New Ford EV architecture CE1 for Louisville beginning 2027, small compact and pickup MEB now in the rear vision mirror, save for obligated builds at Cologne. Another bit of Hackett’s legacy gone…2 points

Go back a couple of years and the driving force behind self driving cars was internet companies wanting everyone to keep watching te Internet not the road. The reality is making that happen is neither simple nor close at hand. Im glad that Ford now realises this and is now simplifying its business down to things that matter right now.2 points

I also have not received the email if that makes you feel any better. I’m sure the system is very backed up1 point

My dealer got me in the system. We’re all eager to get a spot in line. It’s a mess to deal with in sure. But in reality, we all know this is a hurry up and wait for ever kind of deal.1 point

I ordered from a fairly large dealer nearby and the fleet guy was inputting all the orders. He was so busy that he was only submitting orders (and having lots of trouble with the system crashing etc), and said he would be "sending out customer POs" over the next week once he's caught up getting the actual orders submitted. When I asked the same question as you had he said " I will receive the same emails as you do on order submissions but have not seen them as of yet. When I complete sending of the PO we very well may see those emails arrive. "1 point

For those who have placed their orders, how long did it take you get an email from ford confirming your order? Is there a way to check you dealer submitted you order and that it was received?1 point

There are some fuel stations that have a diesel flavor that the pump sticker shows a higher cetane rating. Now it might be more of a "marketing tool" to have a sign that says "Premium Diesel". Is that a higher cetane rating or some sort of "better" formula....I'm not a Petro engineer so....1 point

The corner steps are just "bolt on" Ford accessories. The "retractable side steps"....well with the built in bed steps on offered I'd need to see the brochures or what they are really doing. Either way both of what you have listed are found on the Ford Accessories section of the Order Guide. So that tells me they are offered thru Ford and could be bought at any time.1 point

PLEASE....leave the console alone. We really don't want a console shifter on the Super Duty trucks. IF I had to loose the column shifter I'll take a dash knob over a console shifter. God knows I don't want either one of those two anyway.1 point

Yeah, if you're not going to be constrained by the reality of the situation, you might as well go for something nice.1 point

Clearly, Ford disagrees with you….they’ve already done the detuned 7.3 in certain applications for vans, that real world intel probably guided their decision to develop a 6.8. Knowing Ford’s perchance for saving money, they wouldn’t have developed 6.8 without a valid reason, most likely beyond what is obvious to us outsiders…1 point

Ford has reduced the markup from Invoice to MSRP so X plan won’t save as much, On some cheaper models the difference is only a few hundred bucks.1 point

my 2013 C-Max hybrid SEL with 106K averaging over 50MPG is great and I expect it to take me to my 1st BEV F which I hope is another small CUV.1 point

I disagree with your Dealer. The only issue with price protection is if you change the model (Body Code) or trim (XL, XLT, Lariat, etc.) which then creates a new order with a new original order date.1 point

I wouldn’t be surprised if Elon had it created as a design concept without any consideration for actual production then just decided we’re going to build it! And the engineers crapped their pants.1 point

I think the HO only comes standard in the Limited. Also, no such thing as premium diesel.1 point

The only thing I can think of is maybe it was bought as a regular vehicle since it was done in the middle of COVID...I haven't seen any others like it.1 point

Self driving cars are pie in the sky at this point-IMO it was just tech companies overselling what they could actually do. There needs to be a huge infrastructure upgrade and a way of tracking everything without infringing on privacy. Both are really expensive to figures out short term.1 point

Here are some bits from the Bloomberg article on this. In short, it is harder than a moonshot, a huge money sink, and unlikely to actually work anytime in the near-to-medium future. They are now going to focus on drivers assistance technologies that will provide real benefits to real drivers. ------------------- https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ford-vw-shut-self-driving-223820816.html “Profitable, fully autonomous vehicles at scale are a long way off and we won’t necessarily have to create that technology ourselves,” Ford Chief Executive Officer Jim Farley said in a statement Wednesday. Argo’s demise shows how swiftly the fortunes of the autonomous driving industry have turned, just 18 months after it was eyeing an initial public offering to boost its funding... Expectations of an imminent rollout of robocars have deflated across the industry. Shares in companies spearheading development such as Aurora Innovation Inc. have plunged some 80% this year, while Intel Inc. listed its Mobileye autonomous-driving business at less than half of the $50 billion it reportedly targeted less than a year ago... Ford Chief Financial Officer John Lawler said Wednesday that the company determined it would take more than five years to see a return on its investment in full self-driving. Farley said it also would require billions more in investment. “It’s harder than putting a man on the moon” to create a robotaxi capable of navigating in a dense urban landscape, said Doug Field, Ford’s chief advanced product development and technology officer...1 point

Thats all true with the exception of a mid order Ford price increase. The MSRP and A/Z/D/X prices will change but the dealer gets reimbursed for the difference. That’s why it’s crucial to get the actual selling price documented at order time whether it’s MSRP or a plan sale.1 point
