  1. Foolish to out it mildly. I know it requires additional upfront costs. But there will come a day, in only a few short decades where most new cars are evs. Lincoln especially is a perfect brand for electrification. They're brand is sold on being quiet, refined, effortless. Evs are perfect for them.

  2. The headline can also read; "Almost 2/3rds of Lincoln dealers embrace a BEV future"

  3. Affirmative, if it includes a blend date that is the anticipated assembly date, whereas the date below the MSRP box is the date it was sent to the plant. I forgot about including the blend date on the Escape WS, as laterally, I've been looking at Super Dutys, which don't include a blend date.

  4. The date at the top of the sticker is the manufacture date its listed as 120230111 for example it says blend date under it. (starts with a 1) a trick to see when they start shipping is to search for dealer inventory for dealers near the escape plant since they will get theirs first.

  5. Thank you twintornados. 2/3rds works out to about 400 dealerships. That's more than sufficient to serve Lincoln customers in the U.S. market as the brand goes all-electric. For comparison, the leading U.S. domestic premium car brand, Tesla, has 221 retail stores, galleries, and service centers in the U.S. as of January 2023.

  6. It doesn't really make a difference. I just like knowing/understanding things. Chalk it up to intellectual curiosity. I've been blessed (or cursed) with it all my life.

  7. It might be the day its started, but for example, my Bronco was started 5/9 and wasn't done till 5/13

  8. A few thoughts on this: 1) the arbitrary sign up date is stupid. They’re going to make EVs regardless of how many dealers sign up, why this “sign up or else” mentality? Let them sell ICE until they’re not made and if they don’t want to go EV then, bye. 2) it may not entirely be the dealer’s choice…I mentioned this in the other EV thread…the local Ford/Lincoln dealer….which was planning on building a standalone Lincoln dealer (I’ve seen the blueprints myself) - closed entirely because they couldn’t get the required power to the actual dealer location. And that’s in a heavy Lincoln area. 3) there were part issues so it’s hard to truly gauge sales results, but Lincoln’s sales haven’t exactly taken off despite great new product. Though if you ignore outgoing sedan sales, Lincoln’s sales were flat for the year. That said, with no new ICE products slated, and EV products at least a couple years off, I understand trepidation to commit big bucks right now to an uncertain future, which reverts back to point 1 - why the arbitrary sign by date “or else”

  9. Lincoln exists only because the Ford family want it to do so and without Chinese sales it would have died with Mercury. So if Ford is taking Model E sales to online ordering, you can bet the same is coming to Lincoln and with less future maintenance, many Lincoln franchises are going to become less than worthless.

  10. I really don’t know. Your dealer has all available details on your order - make them earn their sale,

  11. Absolutely correct, so now those folks are being told to spend $1 million up front to qualify for BEV Lincoln… Not quite magic beans but getting close….

  12. I can only think of 2 near me that are standalone, and one of those I’m pretty sure is the same ownership group as the ford dealer across the street.

  13. Detroit's attempts at competing with the imports were pretty clumsy- Falcon, Corvair, and Valiant were all bigger cars that didn't really compete with the Beetle and most of the imports. Detroit's 2nd attempt with the Pinto and Vega wasn't much smarter- Pinto was halfway competent but a GM exec admitted he was glad he wasn't poor and had to drive a Vega. Had a Mk.1 Cortina GT and it was a decent car- Fast as an MGB but with a back seat and decent trunk. After two decades of feeling there way around the small car market Ford finally wised up and gave us the Escort "world car" and quit wasting their money on different cars for every market.

  14. I’ve said this for some time now - have better environmental restrictions, but not at the expense of our economy vs “theirs”. we could reduce our emissions 100%. Doesn’t do much good if China or India increase theirs 200%. im all for a better environment, renewable energy etc. just don’t shoot yourself in the foot and chop your arm off to get there.

  15. Congratulations!! That’s awesome!! We just drove by the lot at about 6:30pm CST and saw trucks loading and vehicles moving, so it looks like these guys are working OT! Maybe I’ll get mine tomorrow! Enjoy your truck!!

  16. No way all of those are standalone. I wouldn't be surprised if the ones opting out are mostly Ford-Lincoln stores.

  17. Hallelujah, status in the Ford tracker finally changed to shipped, just short of 4 months post build date. Doubt it will make the current estimated window that ends Monday but maybe I'll see it by the end of the month.

  19. Particularly after the 1973 oil crisis a few years later, when fuel economy became a greater priority. It begs the question of why Iacocca was so insistent on keeping Pinto weight under 2,000 pounds at a time when gas was relatively inexpensive? It’s possible he anticipated oil shortages and wanted Pinto to have great fuel economy, but seems more likely that US market was showing greater interest in small cars starting in the 1960’s. Prior to Vega, GM’s attempt to compete with VW Beetle, the Corvair, also ran into safety issues. Not sure if small and safe can be combined at a reasonable price.

  22. Some dealers are definitely skeptical of Ford's commitment to Lincoln. They were promised a full line-up initially.
