  1. That’s their own goddamn fault. I have zero sympathy. They had the model example of how to do it in The Rouge Complex and they decided to go in the complete opposite direction. You reap what you sow.

  2. No. In no way was that the government forcing people to drive in lieu of other forms of transportation. What we are currently dealing with is government(s) attempting to force BEVs upon us regardless of whether or not the infrastructure to support it exists.

  3. Ford needs its ICE products to remain solid profit earners for at least the rest of this decade and part of the next. Ford also needs its C2 compact vehicles to be strong sellers to “occupy “ and retain as many compact buyers as possible until it has affordable CE1 vehicles post 2027, so the hybrid compacts have a big job to do until then.

  4. That might be the most xenophobic thing you’ve ever typed here. This is your last warning - keep those thoughts to yourself or don’t bother logging in again.

  5. With respect, if Ford can sink $50 billion on its electric future, it can make sure that it’s ICE products are maintained to pay for that, adding something like the Maverick utility or increasing Hermosillo capacity are things with a relatively quick ROI, turning a profit on the $50B for BEV will take decades… Please don’t fall for the propaganda that Ford is going to magically start producing 600k/yr BEVs in the next three years, the truth will start to come out in the next 12-18 months…your original skepticism on depth of BEV sales was I think, sage advice, very correct IMO….especially if the plug gets pulled on IRA. I’ll leave it at that.

  6. On-site by a vendor is still better than halfway around the world. Or in some very specific cases I can’t and won’t elaborate on, a 4 hour drive.

  7. That is the issue here-most anti ev people think they won’t improve or over come shortcomings they have. I think we will see a steady increase in the US till 2030 and then around that time, BEVs will make up at least 50% or more of the new car sales. Automakers are talking BEVs now because they are talking about the future in the next 48 to 60 months with new products. There is no “new” ICE improvements that will allow them to stay in production beyond the next 10-15 years due to different government mandates. We are at peak ICE with performance and emissions and they’ll just fade away as time goes on.

  8. Have you looked at sales statistics for trucks? The trucks from Ford, GM, Ram, Toyota, etc., sell because they are the proper form factor for trucks. Truck derivatives (ie. Ridgeline, Avalanche, etc.), which is how I would define this Ram, have made little to no sales headway when compared to standard truck forms. IMO, one of the reasons the Lightning has been desirable to people, aside from the fact that it is an EV, is because it isn’t a cartoonish crew cab El Camino. I have driven trucks all my life, and will continue to so, but this Ram would not be on my shopping list, and it has nothing to do with the fact that it is a Ram, because I like the current Ram lineup. If they are looking for mass adoption of EV trucks, l wouldn’t deviate too far from the proper truck style recipe. They already have real or perceived shortcomings to overcome.

  13. Hey, I was just unsure if FORD had an other meaning or if it was something else since it's in french on the screenshot. There is always someone smarter to find a new acronym like in the army. Anyway, thanks.

  14. And this is where these forums become very muddled. You say YOU don’t know anyone that likes them. The Escalade leads this segment in sales two fold, they have a V model that none of the other BOF makes can compete with and it essentially is synonymous with this segment BUT yet because you yourself don’t like it, you’ve allowed that to cloud your judgment SO MUCH to the point that you state that you don’t know anyone that likes it. Lol a vehicle that sales almost as much as all the competitors combined, largely based off its engine and its styling (because Navi has pretty much always been a better functional SUV) and yet you think skewed “people I know” mind frame holds merit? PRICELESS that’s prob the exact mindset of ford executives that have allowed Lincoln to sit second fiddle since the 60s

  15. So what about the buyers who can’t afford new vehicles (most buyers) when the government removes all these used cars from the market?

  16. Absolutely, the last 30-40 years has seen Ford trying to cut costs and virtually removing all the the supply stability it once had. We could have a whole thread on that alone Bill Ford is no genius, the last time he ran the company was an absolute disaster, so I take his edicts as something that’s come pre-vetted from the bureaucracy/ accountants (he has been “fed” to say and believe) Remember that he originally predicted 25% hybrid by 2006 back in 2001 but no one could get near him with the truth. Agree, whoever did the threat analysis regarding supply of critical parts at distance was obviously clueless. The maddening thing for me is that Ford is risk averse to taking a chance with product that’s a calculated risk but gladly sinks itself in red ink with poor quality parts and lack of supply, do they not see how much self harm is created for years? The brass clearly have their priorities wrong, good quality ICE is needed to pay for BEV….. Now is not the time to undermine all the potential profit earners, need as many customers as possible and “ retain as many compact sized buyers as possible with hybrids so they don’t go elsewhere….that’s the job of C2.

  17. Remains to be seen how well integrated Blue Oval City will be, unless those details have already been released. Even on-site production will likely largely be by suppliers (e.g. BlueOvalSK).

  18. Just do keep in mind that it's an ETA, not a guaranteed delivery window, and as such there may be delays in transit. Keep that in mind with any planning you may need to do. Hopefully it'll arrive sooner

  19. I was responding to the big uptick in F Series sales last month (75,000) whenOctober and November were 56k and 55k respectively. That situation seems to be improving… T6 parts supply chain is still lagging badly, your North American issues are symptomatic of the struggle for many different small but crucial supplies. For Asia Pacific, China’s inability to contain covid will have consequences on about 100 parts for Ranger and Everest, more of the same crap….

  21. Nice work Matt, especially considering you did it on an iPhone while moving! Once you've gotten stopped ?, I would soften the hoodline and front falloff; too Bronco-ish IMO. Slightly round it from the windshield forward to more closely compliment the roofline. Also, run it thru the carwash to remove the "mud " underneath.
