  4. Why? It's completely impractical. I live in an apartment. I have absolutely no way to practically charge a BEV. Nor do I wish to spend a large amount of time waiting to charge. I'd much rather fill up and be on my way in minutes with a full tank. Not everyone has a personal situation where electric makes sense. Besides, I fully expect rolling blackouts everywhere (just like California) once enough people are forced onto electric. I can't do anything about that, but having a good ICE car is one thing I can do (assuming they're available still).

  7. No longer any justification for the development cost of an all-new ICE based Thunderbird that would have limited sales. I wouldn't expect anything other than a BEV or Plug-In Hybrid chassis for future vehicles at this point. Existing ICE vehicles will continue to be available for years until they switch to new BEV platforms as supply and demand increases.

  8. Road and Track has a new review of the Lincoln Aviator and in conclusion calls it the best 3 row luxury CUV in the segment. Yes, better than BMW and MB. Better than anyone. Only exception is GT which R and T dsays needs some work drivability wise.

  9. The person that posted at 6G said it has an order code 922A which means it is not a package on an existing theme. I'm guessing it is replacing First Edition. If you go by the other theme order code, 922A means it is [name of theme] Mid trim level. I'm sure there will also be a 923A (High trim level) and 924A (Lux trim level) but sounds like it won't be available in standard (would have been 921A)

  12. On the Ranger Raptor powertrain, assuming it does get the 3.0L EB, has the argument ever been resolved over the engine block material? Seems to me there has always been some confusion as to whether or not the 3.0L shares the CGI engine block with the 2.7L Nano or if it was changed to an all aluminum block. I'm of the opinion that it does have a CGI block with an AL girdle between the block and the composite oil pan, same as 2.7. That makes the most sense to me especially considering that both engines are built at the Lima engine plant. Can any Lima employees confirm that?

  13. Since the 9/27 Scheduled to Week I was given back in June, I’ve had 5 or 6 other dates. I’m happy to report I picked up my truck today. It’s a very nice upgrade over my F250. Thanks for your services.

  15. Forget the "Convoy" reference on the Window Sticker. Except for dealerships that are within a few hours of a plant, the vast majority (90% plus) of vehicles are shipped by rail to a final ramp where they are transferred to a car carrier firm for final delivery.

  16. Finally showing “in production” on my 3/24 order. Assigned to 9/27 build day. Also can see window sticker, and shows “convoy” at the bottom. Does that mean it’s getting truck shipped? Do they know that already? I’m reasonably far from the plant, in MN.

  19. With all due respect, COVID is playing absolute havoc with supply chains all over. I own a residential water treatment company, and we've been hit with supply issues from every direction - resin, tanks, chips/circuit boards, even salt. And transport....some trucking companies are so short-staffed it's a miracle things are getting out. My wife's 2020 Aviator was rear-ended in late August last year. Minimal actual damage to the car, but he went UNDER the reat bumper, resulting in a twisted exhaust system, which leaked exhaust fumes into the cabin. It sat at a local body shop until late DECEMBER, waiting on a new exhaust system from Lincoln. Add to that that many places are "making do" with temp workers while folks are out sick or working remotely.....it's a complete and total mess. The wife's Aviator has been back for repairs so many times that as I write this, she's put less than 8,000 miles on the car in the 18 months we've owned it - and that includes a 1,000 mile trip right after we got it. In normal times, I'd be all up in someone's face - but these times aren't normal....and based on my 40+ years with FOMOCO products, in normal times the situations would have been sorted out long ago, IMO. I'm trusting enough in the product that we have a 2022 Aviator BL on order.....first year models - yeah, I knew better...lol

  22. The last generation Thunderbird was to be a 4-year run with production limited to 25,000 vehicles per year. The hit the sales target the first year and then dropped for the remaining years. The nameplate hasn't sold in volume since the late '80's and then dropped continually until Ford dropped the Thunderbird after the 1997 Model Year. While the nameplate has history, it would take a tremendous investment to reintroduce it and I just don't see the sales potential. I have some experience as my dealership was one of the Top 10 Thunderbird Dealers in the country.

