  1. Given the scope of what’s currently under construction.plus future products it would be irresponsible not to have a dedicated Director.

  2. That is an important point. For my wife and me, we aren’t willing to accept that challenge. So, our next vehicle will not be an EV.

  3. Well of course you can make that work with enough planning and compromise but everyone makes it sound like you just stop for food like you normally would on a trip and just plug in while you’re eating. It is nowhere near that simple.

  4. Hybrids exist because buyers want them and they’re very effective at reducing emissions over non hybrids and they have none of the BEV drawbacks. The only reason for them not to exist as a transition to BEVs is government regulation and politics.

  5. I mentioned that in a post a few weeks ago, though I was just using common sense and not however millions of dollars Stanford spent to perform a study and put out an article...

  6. Don't think hiring someone (or a team) to look over the mega-multi-billion dollar current and future factory expansion and build-out to be something to consider as bloated.

  7. JP- I would agree the hybrid could be a good alternative. I was just trying to understand what Cpt4's application was. The 7.3 for sure puts out good power/torque. My bet is a high percentage of Power Stroke -or for that matter Duramax/6.7 Cummins buyers- can never justify the diesel premium given their utilization in terms of load size or fuel cost savings.

  8. They had the biggest bucket of taxpayer money to hand out. Like I said, there has to be a reason they’re picking and choosing which plants survive to BEV production and the rest die on the ICE vine.

  9. People are just lazy. They’d rather ask someone else to spoon feed them Information than do it themselves. Somebody mentions a restaurant and somebody else asks where is it or where’s the one closest to me? All of which Google will answer in less time than it takes to make the social media post.

  10. This is true of most large corporations. A certain local athletic apparel company has a dedicated executive and sizable team to handle property procurement and development projects for expansion. There is a ton of money at stake to not have someone overseeing it.

  11. I bet EV drivers spend more time looking at their battery charge meter than ICE drivers look at their gas gauge.

  12. I'm in Metro Vancouver where electric vehicles are increasingly common. Downtown we have a few charging stations, but I never see any of them available. It is often the same vehicles parked at them every day. Even with the amount of BEV's on our roads, I'm not aware of any local business that provides a charging station.

  13. Exactly. If you’re willing to do that have at it. I’d love an EV pickup but our travel vehicle will not be EV for several years.

  14. With a Superduty, I would be thinking that that a 6.8/7.3 with hybrid for launch and energy conservation in variable speed driving might make enough difference over buying a diesel…..might be worth a shot.

  15. Japan would require right hand drive. Maybe Ford will consider adding it to pick up some sales in Australia, India, and Japan to keep the V8 alive. I could see some sort of powerboost option being added, provided Ford finds a place for the battery. Improvements to battery power density could be the key.

  16. Good to know I wasn’t the only one thinking this is well past the ground breaking stage. Usually that would be a couple executives and politicians with shovels on an empty site before the heavy equipment arrived. Looks like they are pretty far along.

  17. Google search? https://lmgtfy.app/?q=SK+On https://www.reuters.com/technology/skorean-ev-battery-maker-sk-raises-15-bln-expansion-push-report-2022-08-19/ SK Innovation is Ford's battery partner for BOC and BO SK Battery Park.

  18. I'd be interested in a "powerboost" superduty for my business. After watching some videos on towing with the lightning and the significant range decrease I'm still a little skeptical about going full BEV unless the superduty has a lot more battery or some other tech breakthrough happens. Still rocking the 6.4 psd @ 8mpg waiting for Ford to give me an option besides another overpriced diesel with excessive maintenance costs and extra fluid I have to dump in it.

  19. Good points j2sys and blazerdude20. Press release terminology issues aside, it's great news that Ford is making progress getting its most significant new manufacturing facility so far in the 21st century built.

  20. Correct! When you see steel flying up like that, you are typically 9-12 months into on site construction. The underground utilities and prep work for an industrial site like this is immense.

  21. Which is wrong as the rules show that the $275 fee is already included in the x plan price. Either the dealer is misinterpreting the plan rules or it’s a blatant rip-off.

  22. You are correct jpd80 that West Tennessee is away from Ford's other operations, but as fuzzymoomoo said, corporate welfare factored heavily into Ford's and SK Innovation's decision to choose the site in Haywood County. Back in 2009, the Tennessee State Building Commission started spending millions of taxpayer money to acquire land and to do marketing promotion for an industrial "megasite" near Stanton. BOC is located at this megasite.

  23. Good news for me!! My truck came in this afternoon on the train. I suspect it will be unloaded next week and moved to the dealer a mile and a half away. Ordertrack never showed any transport information so I contacted my salesman and he told me it was in Illinois and he gave me the car # on 9/22. Over the past two days I followed it using the CSX phone number through Nebraska, Wyoming, and into Utah. The CSX tracker worked really well. The UPRR tracker, not so well. My first delivery date was 9/12-9/19 and then was moved to 10/13-10/20 and then was moved forward to 9/26-10/2 so the estimated delivery dates do change as things get shipped. Now to navigate through the dealer fee maze. It is my understanding that Dealer Prep has been paid by Ford to the dealer. All I should owe them beyond the X-plan invoice is a $100 doc fee, a $275 X-plan fee, and a whole pile of sales tax. Am I missing something here? Thanks to all for the support in the past 7 months. I will continue to "lurk" here.

  25. Same here, always carried an emergency 10 gallons of diesel in the truck bed, as my preference is to fill the truck after we unhitch and set up the coach.

  26. Which I posted about in this thread just 9 posts above theirs asking the question. I even included key parts of the text. I don't think people even try to search anymore. I blame social media...people ask the same questions over and over because SM makes it so hard to find previous posts.

  27. I can echo your sentiment. We had a 2022 Edge for a few weeks while the Flex was having a wheel repaired and I completely agree with pretty much everything you said. The 1 positive is at least the center screen is finally dim enough at night to not be a distraction to me.

  30. Equally, a small hybrid battery like those in the C2 range could possibly fit under the passenger side floor…. A nice little option later in the product cycle?

  33. I would expect the 25% estimate for the Lariat Luxury Package to be 25% of total Lariat production only since the package is only available on a Lariat Trim Series.

  34. Windshield wiper motors are so scarce for a superduty. People are paying $400 for USED units. We have 2 trucks sidelined because we cant get the motors. I would trade 4 emblems for a wiper motor, any takers? I cant believe things have gotten to this point........ Matt
