  1. Last I heard we are resuming our normal schedule this coming week.

  2. I don't buy that they are thinking about bringing those back to US market. The fuel economy difference isn't really that big between CUV and sedan. Are these cars going to not have chips? Are they going to be profitable? The biggest hurdle for Ford is chips and batteries. They have the vehicles

  3. Not a bad thing for consumers but you’re wrong about Maverick. The biggest conquest vehicle for Mavericks are former civic owners. Think about it - add a tonneau cover and Maverick is every bit as useful as a focus sedan for people but with a HUGE trunk that can also haul way more cargo including mulch and can tow up to $4K. And the question wasn’t what consumers want, it’s whether Ford needs to change anything because of high gas prices and the answer is no. They just need to build more Mavericks and more hybrids.

  4. It's also about price also. With the Ecosport now dead, that only leaves a small pickup in $20,000 segment. Not everyone wants or needs a pickup. The Escape SE is a $30,000+ vehicle. So Ford could use another vehicle in the $20,000 price range. Since sedans are cheaper than CUVs, having one sedan priced for consumers of all income levels is not a bad thing.

  6. NADA has been meeting in Las Vegas this week, and news from OEM/dealer meeting leaks out to the media. From the Ford dealer meeting has come this information: Here's the hard info that created the news above: https://www.autonews.com/nada/ford-pushing-back-dealer-allocations-until-late-may-100000-units-lost-suppliers-struggle?utm_source=industry-events&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20220312&utm_content=article1-headline

  7. Wife and I were able to see the Antimatter Blue in person prior to our ordering. In the sun it really pops with the two tone. Very happy with the choice.

  9. With Maverick getting 37 mpg starting around $22K and Escape hybrid getting 40-ish I don’t see the need for focus or fusion in response to high gas prices.

  10. You need to reduce weight to conserve fuel...I suggest find a PROPER place to dispose of wine and ammo. There is just such a place I know of, just north of Charlotte NC. Exit there, 5 miles, left turn, 2nd house on road, has a 2022 silver f350 sitting in the driveway.? (is proper ammo disposal place!)

  11. I would delete moonroofs and glass roofs off of every car I've ever had if it would let me. Only my Mustang didn't have a stupid glass roof, but that's only because it was convertible.

  12. I was surprised as well! I’m hoping I hit it at the right time. He explained to me how the process works for dealers and it was very interesting. Basically, before all of these supply chain issues dealers would get an allocation, so say a dealer gets 15 trucks allocated to be delivered and sold off the lot for march. We’ll when a customer would place an order it would add a spot to that allocation, so the dealer would still get 15 lot trucks, AS WELL AS the customer order truck. However, now if a dealer gets 15 trucks allocated and a customer comes to order one, that order will take up an allocation spot. Meaning they would then get 14 trucks to sell off the lot and the order would count for the 15th. This is why we are seeing empty lots everywhere. However, what he has told me is that their dealership is allocated for 4 superduty trucks in April and due to myself not ordering any high commodity items, I should be grabbed for one of those spots. This is all speculation, however I trust they know how it works and have seen how it works over the past months and I’m hoping they are right! I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t heard anything! Maybe check if you have high commodity items on your order, your dealer should be able to see!

  13. Just ordered and dealer said you might be scheduled in April? Wow! Ordered KR in August and still hasn’t been scheduled.

  14. Currently driving a 2014 F150 running 35 x 12.50 x 17s and I get 10-12 mpg. Cost in central VA is roughly 4.30 for gas and between 5.10-5.30 for diesel. Running a 36 gallon tank on my truck and my last 18.8 gallon fill up was 80$. So I’m figuring 140-150 per fill up every 350-400 miles. New ordered truck is a 48 gallon f250, needless to say I’m hoping prices got the decline.

  18. Yes, I've seen this but when I read it, I think Ford is telling you what the minimum pin weight should be for safe towing. Real world examples from dry weights of 5ers are more like 22%+/- 3%. That doesn't include anything you might load into the trailer. That's why I'm looking for real bed capacities. In any case, it looks like the F-350 DRW in any configuration will be able to handle whatever I throw at it.