But through the back door, unseen, Haitians being released to Red States, still without testing or documentation. Saw one guy make the Statue of Liberty disappear.

  35. That idea is years away if anything. They have to plan ahead, and can do that while simultaneously handling current issues. They can't just stop planning ahead because they're having issues now. I feel like it'd do better in Australia rather than Europe.

Yet 50 of you with Superduty orders just came here looking for order updates and inside information, which ice-capades has provided over and over and over while half of you bitch and moan constantly about things that are out of everyone’s control and ask the same questions over and over, So go vent somewhere else.

Until then, don't bother complaining about matters you know little about or with personal attacks that won't be tolerated. Just try me!

  39. Having worked at a large tire shop, I can tell you that I would never add offset rims/tires to my truck. I puts stress on all your suspension parts (pick up a 20lbs weight, now hold it with your arms extended out from your body). If you live in an area that the roads have wear groves, you trucks tires will be wider than the groves and you truck will sway from side to side as its trying to stay in those groves but its "foot print" is simply to wide now. And the kicker for me is fuel mileage, my 2020 6.7 cc, 4x4 f250 currently gets 22.5 mpg with out any mods with stock tires and I live in an area that is 3500' elevation . Bigger tires will reduce your mpg (not that thats an issue for some). I have done a leveling kit ($200) from Les Schwab and it gets rid of the nose lower than the bed look. in my opinion super dutys are tall enough and I am 6'3, I dont feel the need to jump into my truck. Be prepared to get huge mud flaps or a jug of matching paint to fix the rock chips.. But it may look bad azz..

  40. Ford is going to bring out the big guns for the next Ranger. They have Toyota firmly in the crosshair... they want to take down the Hilux and Tacoma like how Yaris is destroying Fiesta right now in Europe.

  41. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1131347_ford-ranger-plug-in-hybrid-reportedly-coming A ranger hybrid is coming, apparently sometime in 2024. It will have a max output of 362 hp and 501 lb ft of twist. Should be quite beastly.

  43. The main reason we went with a MKX over the edge titanium (which we had owned previously) was the seat comfort and leather quality. Longer warranty, free pickup/delivery and revel sound system were added benefits.

  44. Ford did a good job with Mach E's interior, IMO, with a premium feel to it - and better than some other recent efforts. But it's not at a Lincoln level.
    1 point
  45. Definitely false on not having better materials in Lincolns vs. Fords. We own an Edge Titanium and a Continental Reserve, and I have also rented Mustangs, Explorers, Fusions, an MKZ, and an Aviator. Lincoln indeed does have better materials, at least the midsize and up models do. Not sure about the Corsair, but I would imagine it's similar to the MKZ. Continental and Aviator both have soft touch leather seats that cannot be found in any Ford product, and dash and door materials are softer and better grained. Sound deadening is better also. Even things like welcome lighting, interior chimes, and how the doors close all have a more premium feel. The Continental has massaging, heated, and ventilated seats available both in front and back seats, as well as rear reclining seats, 3 zone climate control, and automatic rear sunshades. You will not find those in Ford products. I have not been in a Mach E so maybe Ford stepped it up for that vehicle, but in my experience there is a notable quality upgrade to Lincoln interiors and far more tech and comfort features.

  46. Yup, Ford should just throw away $80-100k sales because you say so.
    1 point
  47. Look, it's really simple: In your opinion, Lincoln doesn't need to be kept around because it doesn't make sense or appeal to you. That is perfectly reasonable, but it's not an absolute, because Lincoln is selling product which means it appeals to those buyers. There's no argument to made - as long as the business case for Lincoln is sound (it must be at this point, given that Ford continue to fund its product line), then while your opinion works perfectly well for you, it is not an absolute because Lincoln is selling in adequate enough quantities to pay its way and justify continued investment from FMC.
    1 point
  48. I see zero reason to keep Lincoln around, especially with the coming BEV transition. Lincoln will never again be an upper echelon brand, and there is no reason a high end Ford cannot compete in the market Lincoln now competes. My Mach-E is every bit the luxury car as it’s competition. A similar Lincoln BEV would be redundant.
