  1. https://www.autoblog.com/2021/10/27/uber-tesla-hertz-rideshare-drivers/ Those drivers must be getting/taking a lot of rides if they're able to offset $334 AND make money/make it worth it. Uber takes a big chunk of the price you pay as a rider, which riders don't realize (I used to drive some) - I remember having people comment to each other in the back "well he's already getting $x, we don't need to tip"......I didn't say anything of course, but I don't think I was even getting half of the amount they were paying.

  2. You have to remember Ford is a woke company now. Bill Ford Jr. Is more concerned with being politically correct in matters of the fringe elements of society and saving the planet-even if it means spending billions of dollars on technology the average customer does not want or is interested in.

  6. Yeah, it looks the front end gets all new nose clip including headlights and back end get partial revision. Looks like interior gets some changes too. And hopefully a new trim line with eye popping, contrasting stitching throughout interior. Furthermore, the 1.5 3 cylinder for fleet S only and hybrid standard on every trim line and 2.0 turbo optional on SE on up.

  7. I ordered from Chuck Anderson Ford in Missouri, Nick the General Manager gave me a great deal, very communicative. I ordered back on 4/26, took delivery 9/29. I knew the wait was going to be long so I didn't really bother him but he would email me on all updates even though I was getting the emails from Ford as well. I also live in Texas so he arranged to have it shipped to my local dealer since he bought my 2013 for a higher price than my local dealer was giving me.

  8. Exactly. Hertz making a big deal about “educating” the customer isn’t going to be appealing to those busy travelers already tired and stressed just trying to get somewhere. I don’t want to watch a training video. I just want it to work. At least they got the part about picking it up at 80% charged and returned at 10% right. It will still come down to cost as to whether corporations will approve them on the expense report.

  10. It would be nice just to come to work to work and not have the daily diversity, inclusion or whatever the popular trendy thing to talk about is. If you want to talk about something how about making the parts in our vehicles and building vehicles the best we can and better than the other guys? You never cut your way to prosperity and exiting / bailing on the car market while foreign transplants started from scratch and making money indicates priority levels and execution. When you do not produce the vital parts needed for your product you are at the mercy of someone else.

  11. https://www.autoblog.com/2021/10/26/2022-range-rover-revealed/ It's almost too clean...... I also don't understand why they made the front so similar looking to the outgoing model, and then the rear is very futuristic with the very slim, hidden taillights. I feel like the front should have also had very slim, more integrated/hidden headlights to match the vibe of the rear.

  12. This information is completely wrong, Ford has always separated stock orders (20-99) from retail (customer) orders (10-19). The only thing COVP does is allow Ford to prioritize retail orders and bypass the normal dealer allocation rules. It also prevents dealers from playing games with fake customer orders. Please leave the details to ice-capades. You’re just confusing people.

  13. Why in the world are you asking about COVP? It's totally irrelevant now that you have a VIN and build date.

  15. Add anther thank you to Ice Capades for helping a stranger work out his difficulties with an order. As a result of his intervention, I got my truck moved to a priority 01 and schedule for production. It also resulted in a buyer from the dealership contacting a Ford regional manager to discuss my build and intervene. I am so very grateful to Ice Capades. Tomorrow is an important date for me, I am scheduled for build the week of Nov. 1st. Tomorrow is the last chance Ford has to delay the build...again. So wish me luck. I ordered back on May 24th; F-350 Lariat, Tremor package, Ultimate package, adaptive steering, black-out, and several other options. I did finally delete the adaptive steering and then the Tremor package to speed things up. My wife and I had to leave our 5th wheel camper in Washington State because of the delays. We arrived in Nebraska in late August to stay at a relatives until the truck is delivered to Apple Valley Ford in Minnesota. We are days away from selling our current daily driver, a 2015 Ford Edge Sport. I had it serviced at a local Ford dealer in Fremont, Nebraska. They offered to buy it and also said they would contact Ford and see if they would deliver our new truck to them, rather than have us fly to Minneapolis to get the truck in Apple Valley. I'm all for that. The Apple Valley dealer said he didn't want to lose the sale or the possible trade-in. The Ford dealer in Nebraska said they would credit the sale to Apple Ford, and I've already found several better offers for my Edge than the dealer in Apple Valley offered. My question to folks here is; can Ford divert a delivery to a different dealership that where it was first purchased? Again, for those who come here like me with all sorts of questions and concerns, you can trust the good people here like Ice Capades to provide you reliable and helpful information. DanO

