  1. If I had a Nickle every time someone parrot this fake news talking point, I'd have enough money to buy a Tesla. The grid is fine. I work in the energy sector... it's our job to know if the grid is going to collapse and news flash: it is not This is the same as asking what happens to the sewer system if everyone in the city flash the toilet at the same time. First, it is not a real problem. Second, the grid doesn't work like the way you think it does... just because you plug in a bunch of EV, it doesn't overwhelm the grid. There is redundancy everywhere and we are building more storage capacity all the time. Third, the vast majority of EV do and will charge off peak. Fourth, the increase in EV is going to be graduate on a grid scale; we are not increasing throughput by 30% today or tomorrow. A few % increase in off peak draw is nothing to worry about. And lastly, we've done this before, many times. You should see the hand wringing from people back when prediction for adoption curve of refrigerators and air conditioning showed the grid is going to collapse. Nothing like that happened. Nothing like that ever happens because smart people are doing their job instead of spewing nonsense on cable new channel and fake news websites that are dedicated to ignore science and ridicule smart people.

  3. The shop.ford.com tracking page updated in the last couple hours to "in production". There is a "view window sticker" link at the bottom now under the dealer info. It doesn't pull anything up yet. Last I heard I had a July 23rd build date.

  4. I didn’t say that all EVs are bad. Hybrids work Just not a good business model for an entire brand (Lincoln) to be 100% electric. If you want one, buy one. The technology is still flawed after many years of development. Still very expensive and take a long time to charge (3-16 hours). If I drive across the country in a regular car, I stop about every 400 miles for gas and fill my tank in 5 minutes. For an electric vehicle, only the best models allow you to reach 400 miles and then you have to sit at a charging station charging for 3 hours (level 2) or even 16 hours (level 1) to fill up. Last, how much was the government rebate for EVs right now to make them semi-purchaseable? $7,500, and that doesn’t include the expensive cost of charging stations. If you want a vehicle to only drive back and forth to work, then an EV may be a good fit. Hybrids work as a good alternative, but I still like gas better.

  5. No surprise that Asian countries look after their own brands first, whether intentionally or not, it shows the foresight needed to avoid the problem that US brands now experience. Lessons need to be learned regarding risk assessment of critical path supplies.

  7. The competition was serious: 3 Tesla, one Audi, one Volvo and the upscale brand, Polestar, the VW star, the ID3…. And the winner is a Ford! Is a big achievement for the brand. And the next winner will be, for sure, the F150 Lightning

  8. The fundamental transformation was being staged for acceleration in America during the 44th`s second term. The left`s candidate lost, and the transformation had to take on additional objectives to push for the control needed to accelerate the fundamental changes to put the transformation in place. It is occurring and is moving through the OPCOM`s, Board of Directors and CEO levels of the Fortune 500. With the Fortune 500 CEO`s receiving a median compensation of $13.7 million in 2020, money can`t be motivation. The question is who or what is the indoctrinating force on these CEO`s to have them move to these types of views and to put into place these types of indoctrination polices in their companies? https://hotair.com/karen-townsend/2021/07/07/whistleblower-exposes-defense-contractors-woke-awakening-as-it-embraces-crt-program-for-employees-n400796 Reading through some of the indoctrination programs being put into place and looking at just Fortune 500 CEO`s there is a very strange picture. 4 - Female CEO`s, 37 - Males of non white race which put 459 CEO`s that by the descriptions and definition of, in these indoctrination process are the racist and privileged individuals that are the subject and root cause of all the systematic otiosities in America. Strange or part of the control plan? Use and discard is a corporate business tool applied and used for a long time. Then the tell them anything to get what a CEO needs to happen, is also used widely in the Fortune 500. Used? Again what is the picture of America that #44 had in his view? Was, is #44 a front man for?

