  2. Ask your dealer where you are in their queue based on your priority and their other orders. If you are not at the lowest priority then that’s between you and your dealer. If you are first in line then some part is preventing your truck from being built. There are supply chain issues with hundreds of parts not just the ones mentioned on here. Ford doesn’t just ignore orders for no reason. And your dealer has all of the information that’s available.

  3. The insurers are using something called “the law of large numbers” to calculate selling price of their extended warranties. If they sold one policy to one vehicle owner, it would be blind luck who came out ahead. When they sell hundreds of thousands of policies, the insurer has very good data on how much they will pay out in total so can set the premium to cover costs, payouts and a profit. So yes, they always “win”, even if they take a beating on a single lemon. Most individual vehicle purchasers don’t ever get away from blind luck because they are never going to buy enough vehicles. I bought the extended warranty on my diesel truck for peace of mind. If I bought the gas model I’d put the premium into a CD or mutual fund and take the gamble. I buy new and run them into the ground before buying again. If I bought new every two or three years, I'd never buy an extended warranty. There’s no right or wrong answer, whatever you prefer to do is correct.

  4. Ford only sold the heavy truck business. JMC is still Ford's brand for pickup trucks and light/medium duty trucks in China. https://www.jmc.com.cn/ Let's not confuse JMCG with JMC... JMCG owns part of JMC (~20%) but Ford is the largest and controlling shareholder of JMC (32%). JMC makes and sells light and medium duty trucks, vans, and pickup truck; and several Ford models (Territory, Equator, Tourneo, Transit, Everest). Ford counts all the sales of JMC in its Chinese and worldwide sales. JMCH was a subsidiary of JMC but Ford sold it to Volvo. Pretty sure Volvo will now make its own product instead of Ford Otosan product. JMMC (which JMCG owns but Ford doesn't have any interest in) makes and sells buses. It has nothing to do with JMC or Ford.

  5. I see post like this all over the internet without really any context. It's the same hand waving about how we will run out of electricity if all the cars are converted to plug in which I've written so many posts here to debunk. It's basically just another red herring. Steel and aluminum prices doubled the last couple of years and then gained another 50% or so when Trump imposed tariff on the stuff. Did the average new car price go up 300%? Rubber prices have gone insane the last 7 or 8 years. Did the car industry grind to a halt because no one can afford any more gaskets and tires? Lithium prices fluctuate but it is a raw commodity. The value chain that goes into making batteries and then a vehicle is much more complicated and layered. Lithium prices may increase (or not) but that doesn't mean battery price will spike (or crash for that matter). The environmental concern is real though. But not any more so than mining for iron ore (also typically stripped mined) or burning the rain forest to plant rubber trees. The point is that it is a tradeoff we will need to make to decarbonize the economy and avoid total catastrophe in climate change.

  6. Well, early Merry Christmas to me! A little over 3 months from order date to delivery. F-250 Lariat, Ultimate, FX4, and Chrome Packages, 20" wheels, Moon roof, Adaptive Cruise, High Cap Tow Package w/ Ultimate Trailer Tow, 3.55 Electronic Locking Rear Diff, Block heater, Rapid Cabin Heat, Upfitter switches. Had to bring it home in the rain and get it all dirty on our first trip together, but that's fine by me! I think I've walked out to the garage at least 15 times since I got it home, just to make sure it wasn't a dream...

  7. JMC sold its Heavy duty line, not its light and medium duty line. Volvo Trucks renamed that line as well, so any "JMC" branded products you see are from JMC-Ford.

  8. My understanding is that the plants shut down after today since tomorrow is Christmas Eve and the holiday falls on Saturday.

  9. I highly doubt there is a 200% markup on parts and labor but that is a fair point to a certain degree. My only issue is people who don’t understand that it’s a gamble or who don’t understand the economics. They’ll pay $2200 for the warranty then make a $500 claim and say “boy am I glad I had that warranty!” when they could have kept that $2200 in their pocket and still had $1700 left.

  10. That won’t happen. The rules are simple - provide the vin if you have it otherwise the dealer and order # each time you bump for an update and read the rules about when/how often you can ask for an update depending on your last status.

  11. Hi gang. The other thing to keep in mind in this discussion debate is that yes, of course the auto manufacturer makes money on the sale of an ESP. However, there is a cost differential in this equation which seems to be overlooked. If I do not purchase an ESP and have a problem, especially a large one, I pay retail for the parts (or close to it) and retail for the labor. Ford on the other hand only pays their parts cost, which is a fraction of what I would have to pay retail, and a greatly reduced rate for the labor to the Dealership. So Ford pays far less for an ESP Plan engine replacement, new transmission, AC system repair, SYNC system repairs/replacements etc. etc. than I would need to pay out of my pocket if I do not have an ESP. So when discussing/debating the entire cost factor of an ESP, that huge repair cost differential between what it costs Ford to perform a repair, and what we would have had to pay out of my pocket for parts and labor, has been overlooked and needs to be taken into account. Quick example. Let's say when I purchase my new car, I purchase an ESP for $2,000 . Ford makes ~$2,000 up front. I later have ESP Plan warranty claims totaling $3,000 (if I had to pay myself). Ford's actual costs for that $3,000 in repairs is more likely ~$1,000. So I made out well purchasing the ESP Plan (saving $1,000), and Ford still made $1,000. Bottom line is Ford can make a profit on the the sale of the ESP, and I can still get my moneys worth (and possibly more) in savings on possible future repairs. Yes, of course if I never have a claim, I would have been better off not purchasing the ESP Plan at all, and "self insuring" (keeping it myself). However, like any insurance, it is a matter of odds and willingness to sustain a loss. The moral of the story (in my opinion), is for each person to do what is best for their own situation. And if you decide to purcahse an ESP, shop around online and at your local Dealerships, because the Plan prices being charged differ greatly from one seller to another. My local Lincoln and Ford Dealers would not even come close to the prices I was able to find online. And even the online prices had a large price differential, with some saving me several hundred dollars over another (as I have discussed in numerous previous threads on ESP sellers). And certainly yes...If we are only keeping a Ford vehicle for 3 years before selling, or a Lincoln for 4, and our mileage will be below the New Vehicle Warranty limit, don't waste money on a ESP. Good luck with whatever everyone decides to do. And Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all! ??

