  3. A retail customer order should never, under any circumstance, be driven by anyone other than dealership personnel for the purpose of the PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection), detailing, etc. to prepare the vehicle for delivery to the retail customer. Allowing anyone else to drive the vehicle creates a huge liability for the dealership should the vehicle be damaged by non-dealership personnel. No test drives, period.

  4. My whole thinking is this. We should have gone there as soon as we located Bin Laden, kicked ass and left with the promise that if anyone pulled some shit like 9/11 again we would be back.

  9. I agree and like with any other group of assholes we would most likely have to do what we are good at. Make the hit. The bad orange man put two notches on his gun and it was a good signal to the rest of the idiots. Now it’s kinda erie to read Ben Ladin’s correspondence with his troops years after he took one for the cause and see the same VP he told his troops not to try and kill causing the crisis Latin spoke of.

  10. I sold a 2017 F350 Lariat CC with 20K miles at the end of June. The truck was spotless and the original MSRP was $74,900. I started out asking $79,800 and it took about a month and half to sale and I ending up getting $76K for it. The KBB middle private party value was right around $78K at that time. At first, I thought I sold it to low, but my dealer advised me to move the truck by July 4th and to ask $78K for it, because he was seeing that prices were coming down. He probably knew that the 2021's that had been sitting were about to ship. The KBB value has dropped to around $73,500 today so I think I sold just in time on this one. Now I am getting ready to sell a 2019 F350 STX CC with 20K miles, also spotless. The MSRP on this truck was $57,400, althought this same truck would have an MSRP of $60K today. Back in June the KBB private party value was up to $66K and is now down to $62,500. I did a search on the Ford site and there are now a lot of trucks at dealerships for sale in my area. Not like back in the day, but you can definitely find one. I put out several inquiries and of the ones that got back to me want $5K over MSRP for a XL, STX or XLT and $10K over for a lariat. Most of these trucks are 2021's, but there are 2022's available as well. My dealership is telling me that they expect the used values to drop $800 to $900 per month until the end of the year. I'm not totally convinced, but he was spot on regarding the last truck and has access to a lot more information than I do. He has also been very helpful, transparent and forth coming with the information that he is providing. My thoughts are that the 2021's the dealers received won't last that long, and the 2022's will ship more slowly to dealers since Ford is starting to focus more on retail orders than dealer inventory. Also, I believe the end of year is when businesses buy trucks to use up budgets and get the tax write off. In AZ, construction has been booming for years and Covid didn't really hurt that. I would have to assume that most construction businesses are flush with cash from work and the PPP money thrown around by the government, and they will need tax write offs towards the end of the year. So the used market will still be good, but maybe not as good as it has been. Unfortunately my $5K upgrade is now probably a $10K upgrade.

  14. I would not worry too much about aluminum block melting in medium duty. I think the real issue is fatigue life! Cast iron or CGI is vastly superior for fatigue life! There must be more with Ford choosing 6.8 over 7 liter like 429 cid for such small volumes in F150 and Mustang? 429 versus 414 cid is almost insignificant except from a marketing perspective, 429 would of worked better! I just wonder if CO2 footprint of the 6.8 with dynamic skip cylinder deactivation is equal to the CO2 footprint of the high output 3.5 Ecoboost???? Also the rod to stroke ratio is about 1.57 to 1 on the 7.3 It is unlikely the 6.8 deck height will be any different than the 7.3. edselford

  18. Properly engineered iron blocks today are much lighter than they were 30+ years ago. Some of the cast iron exhaust manifolds look like "shorty" tube headers !

  20. The robustness of cast iron and CGI blocks is undeniable in HD and MD applications, no manufacturer would ever dream of using an alloy block in that application but not for the reason that you’d imagine, they’re just not needed for light weighting or the heat transfer. Point is that an alloy block is superior to cast iron in drawing heat away from cylinders, you dont want that for efficiency. Keeping some heat in the bores but drawing it away by using alloy cylinder heads is the key. Ford’s 7.3 is a no nonsense practical approach to what is needed and what buyers want, big capacity V8s that works well under constant heavy load and more fuel efficient than a smaller turbocharged gasoline engine.

  21. I noticed on Thursday on my way home Crest Ford in Flat Rock suddenly had a lot more on their lot beyond the 2 Mustangs and 1 Transit Connect that have been sitting there for a few weeks. Lots of Escapes, a few Edges, a few F-150s and the Bronco Demo unit they've had on display.