  10. Careful... search any of the forums about this and you will see that halogen lights aren't worth anything and that they are unsafe!! I don't doubt that the LED's are brighter and illuminate better than halogen, but I don't think that makes the stock halogen lights unsafe as many claim. Last year I rented a 2020 F250 XLT with halogen lights and used it to tow our camper nearly 4000 miles in 9 days... so there was plenty of night driving. I remember driving through the night down the 2 lane roads cutting through north OK (among other places)... no lights anywhere because there was nothing out there! It was plenty dark, and the halogen lights were just fine, no complaints. And if it weren't for the auto brights that come on these trucks now, I wouldn't have used the brights... so in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with the stock halogen lights, but no, they aren't as "good" as LED lights. As for me, when I ordered my 2022, I went with XLT trim, which the LED lights aren't even an option on. In order for me to get the stock LED lights on my truck I would have to go with Lariat trim (+$6K) and then the Lariat Ultimate package (+$3500) and then finally the LED package (+$1200), so I did not feel like the LED lights were worth the extra $10,700 upcharge for my situation... Saying that, the Morimoto lights mentioned earlier in the thread seem like a pretty good aftermarket option at a fraction of the price ($2200), and they do come with all the wiring harnesses and instructions needed for installation. Check out this video for installation and a demonstration... they look pretty great! These won't be my first aftermarket purchase, but they are on the list... Edit to add: I do not have plans to replace the bulbs with LED bulbs... it seems that this isn't the best route to go... at least for others driving on the road!

  11. The point is, if the grid can’t handle electrical demand with basically 0% electric cars, what will keep it from collapsing when electric cars are a significant % of the national fleet?

  12. Hey gang I check here every day for even a crumb of information on this new Godzilla based 6.8 engine. It’s been quite a while since I’ve been able to find anything of substance so if you fellas feel like it you can drop any information you have on it right here. I saw on another forum that this engine line is up and running and I believe the first few have been built. Hoping to garner anything more on it especially it’s intended usage in Ford’s rapidly expanding and ever more exciting vehicle lineup. Thanks in advance.

  16. I wonder if Lincoln could emulate the Maverick strategy - base model as a hybrid, the GT as the PHEV, and a BEV as the top-end trim. That way at least the entire Lincoln lineup would be at least partially electrified.

I have found this to be most helpful when dealing with issues. It gives them something to escalate the problem with especially if they can't duplicate.

  23. Well JP to add to this thought, I have to believe that the bridge constraints that precluded use of double stack rail container cars is probably being close to being eliminated. This is going to make regional hauls (less than 500 miles) more of a factor. And to do that you are not going to need a 600 HP extended roof sleeper. I always felt while Ford up until the end tried to get a lot of that long haul sleeper market, had they not done that but concentrated on the short haul and vocational market they would have survived in class 8.

  24. That is some good information, thank you. I too have an XLT on order, and the upgraded lights seem to come at a very high cost. I'll try the stock lights first.

  25. I'd be really happy if we could go back to the sealed beam headlights that were used by everyone when I started driving 50+ years ago. No foggy plastic lenses to recondition or replace, adequate night time vision without blinding oncoming drivers, when they were dirty, you could simply scrub them clean. If they worked, and were adjusted/aimed properly, you were good to go. Yep, I'm an old geezer.

  26. The way transport has grown in the last decade, Ford should be looking at it, railroads are doubling train lengths to increase efficiency but they’re fast approaching the limits of “track space”. That means road transportation must surely increase.

  27. It's clear that many dealers do not really care about the customers. Had one make an appointment 3 hours away to go see a used car (at a new car dealer), confirmed 3 times, and then the car wasn't there. On the other hand, when I bought my 2005 F150, I took a newspaper ad showing the truck I wanted for 15K to the dealer. Salesman said take your pick, we've got about 8 of those. So I did, test drove it, paid with a check - the price in the ad, and was on my way home in less than an hour. Perfect. And I expect that to never happen again.

