years ago. It was a 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7. Back then, most dealerships were small mom-and-pop businesses with an emphasis on service. Inventory at my local Lincoln-Mercury dealer was comprised of "sample" vehicles to represent each brand, model, and trim level that was available. A showroom display presented paint colors and interior samples to the customer. It was very much like Flying68's scenario, and my new Cougar was delivered to me about three weeks after I placed the order. What's more, the list of available options was endless back then. The buyer was able to choose from among four or five different engines, three or four different transmissions, two or three different radios, and decide if power windows, seats, steering, and brakes were really necessary. A/C was an option, and you could even specify the rear-axle ratio. All that, and Ford was able to deliver a new vehicle -- exactly like the customer wanted -- in just a few weeks. Those were the days!

  6. Jim Farley said it perfectly. BEV F-150 Lightning is both a game changer and the most important new product introduction for Ford in the 21st century.

  7. That's hardly the case. There are a lot of healthy discussions here at BOF with criticism of Ford, along with agreeing to disagree between those with opposing viewpoints. I think I have a high tolerance but get annoyed when disagreements become nothing more than a pissing match satisfying egos or some other agenda. And all too often the problems are with newer members trolling and not contributing anything productive to the site. And a lot of times I'll let things slide and not bother responding out of an abundance of caution to not overreact. My patience with disruptive behavior and other ongoing actions is wearing thin. To anyone reading this thinking I'm always pro-Ford, that could hardly be the case. I couldn't begin to count the number of times over the past 35 years that I expressed my criticisms of Ford in person to Ford representatives. I spend far too much time providing information to this site and assisting members on the public forums here and privately to be wasting my time with nonsense. I started a conversation with the other moderators a few months ago about behaviors on the site getting out of control. The result was that the moderators became more pro-active in taking action when it was necessary and that's something that's an ongoing process. As moderators, we act independently but share a common goal of maintaining and even improving the site's success by being the best resource for Ford customers and enthusiasts looking for information or assistance.

  8. I’ll try this one more time and then I’ll drop it. The profit from selling a few thousand Lightnings would not even pay for the powertrain development, testing and tuning and epa certification. Ford would not only lose money they would divert resources from other projects.

  9. Hi Emliner. As akirby stated, there is not much difference. Mainly some graphics, color and UI interface changes. However, it is a moot point, since SYNC 3.0 can not be factory upgraded to SYNC 3.4. Good luck.

  11. The dealer just received my Navigator and Im happy. You have to understand my frustration when a billion dollar company which has been in the business a long time has these supply issues. 5 months from order time to delivery is too long. Imagine the people ordering one now. In order to get the better options you have to order one otherwise you stuck with the in stock base models.

  13. You missed the point. Ford performance can either do a Raptor or a Lightning and Raptor gets far more sales than a Lightning would, and probably higher ATPs to boot. It’s a business decision. Has nothing to do with performance.

  14. TBH, there hasn't been a Lightning in 17 years. I'm fine with this as the naming could not have fit better with an electric vehicle and having one already tied to the F-Series is the frosting on the cake.

  15. Wonder if lightning can also recharge your Lightning. That would be a fast recharge... just needs a retractable lighting rod, lol!

  16. You know what I didn't notice that - and now that you mention that, it's also getting it's own taillights too - notice how they notch in like the 2015-20 models rather than the angle down like the '21 Indications are all of them will be Lightning.

  19. Ford's Scheduling Toolbox still shows 2022MY Super Duty scheduling start as TBD but I'll know better when the updated FDNB (Fleet Distribution News Bulletin) is released whether the Super Duty schedule is being changed. The FDNB is published every Friday but often isn't released until sometime over the weekend or as late as Monday morning. I'll post an update as soon as I find out anything.

  20. Yes sir jasonj80. '06-'10 Mountaineer used Osram Joule LED taillamp/brakelamp/turn signal modules. These modules integrated the LED capsule, connector, and heatsink. '08-'09 Sable, '08-'09 Taurus X, and '10-'12 Mustang also used Osram Joule modules for taillamps. Joule system isn't shown on the Osram Automotive website currently, I wonder if the technology has been discontinued?

  21. Exactly! The Expedition is another one that bugs the hell out of me. I hate seeing a Limited Expedition driving around with those smaller rims and incandescent lights! It's nuts! TT

  22. Don't forget the venerable PROCO V8 program that is in essence the grandfather to today's direct injection gas motors... https://www.jstor.org/stable/44632577?seq=1

  23. Yes, we are having issues with Ford. They wish this and other sites to be closed down - not to worry because we're not going anywhere. More updates on this as we progress.......

  25. Yes sir blksn8k2. Camrys are extremely popular among NASCAR fans as their daily driver vehicles. In the southern U.S. where NASCAR originated, Toyota is also the most "followed" and "searched for" car brand (either #1 by itself or tied with other brands) on the web and social media. Toyota's NASCAR marketing efforts help maintain that.
