  2. Rivian has filed its S1 with SEC and values the company at $80 billion. Not hard to imagine this going double or triple this amount once the stock start trading. It's a crazy number for a company that has yet to deliver a vehicle to retail customer (supposedly it has already delivered a bunch of vans to Amazon). Ford is valued at $53 billion based on Friday 8/27 closing price. Ford reportedly owns somewhere between 15 and 20% of the company. At current valuation, Ford's equity investment in Rivian is actually the single most valuable part of Ford. Not the F-150. Not its distribution network with dealers in every small town in America. Not its joint venture in China. Not its 100 years old European operation. Nuts. https://electrek.co/2021/08/27/electric-pickup-startup-rivian-files-for-public-offering-80-billion-valuation/ https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1133398_rivian-files-for-ipo-80-billion-target-is-350-times-tesla-s-ipo-valuation https://www.wsj.com/articles/ev-company-rivian-confidentially-files-for-public-listing-11630080304 https://www.nytimes.com/2021/08/27/business/rivian-ipo-electric-trucks.html https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/27/cars/rivian-ipo/index.html

  3. Every new vehicle I have purchased in the past 20 years had a need for paint correction. Vehicles sitting out in some random lot for months will certainly require the same (rain, sun, dust, and environmental pollutants will cause damage to paint). Not to mention, all of those Broncos stuck in “dirt mountain”. That’s almost laughable at this point considering the reports of leaking hard tops on the Broncos that have been delivered to customers. I wouldn’t take delivery of any vehicle sitting in a lot for months, but that’s my choice. Do what you wish, some folks are OCD (me) about the appearance of their vehicles.

  4. Paint contamination is a given here-yes my vehicles are parked in a garage. And once a year they get the clay bar treatment by me. There is absolutely no way the paint surface will not have contamination. Saying other wise is naïve at best. This forum is so biased at times -its in an alternate universe.

  5. When customers start searching for vehicles online and find what they're looking for, Dealers having that vehicle are very reluctant to either trade it to another dealership or agree to Plan pricing when they don't have to. Unfortunately, with the limited inventory available in stock, far too many dealerships are playing games with customers in an attempt to gain sales. These short-sighted attempts to sell vehicles can only hurt them long term. Just give customers straight answers and abide by their contact preferences and you'll earn their respect even if you don't get the initial sale.

  6. Now that you've gotten your 15 posts and requested a status update via the "Vehicle Locator by Ford Employees" you've proved my point about posting so many similar items with basically the same content. Thanks.

  7. I am considering doing the same. It's been 4.5 months I am still unscheduled clean on a 22 F350 6.7 Tremor Lariat Value w/black appearance. I am putting another 22 F350 6.7 order in with no black appearance (due to the spray in). Which one comes in first is the one I will buy. I need a truck before end of year! I just can't bring myself to get a Ram or GMC...I looked and drove them, just can't do it. I'll stay with Ford

  8. I personally wouldn't buy of of these trucks that has been sitting for several months. There is going to be paint surface contamination. Are the dealers going to "clay bar" the trucks before delivery? How does the sun blaring at the tires affect dry rot? For those who don't drive many miles, the tires could be subject to a shorter life. I haven't ruled out an F150 for my next truck purchase. But it will defiantly not be one sitting in the "rot lots". BTW-dealers run through their vehicles (generally) much faster than the vehicles that have been sitting in these lots.

  9. I wanted to circle back and answer my own question. After trying everything I could think of and multiple times of adding/removing my car and the app, I stopped trying. Approximately 10 hours later I opened the app, and there was the option to add phone as a key. I'm not sure if there is a timing component to it or not, but that's my experience. At this point, my phone as a key appears to be working. Thanks,

  10. Interesting comments made about potentially trying to compete with the defender. If they were going to go that route, I'd expect they'd go all in, with a 3rd bronco model within the bronco sub-brand that had distinct, but more modern styling and independent suspension all around. I don't see them doing a fixed roof, a few leather trim pieces and then trying to go after the defender with that.

  11. The issue is I've heard that flat rock would struggle to produce a taller vehicle. Hence why they focus on producing mustangs and until recently, continentals. That being said, that plant is no longer running at full capacity, so I wonder if Ford has plans to produce future additional models there alongside the mustang. If that's the case, I wonder what those future models could be. Perhaps a mustang sedan...

  12. You are kidding, right? New gen Ranger will be a definite hit though.

  15. Meanwhile, this is the last year for the NSX, GM is rumored to be ending the Camaro again, Stellantis seems impatient with Dodge, and Europe sales keep the Mustang viable. It doesn't look like the Sport Coupe segment is doing any better than the sedan segment, and maybe even worse.

  17. Not a refresh, but an entirely new generation, due to arrive next year I believe.

  18. This makes sense as demand for Bronco is outstripping the manufacturing plant's capacity. I know how it goes. I worked at Louisville Assembly when the first generation Explorer launched. We couldn't keep up with demand. At the time, we were building the 2 and 4 door Explorer along with the 2 door Mazda Navajo and Ford Ranger. As Explorer demand continued to grow, dealers began demanding Ford abandon the Navajo to free up capacity for more Explorers. The second generation Explorer was even more popular and Ford finally gave in and stopped production of the Navajo. Being capacity constrained is both a blessing and a curse. Adding in the Bronco pick up would have meant less Broncos could be produced. It also adds complexity to the manufacturing process. With future vehicles moving to a BEV platform it makes sense to drop the program now and perhaps revisit it in the future.

  21. Well since you bumped and included your info I checked your status anyway and of course as you can guess - No change. I really feel for you - and all the other hopeful would-be Bronco owners as well. What a shitstorm. There is an old closed/abandoned Ford plant just a couple of miles from my house that I drive by frequently. Last week they opened up the parking lots and 1000s of Broncos are now parked there waiting for their roof replacements. It is so sad - and as an employee totally frustrating. Whenever you are ready for more info on this - if/when it comes, just go ahead and rebump. If you want you can start a new thread to track that Corsair - you may already have done that - not sure I'm just back from vacation.