  17. Well I started in '93 and the HN-80 program would have gotten kickstarted in 90/91, most likely. It's very possible it started with an approved business plan but then 6 years later when the truck was actually being produced it yielded actuals far worse than expected. That would not surprise me, especially with some of the loose cannons in the truck division when it came to forecasting/accounting. They knew trucks, but lets just say they were not detail oriented as a group and always overpromised/under-delivered. That clan was all talk......So once the actuals start coming in, and they were dramatically worse, then the knee-jerk "oh crap lets dump this division" came in. But looking back, yes, they should have dumped it before spending a nickel on HN-80. It went from bad to worse. My point on the Baby 8 is the only way to do it and recoup your investment is to have the ability to build a large number of buildable combinations so your volume is high enough. If there was one spec that was 60% of that market you could build that one configuration and not worry about anything else (like Hino does in Class 6) but baby 8 is not like that. You need to build a wide variety of trucks in that segment and each is low volume. Companies like Freightliner can do it because they minimize investment for baby 8's by re-using parts/cabs from the class 6-7 trucks below it and the class-8 above it. Ford can't do that with no heavy class 8 trucks in their lineup. Plus, as I've said before, Ford knows they can barely compete in class 6-7 with their current dealer network, so it really makes no sense to build anything class 8 given they can't support it, anyway. This fact is HUGE. It seems simple to say "hey, just slap another axle on there and make it a tandem" but in reality a baby 8 will use a different chassis entirely. Heavier frames, larger axles front and rear, different suspension/chassis parts, etc. The current dealer network has nowhere in their Parts Departments to store these additional parts they would need. That's just one of the many issues keeping Ford away from Class 8.

  20. Eh, for me it's be along the lines of what's here - it's great for Tesla to have 100k locked in sales (as it would be for Ford in your scenario), but I still think it's a big leap for a rental company for BEVs. Obviously mandates are beginning to push everyone toward BEVs, and unlike his tenure at Ford, Fields is seemingly trying to get out in front of it instead of being caught with the pants down......but I agree with the sentiments that when people are renting cars, they want familiarity, and for most people BEVs aren't it right now...mainly on the charging aspect (BEVs in general) and interface (for Tesla specifically). Long term there'll eventually be a industry (rental) wide transition. And I'm sure it's not 100k at once, but phased in over x years. One very interesting component of this deal that could affect ALL automakers if true - little to no discount on pricing for the 3's. Automakers may push for the same little to no discounts for other products when selling to rentals, which helps automaker profitability, meaning rental fleet sales won't be as bad. That said, consumers will likely get hit on the other end because of that via higher rental costs.

  22. It basically means Ford has your order, its not scheduled for production as of yet. When they get to it, then it will go "into production" as You have many orders that ford needs to build probably before yours, but you have a place "IN LINE". At least thats what I think it means.. ??? ?

  26. Each Dealer's USOB (Unscheduled Order Bank) and allocation is totally independent from any other dealership's USOB and allocation. As such, the order priority codes for unscheduled orders only apply to the individual dealership, exclusive of any other dealership.

  27. I reached out when it was posted about the COVP and he already knew about it and was taking care of it. He's an enthusiast like us and doesn't like the run around so he doesn't push it on his customers. It just seems like a lot of sales people just didn't have the knowledge which is partially their managers fault in my opinion, but also follow up with your customer regardless if it's a 20k vehicle or a 100k vehicle. I hope you will be just as pleased as I was with my experience!

  29. This right here is exactly what I was looking for Sir, I greatly appreciate you sharing this. Along with no progress, I felt like I got little to no information from my dealer. I’ve only called three times to ask for updates and it seemed like I was getting the runaround. I will definitely reach out to Nick. Communication is key with all of these commodity issues.

  31. Just thought I'd talk about my initial thoughts on the truck. F250 XLT premium, supercab, 7.3, 3.55 gears, camper/plow package, 5th prep, pto provision, It is whisper quiet inside the cab with very little road noise. All you can hear is the radio, and the 7.3L. There is no mistaking it..... It definitely sounds like a big V8 should, but it does so without being loud at all. The sound of the engine is truly addicting! I love the power of the 7.3, and in all honesty it is probably quite a bit overkill. I have yet to really get aggressive into the throttle because there is just no need. Even easy accelerations will really get you going without any effort whatsoever, even with towing light trailers ~4500#. It will quickly get into 10th gear (around 50 mph driving easy) and ride along at 55 mph at 1200 RPM. I have about 360 miles on the truck so far with a pretty even split of light trailer towing and driving around with just the truck. (no highway speeds, mainly country roads in the 50-60 mph range). With cruise set at 60 for a 10 mile stretch of road (Truck only) MPG readout got as high as 17.2, which was NO stop n go, just cruising down the road. Towing trailer around country roads 55 mph, the readout says around 11. (readout was reset for each type of driving ). In the end the readout said 12.1 over the whole tank, and upon fueling up, the hand calc was 11.4 for a pretty even mix of empty/towing driving. That was driving pretty easy and not at highway speeds. I did tow my inlaw's 17' aluminum enclosed trailer about 40 miles with it, which included 10 miles of highway at 70 mph, and the readout was around 9 mpg during that stretch. the rest of the trip with this trailer was 55-60 mph, and it said 10.8 for the trip upon getting home. I was expecting better with such a light load, but I guess you still push a lot of wind with enclosed trailers. So in summary, It will get acceptable mileage, but I'm sure it would quickly take at least a 10% hit if you drive a bit faster and more aggressively to go the flow of traffic. The truck rides about like I expected...Very stiff over large bumps but pretty smooth otherwise. I have 10000 GVW and 5600# front axle rating due to the plow/camper package. Being an XLT premium, I have a power cloth drivers seat with heat. It is very comfortable and the seat heats up very quickly - almost instant. I have never liked leather seats, and now that I can have heated cloth, it is absolutely the way to go in my book. I think the halogen headlights provide pretty good light and I'm satisfied with them. There is another thread on this forum debating LED vs Halogen and support for LED is almost unanimous. I'm sure the LED are very good lights and an improvement, but based on my experience, I don't understand why everybody thinks the halogens are so terrible and almost un-useable. My truck has Auto high beams but they are not working correctly yet, as they flash every car several times, so I had to shut that feature off. Hopefully they can get that fixed in a few weeks. I have the standard radio, and while its not a luxurious sound experience, it is more than acceptable - (does not sound like a tin can) The plastic steering wheel the truck came with seemed hard to hang on to, uncomfortable, and just looked cheap. I replaced it with a Lariat leather wrapped wheel, and it was worth every penny of the ~$390 including tax, 15 install time. Bought it on Ebay from a ford dealer that sells lots of them. The shifter knob and wiper knob seem pretty cheap and still had pretty large, sharp edges that were not cleaned up. Its an easy fix but I think they should have been installed in a more refined condition. I've added a tonneu, drop in bedlinder, console fridge, and in the process of adding plow brackets and wiring now, which is probably somewhere around 300# of extra weight. Taking off Friday for a 1500 mile trip to Montana with the aluminum enclosed trailer, and driving 1500 miles back home empty, so I should have better data soon regarding that.