  19. My last F350's had undercoatings. Being in upstate NY, its a must on these trucks because all the electronics, welds everything is exposed to the tremendous salt loads that the state uses on all the highways. I've seen the videos of our trucks being "corrosion dipped at the factory" its a joke if you ask me. All three major brands around here are rusted out in 5 or 6 years. I had my LineX dealer do the undercoats, looked good and was done well. Now I own a 2022 King Ranch, so what did I do, WoolWax. The company that makes WoolWax also makes FluidFilm. Both are good but WoolWax stays fluid below 32, but FluidFilm is frozen. I sprayed WoolWax all under and repeat once a year. Yes Aluminum doesn't rust, it corrodes. Hayweezie- I know Watertown well, suggest you get a block heater. Rob

  20. Bought it last night, paperwork done after dark and we raced home to partially beat a snowstorm. So in our one drive so far, feels good solid and stable in highway and snowy condition. The adaptive cruise control is way better than our old car. Sync4 is great. Huge screen we used for Waze with the wireless Apple car play. Bigger difference from a 21 than what I expected. No issues getting everything up and running in a few minutes. I'll need a week to get the seats adjusted perfectly and really go through all of the features. I liked the reserve wheels in person better than the pictures. It has a console which we wasn't in our original order, so I'll need to figure out how to childproof it.

  21. I've used Amsoil HDMP on my last two trucks. It sprays on as a liquid and dries as a waxy substance that won't wash off. Works amazingly well for preventing rust. The caveat is that it's very messy and smelly to apply. I'll be doing my new truck as soon as it comes in.

  22. A long, long, time ago in a galaxy far, far away..... ...I owned an F450 that I used to tow a race car and trailer. One of the things that I did to the truck was add an OBDII tuner from Bully Dog. It worked well and made the truck noticeably quicker and pull harder in the mountains of Colorado. What is the current thinking about these tuners? I notice that Bully Dog doesn't seem to be as popular these days. Is Banks the way to go? Thanks in advance for any insight provided!

  23. I have been using Fluid film or wool wax. I spray it on all my vehicles and trailers and even my snowplow. It keeps my things rust free but you have to apply it once a year because it does wash off in the car wash after time. It can be sprayed inside doors, tailgate, frame ect and flows into cracks. After applying the best thing to do is drive it down a long dirt road and get some dust on the coating. Keeps it on longer. Fall application is best. Out east they have what I think is called New Hampshire coatings I think. It’s a waxy oily coating

  24. I think much the same thing that happens in other areas of the economy: technology creep. Look at the lodging industry as an example. In the 19th century, a hotel had one or two shared bathtubs per floor, you often shared a room (even a bed in some cases) with a stranger, wood or coal heat. Then came private baths, daily linen changes, electric lighting, in-room radios, phones, air conditioning, hair dryers, pools, exercise rooms, color tv, satellite tv, wifi, free wifi etc. As people raised their standards, the industry provided better and better amenities. The same goes for multi dwelling housing. As EVs become more prevalent, people looking for multi unit housing will be looking for a place that has onsite vehicle charging, or convenient public charging nearby. If Complex A doesn't offer it and Complex B does as an included or extra cost feature, they will attract more clients, just like people wanting to be on a transit line or have a garage upgrade today.

  25. If we want inflation to moderate and hopefully go back own, then demand will have to abate significantly, because supply issues will take longer to fix.

  27. That's true FordBuyer. Working class people don't usually buy new vehicles, and that probably won't change with BEV even though Jim Farley said that Ford is committed to building BEV at lower price points than Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning nowadays. Typical arrangements for working class are going to the used car market, sharing vehicles with family/friends, and using public transportation (where available and applicable). A good future opportunity for Ford is developing a set of consumer mobility services like robotaxi and delivery. Ford/Argo AI is already piloting services like these. Get the price point and service quality right, and it should attract lots of working class people particularly in urban areas.

  28. Yep so far an easy one. At least fuels are available. We went from a 400 ci Chevy Wagon to a Corolla Wagon. Everything fuel efficient got 20 to 22 mpg.

  29. I figure there are a few of us on here that have been through these oil shocks many times before. So far, this is a mild one in that gas stations have plenty of gas with no long lines. Not like that back in the 70's when many gas stations had no gas and those that did had long lines and 5 gallon limits. Those were the days. If you live long enough, you see it all and more.

  32. You do realize petroleum products are a worldwide commodity, right! Domestic prices reflect worldwide supply and demand. When supply was plentiful and demand lower price goes down , as demand increased , supply becoming limited, price when. Elections impact, none

  33. For the other 160 million owners not buying a new vehicle this year, it’s just a case of reducing discretionary mileage and only doing essential trips.

  34. But would they buy them or Maverick and escape hybrids? I’m betting the latter. Too bad Ford doesn’t have the battery supply to quickly increase the hybrid mix. Toyota is going to make a killing on their hybrids.