  23. I ordered a '22 F250 SRW w/ 6.7 on 7/22 and got my confirmation from Ford on 7/26. Ordered a Platinum in Star White with everything that you can except for tremor package, loading ramps and supplemental heat (yes, including AS) So, now I get to wait with everyone and feed the rumor mill as to why we haven't gotten our trucks yet ?. I have been lurking on this forum for a bit and want to thank @ice-capadesfor all the work that he and others have put into this site. One question I do have is about the supplemental heat (waiting makes me spend more money), does anyone have it and what are your thoughts. TIA

  27. Chip shortage must be abating s touch if you look at Mullinax inventory for August. Lots of new Escapes and Bronco Sports finally arriving. Over 20 Escapes in last week.....mostly hybrids. About 200 FSeries in stock......most in months. In July, Mullinax was down to less than 300 vehicles, but now about 400 vehicles even with many daily sales.

  28. This is a very unique request, but does anybody have a contact or knowledge of a department or person at Ford that can do a custom request? My grandfather Gilbert Schropp worked for Ford for 50 years. He retired three times from Ford. He was at the top of the transmission division and his job was to oversee all aspects of Transmissions for Germany and France. He died a couple years ago and after his death my grandma came up to me and gave me his desk name plate. She told me " I want you to have this because we saw how you looked at that plate on his desk every time you came over" I was/am proud of Grandpa, he was the most honorable, respectable, intelligent man I have ever met in my entire life. SO.... I would like to put this name plate into some kind of small custom made inset ( where the plates can be removed if ever needed) and have it incorporated into the interior of the truck on the dash where it looks kinda somewhat Factory. Not only do I want it to look Factory I would like for Ford to put this in, it would mean more to have the work done by Ford than to put it in myself or have a shop do it. I imagine if I do enough digging I can find somebody of some kind of importance up at the top that worked with my grandfather that may be able to make this happen but before I spend all that time digging and searching is there a special department or anybody in particular that would handle this kind of request. I know to some this may be stupid and, may devalue the truck but it's what I want. Thanks

  29. It's a shame Ford let Navigator and to a lesser extent Expy rot on the vine for as long as they did, losing headway they had made in the market years ago.

  31. So here it is. After trying to drop AS on my original Built that was placed on 6/1 with 5 different tentative built weeks due to AS. and the dealer not allowing me I went ahead and just put a whole new order in and just got this email today. Order was placed yesterday. I kept both trucks to see which one would get built first and as of right now it seems that the one I placed yesterday will be. built week September 20th

  32. That’s the part that annoys me. The fact that we as the customers have to feel like Karen’s just for wanting to know what the hell is up with our order. It’s just bad practice to treat customers like this. I know it’s not all dealers. Just seems like an awful lot of similar stories.

  33. I have voiced an opinion about this very subject. I’m just a simple old backyard boy but my instincts tell me that a high strung V8 with a “super sucker” supercharger on top is NOT a great idea for vehicles that are intended to be used in silty desert conditions. I don’t think fixed rotor superchargers can deal with getting sandblasted for very long. I’d rather see Ford put a healthy N/A V8 in the Raptor R and let Stellantis have the horsepower bragging rights with a foolish design that will never tolerate the conditions. Ford needs to win by being the best not just having the best magazine numbers.

  35. “Leon Panetta, the defense secretary under Obama from 2011 to 2013 and a man who has served alongside Biden for decades, looked at the inept execution of the withdrawal and commented, “It just struck me that they were crossing their fingers and hoping chaos would not result.” “It is long past time for people to notice who Joe Biden always was, and what he has become. He is a hollow man, incapable of managing a picnic, let alone a war. His credibility, always unearned, is shot. His only real skill was his quick tongue, and it has deserted him. Even his onetime virtues — his old-timey patriotism, his faith in institutions, his empathy for others — are easily discarded as the old man reverts to his base instincts when cornered. Biden must hobble through the remainder of his presidency, if only because the alternative is Kamala Harris, his imprudent choice — or threat — of an heir. But nobody should, any longer, pretend that Joe Biden is fit to lead this nation.” The slimmest of majority got what they wanted, get rid of the bad orange man at any cost and now it is very clear what they got…. Then America is stuck paying the cost of the slim majority`s hatred of one bad orange man, for 3 ½ years to come.