  12. Hi and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately with F-450's many of the commodity issues over the past couple of months are critical or included components of the F-450's - 19.5" wheels, DRW boxes, 5th wheel prep, so some of the commodity issues can't be deleted to speed the build. Ford have been building a few F-450's, but many are still in the queue for scheduling. I ordered in August and their are many before me. On this and other forums, almost everyone with an order of at least August, or earlier has been moved to Priority 1 or 2. I removed all options like spray-in bedliner, mudflaps and wheel well liners back in September, but am still waiting to be scheduled. I have been at Priority 1 or 2 for at least a month. My dealer estimates my truck will scheduled and receive a VIN next month.

  13. I also ordered a carbonized gray XLT with black out pkg just wish fender emblems came black, don't know why Ford would put chrome emblems on a black out pkg shouldn't be too hard to paint black

  14. As posted last Friday in the Production Week Scheduling Information forum, there is no vehicle scheduling until after the holidays. Scheduling will resume the week of 01/03/2022.

  16. That was the one thing I didn't like, the XLT premium package has heated cloth and is less expensive then the black appearance package. But it has way too much chrome for me. I wanted the black package more then the heated seats and figured if I want them that badly I can put aftermarket heat in it. I'm in canada and haven't really missed them. My wife has heated seats in her car and I usually turn them off after 5 minutes or so anyways. Here is mine in carbonized grey, I'd love to see how yours looks in black when it comes in!

  17. You will love it especially with the 10 speed. I'm getting scout the same mileage on 2022 f450 as the 2018 f350. I bet you get 900 miles to the tank

  18. I only got the "built" email so far. I haven't seen "shipped" yet. I'm not holding my breath that it will ship before the shut down. It will probably be the end of January before it makes it to me.

  19. Ok and apologies to you as in hindsight, I was a bit dismissive of your POV

  20. Damned if you do, damned you don't. Those same environmentalists will be hard pressed to give up their cell phones or laptops that use batteries.

  21. Don’t take it to a dealer. Find an established transmission shop. They should be able to rebuild it for half what you were quoted. Might as well get it fixed - you’ll get dinged the cost of the repair when you trade or sell it anyway. You will likely get a lot better deal on the vehicles you mentioned a year from now.

  22. the caveat to cost parity is the materials needed to make batteries - if those increase, all bets are off. I know operations are expanding globally but it’s only a matter of time before environmentalists wake up and realize the strip mining that goes into making the unicorn green batteries.

  23. Chevy Dolt??? Okay, more seriously...Jolt, Zolt (as in Zzzap)? Do I need to be doing GM's marketing for them?

  24. Thanks. I hope everyone else gets a nice Christmas present from ford soon also. Well a paid present at least.

  25. I get the impression it's less about reducing workers and more decreasing the likelihood of damaged or broken parts. Reduces costs from parts and not paying overtime to repair vehicles post assembly.

  26. When you look at climate change and resulting extreme weather events that mean millions lose power every year, the F150 power generator is a huge win win. So far no one else has really copied it fully. No truck is more functional than the F150. Savage Geese just did a review of the 2021 F150 Tremor and called it the best 1/2 ton pickup outthere. And Edmund's just named the F150 the best also. So Tesla has its work cut out in order to compete against the Lightning as F150 has been the best selling truck for decades, especially contractors who use them for work. The competition is getting tougher and tougher, and Ford knows pickups like no other. Maybe that is why Tesla is having so much trouble getting its truck to market.

  27. In the Ford employee forum, Cyberdman provides an excellent service, on his own time. If you provide your dealer code and order number he can provide the latest status on your order. Please note he is currently on holiday until 3rd January. Before posting, I suggest a careful read of the posting guidelines, as they are enforced. If your dealer won't provide order updates, it's time to ramp the request up to the Sales Manager, or get a new dealer. Good luck getting info, BTW I ordered in August and also don't have a VIN assigned and some ordered as early as March.

  31. 2003 Tundra, 238k mi. Made it through this camping season, time to clean it up and see what we can get for it. Our SD was ordered 8/14, no build date yet, but we can wait, no real need for it until next spring.

  32. I do, but not to the same degree. UNIFOR as a Union has backbone enough to stand up for their workers and fight for good pay/benefits. That's more than I can say for the so called unions (some would say mafias) down in Mexico. I feel much better about buying a vehicle made in Canada than I do Mexico.

  33. That’s your opinion not fact. I personally don’t care either way but it’s disingenuous to call it American if it’s assembled in Mexico. North American would have been more correct.
    1 point
  34. No. If the VIN begins with anything but a 1 or a 5, it is not American, just like if it was designed and engineered anywhere else and the money goes back to a headquarters anywhere but America it is not American. This is a hill I will die on.

  35. This is what makes customers LOVE their vehicles. Not so-called 'reliability', not all the stuff consumer reports and the other auto rags nitpick about. The number 1 single greatest factor for customer satisfaction in a vehicle is how it makes the driver feel. Looks like the Bronco Sport nailed it!

  36. Yes sir fuzzymoomoo. Same is true for Mexico, the Mexican Revolution in the early 20th century resulted in a constitutional provision allowing workers to organize, 8 hour workday, living wage, etc.
