  1. That's like saying I need to sit on the seat naked because if I wear pants, they are useless.

  2. https://gearjunkie.com/news/ford-ranger-stuns-toyota-tacoma-in-consumer-reports-annual-reliability-study The Lincoln brand, ICE powered Mustang, and Explorer are doing poorly in reliability. Mustang Mach E is doing well so far and is proving to be much more reliable then Tesla. Lots of good info here.

  3. Ive heard from someone I highly respect that it's a matter of when, not if for a third shift so maybe they can use one to help justify the other.

  4. I'm a CR member and have been asked. This is the largest survey of auto reliability available to the general public with a huge sample. CR's statisticians know their stuff and if a sample is too small or the data is unreliable they won't report it. So unless you've got big $$$ to pay for other data which may be no better, this is the most reliable data in the business, even if the data tells us that Ford and especially Lincoln have real reliability problems.

  5. I also prefer how on the clay model, the line sweeping across the top of the headlights and grille is one, even smooth line. On the production truck, they had the top of the grille kick up a bit about the headlights, which makes the design look fussier. Yeah, here's hoping the clay model is closer to what we get with the US spec ranger.

  6. You know what it is? Those black bars running under the grill are basically straight on the clay model. Which fits the squared off design. But the production version has those bars almost making like an hourglass shape, which looks out of place.

  7. That reminds me of the shifter that Jeep had to remove because it was causing roll aways. (Not saying they behave the same, but having the PRNDL on top leads me to believe this may not have traditional detents, but may bounce back to its default position after putting in gear like the Jeep did)

  9. Regular cab has already been seen via spy shots. Regular cab usually shows up in media later...

  10. That 90% of F150 comment by Ford was dismissive and intended to trivialise the need for Ranger. You could say the same thing about Escape or Edge vs Explorer, it’s just nonsense. What the changes do is give product space between Maverick and Ranger, anyone who drives a mid sized truck will immediately realise the difference between it and a full-size pickup. It’s basically filling out the existing vehicle.

  11. I hope so! With a really capable BEV Ranger (Ranger Lightning?), Ford has a real good chance of stealing some of the Rivian R1T's thunder ? BEV Ranger or BEV Maverick will be the next pickup truck my family buys for our business.

  12. Looks nice and a good evolution of the current truck (which, as an owner, I think looks quite handsome and understated). Interesting to see how they will revise the front of the truck for the NA market since you can assume they will forgo the integrated fascia and go with a bumper much like the current generation. The interior (as little as I can see) looks ok, I expected a bit more design to match the exterior, but seems fine. Nothing I see would make me want to trade in my Ranger, but I can see this opening up the market to more people than the current truck does. Good job Ford!

  13. As I predicted, 2” increases in wheelbase and track, a nice improvement in usable space and stability. V6 diesel confirmed for ROW markets, something Hilux will struggle to match….

  14. I love how these industrial strength velcro strips all of a sudden start "failing" progressively leading up to the launch of a new vehicle. I bet 3M are scratching their heads wondering what the hell happens.

  16. Here's one of my all time faves! My Dad bought a brand new '76 F-100 Ranger (between Custom and XLT) in the same copper color as shown. It was beautiful. Had a very strong running (but thirsty!) 302 2bbl in it! -Ovaltine

  17. Due to a lot of static from everybody-GM has now backed off and will have dealers install the chips to operate the heated seats . The heated steering wheels are still not available except on the highest trim levels.

  19. this is a Badlands...had to have the 2 litre, after that...hard for me to leave anything alone.... all badges removed, White letters in front changed to black ( they removed the whole bumper! ) had tow hooks painted Red, fog lights changed and red caliper covers in front with 18 inch OZ wheels 245 tires...drives GREAT...and very quiet. Shes absolutely stoked...and I had some fun opting it out. The stereo is even above my expectations!

  20. I would not. Not even with the tax credits. I could not comfortably drive across state in a Mach-E, for instance, without worrying about charge status, charging stations, or the time it took to charge. Example: I had a 1998 Mercury Mystique V-6 with a 5-speed. Although I loved the car, it had (what I at the time thought) was a ridiculously small range: 300 miles. However, that's the top of the current crop of BEVs. And why purchase a car that does not at least provide you with the freedom to take a trip cross state? Or on vacation? Or drive it on an interstate? Or drive it to a different state? I still think a plug-in is a better alternative (even if the little Escape's ICE only has a 10 gallon fuel tank).

  21. Good luck on all that. Massive litigation going all the way up to the Supreme Court. Americans especially don't like being told what to do as we have witnessed recently. We won't even get into the classic car industry that is a billion dollar+ industry.

  22. Not the fanciest truck by any means but I love it. Has all the bells and whistles I want. 2022 F250 CC ultimate trailer tow with locking diff, FX4 package and the XLT Premium package in carbonized grey.