  29. You are forgetting CA, FL, and NY. BEVs are big sellers in these 3 big states with over 80 million population combined. Here in FL, Tesla is a common sight along with hybrids. And batteries are always getting better. Smaller and more powerful. The battery in my hybrid is the size of a brief case and easily fits under rear seat meaning little loss of cargo volume. And the hp on my hybrid is greater than base Escape turbo and smoother to boot with almost twice the fuel economy. Maverick is starting movement of base engine being hybrid.

  32. Obama stated on many different occasions and he declared it in front of large crowds “they” would “fundamentally transform America.” I still have just a few questions based on our President at the time, statements Can anyone paint a picture of America`s future with these fundamental transformations? Then again what are these fundamental changes? Was the President at the time planning on these changes with certain left of center groups? Did these fundamental changes require planning for or establishing of resistance or offensive forces? Could the fundamental changes involve foreign government establishing support or suppling needed technologies to assist in the former Presidents views of a transformed America? Other than the bad orange man putting a kink in the plan for four years are we seeing the plan in full swing? Amass large groups of a resistance forces in large cities. Reduce society`s law enforcement to a level that puts the law in question in every way. Fall in line with creating mass disinformation as a weapon against those not in line with the transformation? Allow masses to enter the country that will fall in line with the transformation bought through oblation to the transforming entity. What is the picture of America that the transformers are putting in place?

  34. Agree with almost everything except the trade in situation. Trade in is wholesale. They have to sell it for a few thousand more than they pay you or they don’t make any money. Now if you’re saying they lowball you even below wholesale then I agree that’s distasteful but sometimes they just don’t need that particular vehicle or they’re not selling well. You can always get a quote from car max or Carvana, etc.

  41. How about going back to the 1980s: You had the Ford Cobra 230 ME concept car and the GN34 project, which at the time where related it seems https://www.carstyling.ru/en/car/1986_ford_cobra_230_me/ https://www.topspeed.com/cars/everything-we-learned-about-the-mid-engined-ford-roush-gn34-this-week-ar190384.html https://bangshift.com/general-news/car-features/stalled-experiment-ford-gn34-program/ The odd thing at the time is the GN34 never seemed to pop up in car magazines of the time and the Cobra 230 ME was in Popular Mechanics all the time (I was in love with it as a teenager), saying it was getting the Yamaha 3.0L V6 aka 1st gen Taurus SHO motor, but other websites say it would have gotten a I4 rated for 230HP. What was the end result of this? Nothing What did we get instead? Something called a 4 door Bronco...the Explorer, which of course was a far better bet for Ford.

  44. Sand should not be entering the inlet tract. For desert running something like a Donaldson Powercore would cure that issue as that's what they were designed for. Ford does not need to give themselves a major performance handicap for what is (IMHO) a non-factor design criteria. I also doubt a healthy N/A 6.8L V8 -- especially a Godzilla derivative -- would offer enough of a performance benefit over the HO 3.5 EB to be worth even talking about. Although a 6.8L version of the long-runner intake Gen 3 Coyote (Mustang GT trim) would make ~630 HP/570 lb-ft any 6.8L high performance variant of Godzilla will be stuck around LS7-ish numbers. Figure 500-530 HP, 470-500 lb-ft best case for a 6.8 Godzilla with fairly wild for a OE truck V8 cam timing (it will need to rev to 7000) and heads that flow 30-40 cfm more than the 7.3 truck heads. A naturally aspirated 6.8 liter DOHC 4V @ 630/570 could compete with the TRX given the weight advantage of having no SC/IC system compounded with a slightly lighter base chassis. A "Hi-Po" 6.8 liter version of Godzilla will need some boost to avoid having the TRX eat its lunch. Hooray for the return of pushrods... (◔_◔)

  45. I would think that as long as the air filtration system is properly designed dust would not be that big of a concern. Once the filter becomes clogged it doesn't matter what type of induction system is on an engine it is going to hurt its performance. Unless you are driving behind other vehicles that are kicking up a lot of dust (as in a desert race) I doubt it would be that big of an issue anyway. If it was you would have heard about turbocharged EcoBoost engines in previous year Raptors having similar problems by now.