  32. Hard push for a non-problem group of out population , makes you wonder what they do when a real problem presents itself. The FDA panel has voted 17 to 0 to approve the Pfizer vaccine for 5 to 11-year-olds. One of the FDA Panelists, Dr. Ruben, outlined his support by saying “We’re never gonna learn about how safe the vaccine is until we start giving it. That’s the way it goes.” (There has been a TOTAL of 542 deaths in the USA age 17 and under )

  33. I’m priority 1. It’s been moved as of last Tuesday from 2 (zone rep inspired). The order is for a lariat tremor 350 6.7 with tons of options, including AS. ordered 4/28 with no updates since. I’m not removing AS. I’ve waited far too long to give up now - plus some non-KRs are getting scheduled with AS now.

  36. I got to see the '22 over the weekend at the auto show, and the updates looked great. The new back end is definitely more refined looking - they nicely had the '21 on the floor on a diagonal from the "pedestaled" '22, so it made for a good back and forth look at both simultaneously. I think Automotive News' timeline is off, but they're claiming a new Navigator is arriving for '23, while they had a new Expy for '24. To me, this could be 3 things - 1) a year off, and both are '24, 2) a "straddle" debut like '15 Edge and '16 MKX were in that Edge came out in '15, and MKX was only a few months later but made a '16, or 3) means Navi comes a complete year earlier than Expy, which also explains why Navigator's refresh was more mild compared to Expedition, with it's replacement sooner on the horizon. On a related note, also saw the '22 Expy, and the interior looked much better and more appropriate for the vehicle compared to a mostly direct copy from regular F-150s the 18-21 has.

  37. Whole range of ethics question there. Different risks for the old and those with health issues. Some precautions are used in people employed in industries (hospitals and senior care facilities) helping seniors and the ill, including flu vaccines that are not 100%. For presumably healthy Ford employees what is appropriate? Offered the flu vaccine for years. Some take it and some pass it by. Seems appropriate. For the young, say school children or college students, risk of serious illness or death may be less than the flu. There are risks, even advocates admit, to the vaccine. Seems a reach (or grab) to demand the jab. Changing the narrative, health officials are now emboldened to ask for flu vaccine mandates. How far will this go? A few years back salary began paying more for health insurance if they had smoked cigarettes. Will they demand a payment if we are a few pounds overweight? Corrective action plan, with a glide path to compliance?

  39. Vaccines are actually even more rigorous in approval. Vaccines are for people who are not sick. Tolerance for side effects is minimal. Drugs have a different test. If it is a maintenance drug, taken daily, need to see how it builds up over time, or changes effectiveness. For serious illness, cancer, for example, side effects can be significant. For vaccines, the biggest of the 20th century was polio. Research started in the 1930s. The Salk vaccine was developed in 1952 and mass vaccination began in 1955. So yes, COVID vaccines are a "warp speed" development. When you add the novel mRNA aspect, even more remarkable/alarming/"holy gene splicing Batman" it is.

  41. I have said this before and I will say it again..... EVERY DRUG RECALLED BY THE FDA WAS ONCE APPROVED BY THE FDA. Once they get years of data on the vaccines will they be recalled? If they have negative side effects you cant sue the drug companies...Who will be held accountable? Your employer or government for trying to force you into taking it? Like Cal50 said. FDA Approval Process. It takes on average 12 years and over US$350 million to get a new drug from the laboratory onto the pharmacy shelf. Once a company develops a drug, it undergoes around three and a half years of laboratory testing, before an application is made to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin testing the drug in humans. They came up and tested these vaccines in less then 9 months !!!! What kind of short cuts did they take to achieve results?

Tesla minimalist interior with huge touch screen is intimidating. Almost every control goes thru the screen. Add in charging and most just want to get somewhere with no fuss.
